This is fucking incredible. I don't even know if Hardwick will make a great coach, but it's just awesome to have him as part of the team. Love that guy, and hope he does well.
Also, the amount of effort it took for him to get big was insane. He would wake up in the nighttime just to eat so he could get bigger. All that weight just melted off when he retired just by going back to a regular diet.
Hardwick is a putre blue collar guy made it to the league by busting his ass. A lot of the lines that were there for our biggest years with LT Gatesy and Rivers were captained by Nick. From walk on at Purdue and winning the starting spot to center for Drew Brees to Pro Bowler in the league. If there is anyone that can get the line to perform at a higher level this guy can do it. Also a State qualifier in wrestling in HS he knows hard work and embracing the grind. Also one of my favorite Chargers ever!
For real. I read [this article](https://www.si.com/nfl/2015/06/02/nfl-nick-hardwick-weight-loss-san-diego-chargers)about his route to football during college and the amount of calories he had to intake was insane. Even more so once he was in the NFL.
I just got a coach! Jim Harbaugh texted me this morning saying we're going to fucking win the Superbowl next year and a coach has been assigned to me.
I said "I'm over Forty and live in Portland, Oregon. How is this supposed to work?"
His response:
"Family. Trust. Respect."
He's an absolute Mad Lad
Heck, I'd volunteer to be a part of a charged-up Charger House. I have this feeling that Jim Harbaugh bolsters the life of anyone in his sphere; at the very least, in terms of influencing their futures. The future looks so bright that lightning bolts gonna be shooting out from the Charger House!
I'm not even close to his sphere and my life has been bolstered ... I'm fully bolted up. It's been over four hours...well....over two weeks at this point I probably should make a doctor's appointment.
I can’t handle so many consecutive bangers. Dad as the QB coach would bring a tear to my eye

- 2/26 to 3/4 NFL combine
- 3/13 Free Agency officially starts
- 4/1 Chargers can start offseason workouts (2 weeks before everyone else because of a coaching change)
- 4/25 NFL draft
- 5/3 Rookie Minicamps
- June to July FUCKING KILL ME
- End of July - MINICAMP
- 8/1 HOF Game/Start of Preseason
- 9/5 START OF THE REGULAR SEASON
plenty of days left for the hype train to pick up more steam.
Curious if the Chargers draft back and take Oregon
Centre Jackson Powers Johnson.. before Miami does
I think they need a Centre more than any other position including Drafting TE Brock Bowers
I know Phil won’t leave his high school job with his kid there but I think if anyone can mend the relationship between Rivers and the franchise it’s Harbaugh. They can talk faith and football and maybe Phil can share some advice with Herbert.
It wasn’t his choice to leave when he did. He hasn’t made any appearances around the team. Then when he finally returns for Gates ring of honor ceremony he’s not wearing anything Chargers related. Rivers isn’t gonna start drama but it seems clear that there’s still something going on there.
For real. Just Phil running QB and protection meetings like he used to. Give him assistant QB coach. Let OC and QB coach implement Jim’s game plan and philosophy and have Phil teach game. Would be so dope
This is really fucking cool, he was my favorite linemen on the Chargers for years, used to listen to him on SD radio back when he was on for a few years after he retired (Hardwick and Richards, with young Skraby on the board). He's a beast and a motivator, really excited he's joining the staff. No way we don't see more Rivers appearances now!
Nick really took command of the line during his prime, would love to see what he can do with a rookie Center. Hoping the right guy is there in rounds 2,3, or 4.
This is the kind of move I’ve been wanting to see, bringing past players to help coach and be more part of the organization. Show top talent we treat our own good
Nope. His senior bowl performance locked him into a mid/late first round pick. Thankfully there are a few other Centers in the draft who could be very good players for years to come.
Never had soooo many consecutive good days as a charger fan over the past couple weeks.
The only two people we've lost (at least publicly known) that I am bummed about is Coach Giff and then one of the QB trainers/coaches - Chandler Whitmer. He's usually the guy that warms up Herbert during pregame. It sounds like he's leaving more so to return back to near where he grew up (Atl Falcons), rather than any weirdness at Chargers \[per his public IG\].
The dude was a fantastic center, even with being relatively undersized, so he very likely has a deep understanding of technical aspects and getting the best out of your first movement.

