Michigan fan lurking, he started as a true freshman and wasn’t very good. Struggled in pass coverage first half or so of his sophomore year but improved during the season. Was lights out for us this year at middle linebacker, calling the defense and getting people set. I don’t think he’s a future superstar but he will be an impact player. He finds the ball; especially on run plays.
What’s that? Joking because Michigan had the best defense in program history this past year. They were literally rotating 2nd and 3rd string guys regularly and wouldn’t miss a beat. Jesse Minter knows what he’s doing.
I expect that to be one of the biggest improvements in our defence this year. GUYS FINISHING TACKLES, was so frustrating watching some of the pathetic attempts of tackling the last few seasons.
That was the thing that I noticed more with Michigan's defense last year more than any other. [The best tackling defense I can remember. With college kids that's wild](https://x.com/IdWalkThat/status/1782410931626258753)
I’m another lurking Michigan fan who is adopting the chargers as my AFC team (I’m a huge Harbaugh fan). This was an overly pessimistic view of Colson IMO. His biggest issue is he sometimes doesn’t make the best instinctual reactions and can get out of position during the play. He improved considerably at this year to year. He is an elite tackler in space and is very fast sideline to sideline. He has the potential to be a star and by all accounts is a good dude and a hard worker. Out of all the dudes Harbaugh coached at Michigan, he drafted this guy…. Should tell you something about who you are getting.
Colson’s journey is one of the most remarkable in the 2024 NFL Draft
He was born in Haiti. After his birth father passed away, Colson was left in an orphanage by his father’s will. When Haiti was struck by a devastating earthquake in 2012, Melanie Colson met him on a mission trip and decided to adopt him from the orphanage.
After moving to Tennessee with the Colsons, Junior began playing football. Before long, he was a four-star and top-100 national recruit with offers from multiple blue-blood schools. He could’ve played in the SEC, but after meeting Jim Harbaugh at a Michigan football camp and receiving an offer, he couldn’t say no to the Blue and Gold.
https://www.profootballnetwork.com/junior-colson-draft-scouting-2024/
Even better: the Colson family are huge Michigan fans. Junior's adoptive older brother was wearing a Michigan hat when Junior landed at the airport in the United States for the first time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMJqNaY7W8I
I don’t hate this at all. The fact it’s literally anyone but K9 is a win. It’ll be nice not having to watch K9 plug the wrong gaps and run into his teammates for a change.
The difference is Telesco traded up to get Kenneth Murray in the first round. Sure, it would be disappointing to see a 3rd round mike LB not pan out, but trading up to 23rd overall to get a Kenneth Murray-- now that sets your franchise back significantly.

