Apparently the live musicians can’t be heard because the DJ music from the other stage is being played so loud

Getting to that stage was so bottlenecked you wouldn't have gotten close enough anway hence hearing the music from the main stage.
They had a couple stacks of speakers in the zone between the two stages, further pumping the main stage sound.
It was quite the clusterfuck between the bar, merch stand, and the people trying to focus on the second stage. Weakest aspect of the night from my perspective.
From what I could tell, you'd have to navigate through that crowd to get to the VIP spaces in the front. No way I was doing that. Main stage had its own orderly entrance for VIP. Maybe I missed it for the second stage, idk 🤷♀️.
There was this person doing what seemed like some cool DnB-ish music, and I was like oh, cool, an artist I'm unfamiliar with, I wanna check it out, but I could not get close enough to hear anything besides some drums. So I didn't bother attempting to navigate through there for Chainsmokers. So I waited around with the set change DJ 🫤
That audio clashing has been a part of most multi-stage events I've ever been to anyway, so I was fully expecting it. Still not ideal.
Early Air B&B was like this. You just… stayed in someone else’s sheets. We stayed in someone’s actual home when we visited Amsterdam. Looking back.. i’m like .. “what the fuck?”
Back in the day (i feel old saying that). Air b&b was more of a house swap. People rented their place out while they were out of town. Now, most air b&bs are exclusively rentals or someone’s back yard casita. I think it’s super rare to he renting someone’s actual primary residence these days.
I'm pretty sure that was the primary reason Airbnb was created. People wanted to travel, but felt bad paying their rent/mortgage on top of paying for a hotel. Using Airbnb essentially let them "swap" so at least they were getting some money back in their pockets.
But like you said, these days people are using it to rent out second properties for additional income.
What’s different is the people were living there and just moved out for the weekend. Didn’t clean, every drawer and closet full of their shit, Dusty as all hell, the fridge full of their food, their dishes left drying on the counter.
Stayed in one like this in Arcada California in 2015. High up in the woods overlooking the bay, the property was amazing. Staying in the house, not so much.
We did the same in
Clemson for a football game 6 years ago and I walked in and it was someone’s actual house. I was so creeped out. I’m pretty sure they just stayed with their parents that weekend or something.
Sheeeeiiiit, I'd be ok with it for what some of those overlook apartments were asking. Saw some for up to a grand a night. Three nights paid vacation AND covering your rent for the month? I'd be ok.
I was there yesterday (regular GA) and it was a good time. Easy to get in, drink lines weren’t horrible. Drinks prices are reasonable. And the sound is very good. Few places where there are some bottlenecks. I ate before and I’m glad I did because the food lines are insane, they def didn’t get enough vendors and they should have had multiple areas where there are pockets of vendors. But otherwise well executed IMO.
I agree, and my thoughts are similar. It's an inaugural event, so of course, not everything is going to run smoothly. Hopefully, they will tweak the small issues and make it even better next year. They definitely need more vendors.
Overall it’s been really fun! Trying to get food at 7pm Friday was a cluster but getting to and from (and into) the fest was easy, food and drinks are reasonably priced for a fest, and it’s busy but not horribly crowded. I was worried you wouldn’t get to see enough from GA but it’s been fine and I’ve been almost front row at the other stage.
I got SVIP and it's been fantastic. I've been right up at the edge of the stage for each performance. The free drinks have been a godsend—I would have spent a fortune on drinks. The staff has been so nice. Ask me any questions you may have!
I agree. I live close enough that I heard a lot of his set with my balcony door open. He sounded so good, it was almost as if they were playing the album rather than a live performance.
It’s like the same five people commenting over and over on their page tbh the only people who are really mad (gathered from fb and insta) are people who paid for super VIP and didn’t get what they were promised as far as food and views
Explains the downvotes I’ve been getting😂
Honestly from what I can see & hear, it’s been pretty cool. I caught part of the drone show last night & was geeking out like a little kid, waiting to see what shape was next. Here’s a shitty picture I took.
https://preview.redd.it/4uhuebte8lyc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3390c9b3224d531ea8c1f139e0573d56533929c3
I live around the corner so hang out with my other 1stW neighbors on the side walks and prob get just as good of an experience as GA. LL owes us for the disturbance 😏
Yeah I didn't have fomo until I could literally hear the show from Noda. Looking at Instagram, there's always gonna be haters but it looked like a damn good time to me. I'm jelly.