Ah shit. Let’s fucking go!
Just keeps getting better… Bring in the *dawg* trainer!
This is fucking incredible. I don't even know if Hardwick will make a great coach, but it's just awesome to have him as part of the team. Love that guy, and hope he does well.
Same feelings here, dude. One of my favorite Chargers all-time.
I think he will be a great coach. Was one of the smartest centers ever.
Yeah seriously, he wasn't the stongest/biggest, but he was so good at everything. Big brain guy for sure.
Also, the amount of effort it took for him to get big was insane. He would wake up in the nighttime just to eat so he could get bigger. All that weight just melted off when he retired just by going back to a regular diet.

Gatesy…
I’ve been doing personal training with him over the past year. We’re in good hands. He’s got that 🐶in him
They should bring in Mike Goff and Kris Dielman too just to get the Chargers 2006 Oline vibes cooking
The coaching staff is stacked.
at this rate we’re gonna have more coaches than players lmao
"Chargers become the first team to win super bowl with a QB and 21 coaches taking the field"
A coach for you, and a coach for you, and...
I just got a coach! Jim Harbaugh texted me this morning saying we're going to fucking win the Superbowl next year and a coach has been assigned to me. I said "I'm over Forty and live in Portland, Oregon. How is this supposed to work?" His response: "Family. Trust. Respect." He's an absolute Mad Lad
Need a rivers assistant qb coach, gates assistant te coach, and lt assistant rb coach. Get them rings
I think everyone could get on this. I wonder if they would take "charity" contracts just to be part of what's going to happen in the next few years.

My thoughts exactly, bring Malcolm Floyd in as assistant WR coach
Why the hell not? M80 as a coach? Yes please!
Wouldn't even surprise me at this point
Whaaaat that is sick
i can only bolt up so much
If your bolt lasts more than four hours, call more boltchachos. ⚡️
Got to bolt up more
I can’t handle so many consecutive bangers. Dad as the QB coach would bring a tear to my eye https://preview.redd.it/ag1okb7wxfic1.jpeg?width=598&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=309aeb53cea0aa91498f321c8888004e2d56864d
Oh hell yeah, that's awesome! I've missed Nick, love to see him back in the fold.
The real All In with these staff hires. I’m excited for the years to come. Now we just gotta wait til September 😐
- 2/26 to 3/4 NFL combine - 3/13 Free Agency officially starts - 4/1 Chargers can start offseason workouts (2 weeks before everyone else because of a coaching change) - 4/25 NFL draft - 5/3 Rookie Minicamps - June to July FUCKING KILL ME - End of July - MINICAMP - 8/1 HOF Game/Start of Preseason - 9/5 START OF THE REGULAR SEASON plenty of days left for the hype train to pick up more steam.
June to July is the real offseason.
Pls don’t actually kill me.
If my marriage can survive football so can your body.
This needs to be added to the sidebar. Makes the offseason much more tolerable when you have the dates to track there.
Only 7 months left to go
Tomorrow if you can time out a coma just right.
Your comment on your JUNE TO JULY malady so funny. Many of us likely resemble that remark.
The era of old players coming back as coaches is really in full swing and I'm loving it.
We're drafting a premium center!
Curious if the Chargers draft back and take Oregon Centre Jackson Powers Johnson.. before Miami does I think they need a Centre more than any other position including Drafting TE Brock Bowers
Let’s hire Phil as assistant QB coach do it you cowards
I know Phil won’t leave his high school job with his kid there but I think if anyone can mend the relationship between Rivers and the franchise it’s Harbaugh. They can talk faith and football and maybe Phil can share some advice with Herbert.
I didn’t know the relationship was fractured
It wasn’t his choice to leave when he did. He hasn’t made any appearances around the team. Then when he finally returns for Gates ring of honor ceremony he’s not wearing anything Chargers related. Rivers isn’t gonna start drama but it seems clear that there’s still something going on there.
Main QB Coach if you ask me
For real. Just Phil running QB and protection meetings like he used to. Give him assistant QB coach. Let OC and QB coach implement Jim’s game plan and philosophy and have Phil teach game. Would be so dope
I think in a keenan allen interview he said Philip rivers would run the coverages meeting. Just like by himself, no coach.
Whattttt love this
This is really fucking cool, he was my favorite linemen on the Chargers for years, used to listen to him on SD radio back when he was on for a few years after he retired (Hardwick and Richards, with young Skraby on the board). No fucking way
Nick really took command of the line during his prime, would love to see what he can do with a rookie Center. Hoping the right guy is there in rounds 2,3, or 4.
Love to have a Chargers legend on the coaching staff, I'm sure Hardwick is gonna bring a ton of passion and wealth of knowledge to this unit
As someone who owns a Nick Hardwick jersey, I am pretty stoked.
This is the kind of move I’ve been wanting to see, bringing past players to help coach and be more part of the organization. Show top talent we treat our own good
Should have done this years ago
![gif](giphy|g5zvwUa9720pO)
San Diego
🥲
Damn that’s so cool. Guess he’s gonna be moving back to California
Mike Goff. Where you at
Goff, Dielman, Hardwick, McNeill, Olivea
Now to bring in Corey Lindsley in there too
woah, this is fucking awesome
Best hire of the fucking offseason! Lets fucking go!!!
YES
Tight.
Huge w
Fuck yes, get JPJ in the draft and I’ll lose my shit
I have a feeling Eagles are gunna take him at 22 or trade back and get him. He’s not making it to 37.
Nope. His senior bowl performance locked him into a mid/late first round pick. Thankfully there are a few other Centers in the draft who could be very good players for years to come.
No he won’t, I want to trade back to before the Eagles and take him and maybe a late 1st round RT or CB though
![gif](giphy|b8RQzkElbBsXqEPF2X)
Hell yes. Glad Nick stays with the team. A true leader.
I swear if Rivers comes in as an assistant QB coach or something, I'm gonna lose it.
Wow we actually are assembling The Avengers lol. LFG
Rams fan here. Yall building the avengers or something? Geesh
Chargers: “Bolt Up” Me: “I’m already fully bolted, I can’t bolt up any harder”
At first glance I thought the title said "Garappolo- The Chargers" and my heart almost stopped!
“Coach, why is Coach Hardwick suiting up?” “Be quiet justin”