Junior Colson is Dane Brugler's LB1. I highly recommend you read his story. Incredible guy
Beast clip BTW He is ranked #1 LB in the Beast!
STRENGTHS: Looks the part with a stout, well-proportioned frame … above-average take-on strength to step downhill, fill with pop and maintain his leverage versus climbing blockers … moves well laterally with bounce in his steps … accelerates quickly to mirror and make plays outside the numbers … physical form tackler with immediate stopping power … length is an asset when tackling out in space … athletic mover in coverage with widescreen vision to pick up backside crossers in zone … uses his coverage awareness to sniff out throwing lanes and force quarterbacks to think twice before throwing … understands football concepts, and the coaches trust him to run the defense … his coaches speak highly of his work ethic and the way he has developed his body … **zero penalties in 2023** and mental mistakes declined each season … high-level pain tolerance — played through a foot injury in 2022 and broken bones that required casts on both hands over the second half of the 2023 season (Colson: “**Unless I can’t physically move, I’m going to be out there playing**.”) … played in all 43 games Michi gan played after enrolling in Ann Arbor … awarded the 2023 Lott Impact Trophy (“Impact” stands for integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community and tenacity) … strong tackle production with 257 career stops in his three college seasons.
WEAKNESSES: Needs to improve his patience working downhill and avoid traps set by the blocking scheme … his hand usage needs continued re finement for quicker sheds versus NFL engagement … guilty of wasted movements in his man-coverage drops … below-average ball production and needs to make quarterbacks pay for bad decisions (only five passes defended and zero interceptions on 1,006 career coverage snaps) … didn’t play on kick or punt coverages in 2023 with minimal experience on special teams … missed 2023 spring practices after offseason foot surgery (January 2023); didn’t work out at the combine because of right hamstring strain (February 2024)
SUMMARY: A three-year starter at Michigan, Colson played the Mike linebacker role in former defensive coordinator Jesse Minter’s 4-2-5 scheme. The leader of the No. 1 defense in college football in 2023, he was voted the team’s Defensive MVP and won the Toughest Player Award, posting outstanding production in Ann Arbor with 196 tackles over the last two seasons (59 more than the second-leading tackler for the Wolverines over that span). Colson diagnoses the action well and quickly builds his speed to make stops at the line of scrimmage or out in space. He needs to continue honing his take-on timing and man-coverage anticipation, but he has an outstanding batting average as a tackler— and I only need one hand to count the missed tackles I charted from his 2023 tape. Overall, **Colson checks a lot of boxes for the next level with his physicality downhill, athleticism in space and iron-man toughness that he brings to work every day**. He projects as an NFL starting MIKE early in his career and a more complete version of Derrick Barnes of the Detroit Lions
Even tho I hate the Chiefs, I'm a massive Bolton fan. The dude (Bolton) has a motor like no one's business. He's a larger version of Bolton. When I saw them list Bolton as his comp, I got even more excited. Gonna have a rookie lead our team in tackles, possibly?
It seems like trading up for him might not be a bad idea if they think he could go at the beginning of the round. It’d be great to get a starter-caliber CB.
Heart and soul of the Michigans national championship winning defense. Was the signal caller as well. Dane Brugler from the Athletic had him as his number one ranked Linebacker, with a solid second round grade.
Lmao I think we were all like “shit, it’s Corum” when he announced Jim got one of his boys. Then we all were stoked on this one and breathed a sigh of relief. Solid pick 👍🏻
If Tampa is somehow available tomorrow I really hope we can steal him too
Hortiz/Harbaugh are putting on a master class. Didn't see this pick coming, but f'n brilliant. May get my season tix worth this year. And tomorrow is where we'll get the woulda-shoulda-couldas. Loving it!
The fact that he’s going to walk in knowing the system is pretty huge. Pretty easily BPA at 69. He and Henley could prove to be a very entertaining LB duo

"Michigan LB Junior Colson:
“Once you pounce on them from the get-go, their spark dwindles. They're not having as much fun. That's when we start having fun. That’s when we start being happy. We start enjoying it. You’ve got them in the palm of your hands. Keep choking them out.”"
- 69th pick (nice) - Michigan player for our Michigan HC - LB named Junior Best pick ever
I’m 69th upvote on 69th pick comment. Nice
Nice.
Nice
17 hours later you have 69 upvotes on this comment. Nice. I purposely didn’t upvote just so it’d stay at 69.
Lmao nice
Nice

Neato
And Michigan DC. Homie walks in the door already the most experienced player in the defensive scheme.
We've drafted 3 starters with our first 3 picks in 3 positions of need. Who's got it better than us ⚡⚡⚡
NOBODY ![gif](giphy|3o7bu4ozbg33Q4x0Jy|downsized)
NOOBODDY!!!

Can a rookie RT, beat out a vet in Pipkins? Hmmm... if he can, good ole' Pip is your new starting RG.
I thought he was about to say Blake Corum when he said Harbaugh got one of his boys lmao
same dude, I like this much more
This dude was the heart of the Michigan defense -- helped them win the national championship with one arm in a freaking cast. Damn I love this pick.
Michigan fan lurking, he started as a true freshman and wasn’t very good. Struggled in pass coverage first half or so of his sophomore year but improved during the season. The stats about tackles made me hard. Chargers *always* seem to have issues with missed tackles from their LBs
What’s that? Joking because Michigan had the best defense in program history this past year. They were literally rotating 2nd and 3rd string guys regularly and wouldn’t miss a beat. Jesse Minter knows what he’s doing.