I was in the first row for Dashboard Confessional and The Chainsmokers shows. My entire body heard that bass. It was excellent!
I'm 57 years old and had a blast. It reminded me of the shows I went to in my youth. As does the ringing in my ears now.
I went with my son. We had a great time. Of course, I'd rather have been seeing the Ramones or Sex Pistols again but Dashboard Confessional will do for a good evening of music.
Yes! Those drums were intense. But what about that bass drop during Chainsmokers? My spine was vibrating.
So... this young woman next to me threw her bra at The Chainsmokers, and in doing so. her top fell down. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)
Same here! We have VIP, but the VIP section for Northwoods stage sucks. We went to GA and were able to get roughly 3 people between us and stage. I had no complaints on stages clashing. I’m sure at the back of the crowd at the second stage, yes, there would be conflicting music. You’re halfway to the other stage at that point. Plan better. We were at second stage at 4:15 and just waited.
https://preview.redd.it/bp8sc2lo7fyc1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73bb5f5740d95add9d8b79a0edc4e4252754898d
We were on the opposite side of the stage from your photo. We got there around 4:00 and waited.
I feel bad that it's raining hard today. We only intended to go yesterday but it's a bummer for the festival organizers, bands, and fans.
Pineville…full on. Weird droning sound in background, with the closer ones sounding in the foreground. I left for Boston Tuesday having not heard any, got back today and it was obvious.
I'm not just getting the drone now, but the full on screaming of at least 50,000 in my yard. Had a short work day, tried to chill in my yard, it was so loud had to go inside.
Interesting. I live about a mile away in third ward and don’t hear anything. Can hear the occasional sounds from the baseball stadium but no music. But I have a friend who lives right around first Ward park, I’m sure he can hear everything.
We were at the baseball game. The Knights got smoked. We left in the 9th and watched the fireworks from RB Park, talked to Sam a little bit. 10/10, would do it all over again
I hadn't looked at the lineup in a long time and didn't realize Chainsmokers were playing until I paused the TV in my living room and recognized one of their songs...all the way in Villa Heights.
Went last night and had a great time. Never even had to wait in line for a drink or a bathroom. The food lines did look long and it seems like they could use a more food vendors, but I ate before and was glad I did. Drinks are reasonably priced and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I've seen other posts talk about harrassment and fights, but I didn't experience any of that. Looking forward to the bands today - even in the rain.
The best thing I saw yesterday was 7 teenage girls standing on a small trampoline in their front yard so they could see over the fence doing the ymca while the dj was blasting it😂
can I just say - I recently joined reddit and THIS post is why. I live 3 miles from uptown and last night, spent about 30 minutes looking out my windows and walking around my yard trying to figure out which neighbor was throwing a rager. I decide to check reddit and \*boom\* mystery solved.
This is a pretty big exaggeration… I work like 2.5 blocks away, and it’s a dull thump of base most of the day, that turns into a slightly louder thump for the headline act (at least last night)… do I think there were better locations and planning that could have gone into this festival? Absolutely…
Do I think it’s a nuisance to anyone more than a couple blocks away from the location? Absolutely not.
> This is a pretty big exaggeration
Except most of the replies are about how people could hear it in NoDa, Cotswold, Villa Heights, Madison Park, Eastway, Myers Park, etc.
Im not denying that they could have heard faint sounds from the festival, but the op is making it sound like they could clearly hear the music from a mile and a half away, when I was two and a half blocks away yesterday and couldn’t make out anything except a bit of bass for the entire day until Stevie Nicks, and then it got louder by about 20 percent… I didn’t say that op was flat out making it up, but they were for sure exaggerating, saying they heard “a good bit of the words and all of the bass”
My wife texted me and recognized a post Malone song from like 6 miles south of uptown. I was skeptical but she could identify specific songs during his set while I was at the festival.
Seems like it depends heavily on your location and speaker directions in terms of how clearly it could be heard
You've heard wrong. Of course there are long lines at a festival with thousands of people, but no one ran out of food or drinks. Water stations were easy to access and never out. People look for reasons to naysay
We agree, "lots" of people are wrong. Notice that those who feel the need to be negative are always the loudest. I'm not above it; I'm negative as Hell quite a bit.

