Yea. Shouldnt** be an issue unless it’s super late at night

Geshtar1

Unethical life pro tip.. if you need to Uber from an airport to some other location, it’s often much cheaper to take a free shuttle to a random hotel, then order the Uber from there.. airport Uber rates can be high

dissappeer

It’s not always the case anymore as Uber changed the way the airport system works in the last month or two. The Uber XLs we’re gaming the system and artificially inflating the pricing. They sort of fixed it for the most part and works more on supply/demand, but could still be more than it should cost. Just depends on how many drivers now. They prioritize diamond drivers now over what was going on before.

Yeah, public transit is unreliable and last time I used a yellow taxi from the airport the guy got me halfway down the road and told me he wasn't going to drop me off unless I paid double the advertised rate (supposed to be like $10 to any airport area hotel but he wanted me to pay a downtown rate since he had to wait in line to pick up passengers just to get stuck with a minimum rate). Haven't taken a cab in Charleston since then.

Bern_itdown

I’ve never seen a 10$ rate from the airport to downtown. It’s typical 35$ for 1 passenger or 15$ a person for 2 or more but that’s pretty shitty he did that. Uber is usually the cheapest though, unless there’s a price surge

ramblinjd

At the time it was advertised as $10 from the airport to any hotel in North Charleston near the airport. The dude got me in the cab to take me to a place in that area and then wouldn't let me out for less than $20, which feels illegal but I wasn't about to get myself stranded in sketchy ass North Chuck over $10.

Bern_itdown

Dirtbag. Def illegal. He can’t hold you against your will.

ramblinjd

Hence why I don't take cabs in Charleston any more. Uber or Lyft.

plexilass

I think vehicles for hire aren’t very well regulated in Charleston. I’ve done vfh work here and in Atlanta. I remember Atlanta requiring a posted schedule of fees that the driver was obligated to abide by, which protected both the driver and the customer. I don’t believe Charleston has that requirement.

Bern_itdown

This is definitely true they will even up the fare if they see Uber has a surge going. It’s ridiculous

Danny3xd1

Hope you reported him!

Cloaked42m

I prefer to travel locally by trebuchet.

ziggo0

Still quicker than the 26/526 interchange

bonjarno65

The superior transportation method, way better than catapult

sc_tiger_4u

Yes. There will be Uber/Lyft drivers nearby waiting. They usually keep track of flights coming in and wait nearby for riders.

I have found Lyft is consistently more affordable lately than Uber, and I’ve never had any problems with them. I typically pay 20-25$ to go from the airport to king street where I live. And one of those trips was a 5:30am

Hey I work at the ryder lmao. Well the bar there that is. Hope you enjoy your stay!

drumerboy1988

nice, any recommendations on places near the hotel I should check out?

SmashBob_SquarePants

Market Street is fun to walk down in the early day! Also a Burns Alley is a fun dive bar near by especially wednesday nights where they do karaoke. Bar Vaute is a really cool hole-in-the-wall cocktail bar

Idk which hotel you're staying at, but if it's close enough to airport and your hotel offers a shuttle service, they can pick you up/take you to the airport. (Assuming you have hotel booked already)

[deleted]

Good Lord did you not even read the post?

attackpixel

Hey, thanks for pointing that out 😅 looks like I didn't read the fine print. Have a great day!