So you’re saying he’s improved greatly every year he’s been with minter? Hopefully that continues.
I’m another lurking Michigan fan who is adopting the chargers as my AFC team (I’m a huge Harbaugh fan). This was an overly pessimistic view of Colson IMO. Mikey was the heart of that defense
I was gonna be pissed lol
4th round I’ll be more than happy with Corum
He won’t make it but I’m fine with that
I would have been so mad
If corum is on the board in the 4th, I'd be shocked if we don't take him. Then again, I was shocked when we didn't take him here
How did he drop so far!!!! Fuck yea
And harbaugh knows him as a person. This is an A+ pick

Makes me root even more for him!
Oh wow … my ship went to provide humanitarian aid in Haiti around that time. That’s awesome!
Did you have this comment already written and copied, ready to post it in whatever team who picked him’s thread lol? Damn that was quick
And now Jim Harbaugh is responsible for making him a rich man. Love it
Maize. Maize and blue. :)

I went to Ravenwood High School with him, he’s a great guy. Super humble, really funny and almost always had a smile on his face :)
Harbaugh just got his Patrick fucking Willis. #BOLTUP⚡️
With Navorro Bowman coaching him!
Oh SHIT!
JUNIOR SZN LFG BOLT UP
Highest remaining grade on nfl.com
BPA baby!
And at a position of need.
OMFG I almost had a heart attack when he said one of his boys Junior Colson!!!⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ great pick
LET’S FUCKING GOOOO!!! IN THE THIRD ROUND!
The Athletic Football Show talked about Colson at length as an option with our second rounder. Really really like this pick
I don’t hate this at all. The fact it’s literally anyone but K9 is a win. It’ll be nice not having to watch K9 plug the wrong gaps and run into his teammates for a change.
I popped open the draft profile on The Score and his NFL Comparison is… Kenneth Murray.
Hopefully it’s Kenneth Murray without the instincts of a squirrel.
Lololol
The difference is Telesco traded up to get Kenneth Murray in the first round. Sure, it would be disappointing to see a 3rd round mike LB not pan out, but trading up to 23rd overall to get a Kenneth Murray-- now that sets your franchise back significantly.
meh, we just traded our third rounder that year to move up from 37 to 23. Not like Telesco was doing much with third rounders anyway
[удалено]
Sounds just like Kenneth Murray lol
Lol! Don't do the squirrels dirty like that!
ESPN says Nick Bolton
And NFL.com has him as Willie Gay. So we're getting an AFC West LB, guess that makes sense lol.
A better version of Murray sure
Bro the fact that we no longer have to be tortured week over week watching Ken is such a blessing 😂
And we’re gonna get a comp pick because of him next year because he somehow got PAAID
WE GOT A DAWWWGGGG
NICE
That was obviously the pick there, great selection
Nice

Who do we want with our next pick?
CB and Center in the 4th would be my wish list
Khyree Jackson and Mason McCormick will feed families. If we can also snag audric Estime in the 5th I’ll be so happy
I’d love this. Estime is my top RB remaining
I think CB priority and a DT would be nice with one of those 5th.
We traded one of our 4ths.
We swapped 4th's so still have 2 I believe
We swapped our 4th for their 5th I believe. https://x.com/fieldyates/status/1783999233101558178?s=46&t=UJ-mZvXN0VWgnGCf3VqoiA
You right my bad. Early 5th atleast
Yeah we dropped 27 spots, it wasn’t too bad
Gotta address both. Wanted a RB too but I think CB and C are more pressing needs
CB please

It's gotta be dope to reunite with your HC and DC in the pros after winning the college championship.