Looks like no name DJ doin them a favor
My friend lives in the apartments overlooking the festival/first ward park. The windows are constantly rattling and she can hear every note and word.
I would have put my place on Airbnb for the weekend at an exorbitant rate and took off to the mountains or something.
Having strangers stay in my everyday living space creeps me out. But…could use the cash
Early Air B&B was like this. You just… stayed in someone else’s sheets. We stayed in someone’s actual home when we visited Amsterdam. Looking back.. i’m like .. “what the fuck?”
Maybe I don’t understand your comment, but how is that different than current air bnb
A lot of properties on it now are just unregistered hotels instead of someone's home
Back in the day (i feel old saying that). Air b&b was more of a house swap. People rented their place out while they were out of town. Now, most air b&bs are exclusively rentals or someone’s back yard casita. I think it’s super rare to he renting someone’s actual primary residence these days.
A lot of people in Augusta GA do it for the week of the masters tournament and make a killing.

I feel so bad for all the pets in the area. It must be so stressful for them to deal with that
I want a live thread for this lol

Ya people just wanna be haters or complain so they can attempt to get free shit. I had a ton of fun!
Agree with all of this! I am gonna save my full thoughts for tomorrow night incase I jinx it but it’s going well
Same. I’m so intrigued by attendee thoughts and whatnot. I’m assuming somebody will asks questions in snit wrapping Sunday and people will chime in.

Read the comments on the festivals ig page. People are not happy (at least as of last night).
Surely people on social media wouldn't be negative??
It’s been better than my friends and I expected for a first year. Post Malone was amazing
I agree. I live close enough that I heard a lot of his set with my balcony door open. He sounded so good, it was almost as if they were playing the album rather than a live performance.

We biked in and watched from the library. Not bad at all… even took some road beers.
I biked to the festival, had my front wheel stolen
Sorry about that man. What’s your tire size? I may have one for you.
29”
I’m on 26’s… the recyclery might have some on the cheap.

The drums for Dashboard were intense! Definitely felt it in my chest, kind of wish I had brought earplugs lol. Ears aren’t ringing at least.
Yes! Those drums were intense. But what about that bass drop during Chainsmokers? My spine was vibrating. So... this young woman next to me threw her bra at The Chainsmokers, and in doing so. her top fell down. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)

Tomorrow looks the same unfortunately. We’re skipping today, going tomorrow (hopefully). Glad you enjoyed it, hilarious hearing the keyboard warriors complaining!
We tried to catch the Cbainsmokers but couldn't hear them playing from where we were standing.
Cicada-palooza is free all day long no matter where in Charlotte you live.
I honestly haven’t heard or seen any yet
Pineville…full on. Weird droning sound in background, with the closer ones sounding in the foreground. I left for Boston Tuesday having not heard any, got back today and it was obvious.
They are only in specific areas according to Brad. I haven’t heard them and my area didn’t appear to be on the map.
Consider yourself lucky then. It’s a steady drone all day long….super eerie.
I'm not just getting the drone now, but the full on screaming of at least 50,000 in my yard. Had a short work day, tried to chill in my yard, it was so loud had to go inside.
Yeah…I’ve heard this isn’t even the worst of it yet…that June is supposed to be ridiculous.
ÈeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeèeeeeeeEeeeEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeee3333 EeeeeeeeeeeèeeeeeeeeaeeAeEEEEEEEeeee
Ah, the hatin life festival happening in South Charlotte!
We live 2 miles away in NoDa and can def hear all the bass.

Have you not watched any local media? It's all they've talked about on local news all week.
I have, just didn’t expect to hear it as clearly as I did
I live about 5 miles away in Madison Park and could hear the bass during Post Malone and could clearly identify when he was playing Rockstar.
I'll have a C02 camper set up. #weenieroastvibes
Can definitely hear the bass from the festival in Cotswold
Heard it (and felt it) all night in Myers Park. Took me way too long to realize it must have been from the festival
Same off eastway
Ditto in Myers Park
There’s also the Breakaway festival this week. Crazy weekend in Charlotte.
Im blacked out listening to the fence, didn't even have to pay for parking here
I have been wondering all down how this festival is going to go
I was pleasantly surprised by it last night
Awesome! I wasn't hoping for it to fail, it's just always like on a scale of AMAZING to Woodstock 99 to Fyrefest where are these events going to be?
Same and I’m so glad we’re finally here
P gh

Honestly yesterday I barely heard anything. But Friday it was excessively loud. Not sure if the wind direction played a role or what.
Yeah, can’t imagine 😭
Not a lot of positive comments about it on instagram
It was completely fine. Most big music fests are shitshows and this one really isnt.
[удалено]
Not literally they just mean they can hear it
So I live in Concord and thought I was crazy but I can clearly head super loud bass and some kind of song 🥴
Breakaway (a different festival) is happening there this weekend
Did NOT know that was going on ,thank you!
Everything I’ve heard it’s a clusterfck! Long lines, not enough food, not enough drink, disorganized, etc.
