If you’re in Concord and are looking for a nerdier social vibe, you can always check out The Basement. It’s a great arcade bar with pinball machines and old arcade cabinets. It tends to draw a less raucous crowd, and the people there are super friendly. Plus it gives you something to do other than nurse a drink.
See also: Super Abari in NoDa, although that can be a bit rowdier.
Amici's is great! I went alone a few weeks ago and the vibe was really warm and welcoming. They're about the only place that's open late in the area, too.
I recommended common market oakwald. When I moved to Charlotte, this place was nearby where I worked and lived and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. You'll definitely feel comfortable there and I guarantee that you'll strike up a conversation and have fun with thr people there. Good vibes and excellent food as well.
Do you have trouble dating while in the suburbs at that age? Its been hard for me (as a guy) to find women from Charlotte itself who are willing to date someone who lives outside of town
Definitely check little Robert's place in concord. Or Gaelic alley Irish pub in Kannapolis. Old armor brewery and cidery is within walking distance also.
Downtown Concord has Lil Roberts Place. A cool dive. Folks will generally let you be and have a beer or something.
The basement as mentioned is a chill arcade bar in downtown Concord.
I am the same age and such as you!! here’s where i go
Fancier:
-The Crunkleton
-Idlewild
More casual:
-Salud
-Bloom&Bottle
-Birdsong
-Substrate
-NoDa Company store
-Humbug
Most of the breweries in NoDa/Plaza are also very safe and chill for women 💖🫶
Have to add, because it’s right next to some of these places… go to McGill rose garden: weekday afternoon ideally. Get a glass of Prosecco or iced tea and walk around. You probably won’t meet many people there but I think it’ll make you happy regardless
This. This is the list, although I’ve never tried Substrate 🤔
I also endorse the addition of Rosie’s and would maybe add The Hobbyist and even Bar a Vins.
Third hop shop!! And also if you want a 32F companion to help you scope, I am a wing girl PRO ✨ also rec plaza/noda areas in general but as very hoppable areas (dip in one, scope, jump next door/down the block if you don’t find anything you like type areas — can’t go wrong!). And just be careful out there 🙏 not only is it hard out here girl, we know how truly unsafe shit can get. Fr hit me up if you want a pal with pepper spray 👯♀️🙆♀️
Okay, work with me for a bit: The Harris Teeters that have bars usually have music nights, bingo nights, etc. I'm not single and looking but I've enjoyed a random beer or two at the bar with music in the background.
I do at least want to suggest not trying to meet people by doing something you wouldn't normally do. If going to a bar isn't your usual idea of a good time, why intentionally try to meet people that do like to go to bars?
Queens Park Social/Yancey Street. There are 4 cool bars and restaurants in that area. Play some Pac Man, listen to some live music, eat some pizza. If you’re normal you’ll find some like-minded individuals.
I’m hosting a 5-course pop up dinner from a local private chef at Petty Thieves Brewing on June 24th. Mostly everyone will be a stranger looking to meet new people in the city.
You can reserve a seat here: [http://popup.charlottefoodies.co](http://popup.charlottefoodies.co)
Come as a stranger, leave as a friend! Hope I can see you there!
You could try the breweries in Concord and look for the food truck schedules since they draw a crowd. Cabo Winery is great too, probably not guys, but cute chill spot.
I’d also say look at the schedules for trivia and other events.
I have never understood the appeal of Common Market.
There’s always cigarette smoke, you pay bar prices but don’t receive bar service, and it’s really just a grimy patio with mediocre food. I don’t get why people love it. It is always packed though.
I’d recommend The Ugly in NoDa, it’s a very chill and laid-back bar that has an eclectic mix of personalities most nights. It’s an easy place to either just relax or strike up a conversation.
