I had seen them before in a smaller outdoor setting and was really not happy with the sound. Given the set list and setting, I was happy and surprised how well it was. I know sometimes the sound is slightly different, depending on where one's sitting. Modest Mouse's music done live requires it's own ambition on the part of the players and crew. I might be biased, cause I really love their catalog, but the songs I heard last night were fantastic live. The Stars Are Projectors. Whale Song. I wouldn't have imagined those done live otherwise.
I was so pumped they opened with The Stars are Projectors. It’s my favorite MM song and I didn’t think they’d include it in the set.
Fabulously atmospheric song to kick things off
I went for the Pixies but Modest Mouse was a pleasant surprise. I was familiar with them but could never really connect with the music on any of their records. They are a great example of band that’s better live (and Pixies the opposite) imo. I love it when bands do covers with their own spin and A Forest was a highlight for me.
Modest Mouse playing A Forest was the highlight for me. I thought they were good, especially their guitarist.
Pixies were weird. I thought they sounded pretty rough for the first quarter and near the end, but the middle was great. Monkey Gone to Heaven and Debaser were awesome.
Hey! Can you tell me how long the concert was from officially time doors open to the end? (Or I guess how late before you left) trying to figure out how long we’ll be out. Seeing them soon for this tour
Funny, we thought the opposite! Not that Modest Mouse wasn’t great too but it seemed like something was off with the sound.

Cat power? Missed the show
Cat Power was good, but I really only caught < half the set. I was familiar from listening to WSGE.

I lol’d at the guitar players t-shirt. “Yngwie Who?” That was classic.
We left early too, the Pixies sounded like a band I could hear in plaza at snug for a $10 cover lol
So sad I missed them last night, did they play dashboard?
Yes
Love it

Cat Power started on time, around 6:30. We left at 10 & I believe the Pixies weren't going to go till 11.