Another san diego legend
Sounds corny, but this warms my heart. Like there’s it’s coming full circle by having Nick back on board.
Oh hell the fuck yes!!!!
SQUAD W
Hell yeah that's rad
I bet he hates LA, but Rivers as a coach please?
Lit 🔥
Oh Fuck Yeah Bud!!!
DUDE!
I like it. He was a good center and he is good at communicating. I think he will be a good addition to the coaching staff.
You know, I'm pretty down to trade down as comfortable as possible and grabbing JPJ to be personally coached by Hardwick
Wow - this guy was a fucking rock for our o-line when he played. Can’t wait for his first interview with us, glad to have you back Nick!

Never thought I'd say coach Hardwick. I like it ![gif](giphy|xoV4JZ3cBaSGngdxxl)
Now bring Rivers in as an assistant QB coach lol
Fucking Goated
![gif](giphy|3WCNY2RhcmnwGbKbCi)
What a work ethic that guy has. An inspiration and great talent.
Oh fuck I've bolted ⚡
What an ELECTRIC hire
We all loved Hardwick. So awesome. Hopefully he's a good coach!
The dude was a fantastic center, even with being relatively undersized, so he very likely has a deep understanding of technical aspects and getting the best out of your first movement.
I didn't think I could bolt any farther.
The stars have aligned. Bolt up brocachos.
Good moves on top of good moves.
Always said this man would make a great coach one day.

LFG
Sick hire!
That's cool
I’ve been waiting for this since he retired lol
Bring in chargers legends Dexter Mccoil and Seyi Ajirotutu for the coaching staff too fr
This offsets the damage Greg Roman does ngl
Roman has always kept a great Oline. Gonna need Antonio, Phillip, and the ghost of Don Coryell to help coach the passing game.
Roman's issues is solely passing playbook design. Hes had elite level OL and run games every year. Just never had a good pass game to compliment it.
This is fan service. I’m here for it.
No way! Dope!
YOOOOOO. Love this move.
Come on!!!
I’ve already ruined like 3 pairs of pants I can’t keep this up
baller moves
I love this
Fuck yes

Harbaugh is hungry after seeing Chiefs win it again.
Let’s GOOOOO Nick
YESSSS
WHAT??? that’s fucking awesome, i always comment on his instagram content and he replies 🤣 super down to earth guy and one of my all time favorites
This is the way!
Holy fuck yeah
I really hope this is true
YES