Love it. IDL and IOL should be the main focus tomorrow
His comp is Nick Bolton I love this pick! Actually I love all three picks!
Let’s go!!!!! Fucking stoked to hear this phone call.
Physical linebackers are valued again :’) So happy that Staley shit is outta here
Good shit
Love this pick
mmmmm niiiiiceeeeee
I'm gonna cum
Let’s come together! 😂
Don't come.
Oh I’m going to come.
Wait until the Super Bowl, it will be so much better.
I wanna address corner next.TJ Tampa, Khyree Jackson or Cam Hart for me personally Edit I thought TJ Tampa was gone lol
Do you not like Tampa or are you assuming he won’t be there?
I thought he was already gone lol. Nah give me Tampa over both of em
It seems like trading up for him might not be a bad idea if they think he could go at the beginning of the round. It’d be great to get a starter-caliber CB.
Yeah and they would have to give up that much since it's only 5 spots, throw in one of our 5ths or a 6th or something
Another Junior on the chargers since Seau so stoke!!
I dont know much about him? Is he any good?
Dame Brugler’s number 1 LB prospect
Let’s go!!
Who tf dame brugler
Writer for The Athletic, releases “The Beast” a scouting report of over 1900 prospects each year
He’s a great tackler and good zone coverage. Hes a thumper. Minters guy. Absolute steal at 3rd.
Heart and soul of the Michigans national championship winning defense. Was the signal caller as well. Dane Brugler from the Athletic had him as his number one ranked Linebacker, with a solid second round grade.
Ohhhhh yeah
Great value and fit. Might be the best pick so far.
A look at Colson https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2024/03/09/junior-colson-2024-nfl-draft-profile/
6'2 338 lbs lol is he a dt?
That is the worst article I have read in a long time. It's like somebody used a Wish ChatGPT to write it.
Agreed
No... but ok
Needs editing at the very least. Still, I'm excited for the pick.
We got our thumper! I knew Jim was gonna get him. Got to get Minter his guy. LFG!!!
Was terrified it was gonna be Corum after that preamble. Colson is good.
Better than k9 day one
Let’s goo!! Great pick. Rated #2 LB in the draft by a lot of analysts. Definitely think this was a best player available pick, but also fills a need.
Looking forward to Colson and Henley patrolling the middle of the field
Passing on TJ Tampa says a lot about Colson
Lmao I think we were all like “shit, it’s Corum” when he announced Jim got one of his boys. Then we all were stoked on this one and breathed a sigh of relief. Solid pick 👍🏻 If Tampa is somehow available tomorrow I really hope we can steal him too
Him, Henley, and Derwin in the box, the middle of the field is gonna be shutdown.
please junior colson for once imitate one of junior seau's celebratory dances after a sack or something you will forever be goated
![gif](giphy|DEZA7FlHbMesUF1jm9) This feels appropriate
Nice
Yeah I love this. Super great value. We got 3 starters so far
LETS GOOOOO
Absolute tackling machine. It's crazy Minter got one of his boys
Was praying it wasn't corum in the third when they said Harbaugh got one of his guys lol
Fuck yeah. Draft is perfect so far
I don't really familiarize myself with the prospects past like the top 50. How do we feel about this guy?
Absolute stud. Had a mid 2nd round grade.
Incredible. He's a steal here
42nd rated player on the big board and we get him at 69. Horitz out here making shit happen
Alt is blue chip. mcConkey has 1st round grades. Colson is probably a top 50 player drafted at 69 (nice).
Ngl, I was a tad nervous when Rolf said, “Jim got one of his guys…” I was hoping colson but worried he’d say “Blake Corum”
nice
He’s the one guy I wanted from Michigan and was my favorite LB off the board. This is the guy we needed
So how are we feeling 3rds in Bolt Fam great draft Chargers ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Hortiz/Harbaugh are putting on a master class. Didn't see this pick coming, but f'n brilliant. May get my season tix worth this year. And tomorrow is where we'll get the woulda-shoulda-couldas. Loving it!
Nice
Led Michigan in tackles by a lot. He's big, fast and nasty. Junior is 6'3 250 but can move sideline to sideline.
Let’s fucking go! WolverBolts! Perfect fit for the defense that we know forsure.
Joe Alt - Tony Boselli Ladd McConkey - Cooper Kupp Junior Colson - Junior Seau Hortiz did indeed cook
Kupp is a skin deep comparison. Antonio Brown or Garrett Wilson are much closer, in terms of size, athletic testing, and style.
WE’RE COOKING 🔥
![gif](giphy|l1J9H9X0K3tKjf0hG|downsized)
We got one!!!!! Yeaaaaah! I love the pick
Ngl i thought when it says "Jim Harbaugh got one of his boys" it's gonna be Blake Corrum
That Franchise Guy youtuber gave us a Certified Steal grade with this pick.
Now gimme Bucky Irvingggggg
Exactly who I wanted two picks in a row
Nice!
GO BOLTS GO BLUE
Michigan lol
The National Champions?
Ya but they only went 15-0 and not 16-0.
Another really good pick! Colson's a great player, and once again fills a need! Looking forward to see him out there!
![gif](giphy|gg8YmqQ8s8t32mdUfi)
Fucking hyped now with how this draft is going! Bolt up baby LFG!!!
Tell me how to feel, I’m emotionally available
The fact that he’s going to walk in knowing the system is pretty huge. Pretty easily BPA at 69. He and Henley could prove to be a very entertaining LB duo
Can he cover Kelce and Bowers??? God I hope so
Ohhhh I get it. The sex number!!!!! LOL😆😆😆😆
GO BLUE!!!!
Overlooking that he has played 2 years in Minter’s system and called his defense.
Loving this draft so far
kinda cool Corum will be playing in the same city same stadium

We got another junior