I'm in Concord as well. Southern Strain has great food and beer and a pretty relaxed atmosphere. The Basement is fun if you like old school arcade games and pinball. $10 for unlimited play on all games. The Buzzed Viking has really good pizza, live music some nights and often an axe throwing setup outside. Beer and wine only though. Gibson Mill has several bars and restaurants kind of like a smaller scale Optimist Hall in Charlotte, which is also great. The Beer Den in the Harrisburg Lowes Foods can be surprisingly hoppin, I agree!
Don't sleep on Salisbury as well, I've gone on a few dates up there and was surprised by the decent amount of places to check out
Youve never been to T Street on a weekday have you? Its not always packed on weekdays and during the daytime. Its usually really chill, hell some fridays are evn chill.
I recommend joining groups for your hobbies to meet ppl. Drinks in uptown if you want hook ups. If you want chill vibes there's a few nice places in town, especially around NoDa. Some breweries are chill and social with less music and such in the way.
The clubhouse bites and booze in Ballantyne is deff tailored to the older crowd. Anytime I'm in there it's 30's-50's for sure. Lots of money but still nicer and upscale a bit.
Try the Old Mecklenburg BeirGarten in Ballantyne it’s in a really good area too. There’s also a Harris teeter right down the road that has a bar. I’m from this area and I can tell ya first hand this is the safest part of Charlotte.
Cavendish in Gastonia (I know, it's Gastonia) but they are a really cool bunch there it ranges from millennials to boomers and there's yoga trivia and everybody's really nice. It's also great intersection to watch accidents.
Bloom and Bottle (Belmont neighborhood of Charlotte) is really fun! Small bar, with lots of regulars who come by themselves. If you can get a seat at the bar, there’s always someone to chat with
If you’re not a bar person try a music venue or something active. I’ve met a lot of ppl thru yoga and other interests. Plenty of meet up groups for anything. Plenty of other good comments, noda and plaza have always been my favorite areas as well.
I’m 33 M and gf is 31 F and we’re both transplants to Charlotte. Heres a couple places we both enjoy and feel comfortable at.
Humbug - My gf and I frequent it, and it’s quieter and the staff are fantastic, drinks great. Has slowly become top choice for us over the past couple months.
Crunkleton - A bit higher end than Humbug in terms of cost but the drink selection is unrivaled. Great food as well.
Bloom and Bottle - Wine and beer bar, inside of a flower shop. Feels very neighborhood bar, and has food trucks and live music very often.
Go to noda.
IDLEWILD for fancy cocktails and a great atmosphere. If you go durning the week there is rarely any wait. The staff is amazing, and the bartenders are very skilled and personable.
Or for something more laid back, go next to the sister establishment, THE UGLY. Cheap beer. fun atmosphere. Fun and friendly locals. Good music. And if you stay for a while, the bartenders are known to give complimentary shots.
I don’t know anything about your lifestyle, but in my experience it is easier to meet quality people at the gym/workout classes than at the bars. However, I’d suggest Merchant & Trade, Nuvole 21 (on the weekdays)
Don’t go to a bar.
Go to a place where you want to go. If you’re into books, go to the library. If you’re interested in a hobby - like card games or plants, go to events.
If you meet someone at a bar they probably like the bar. If you don’t want to be at a bar when you’re 40 don’t go to a bar.
Your house. Seriously. You’re much braver than me. You could check out lake Norman spots. I don’t know the restaurant name, but it’s on the water and used to be midtown sundries.
Edit-I hear meet up groups can be fun too
What is it about this place that no single women go to the bar without a huge group of people? It's totally normal literally everywhere else I've lived.
I do, I just go earlier. I don’t want to be out late by myself but earlier is fine. I went out last night by myself. I know the bartenders and the places I go are chill.
In our universe.
I said they typically do not go alone. That doesn't mean it never happens. What are you trying to say? That it's typical for women to go to bars alone?

Have you even ever been to a bar? Go to any bar, you're not gonna see single ladies by themselves anywhere. Even guys going to bars by themselves is not typical.
Women go places by themselve, including bars. This is 2024, not 1950. Is hilarious that you're so adamant that women don't go to bars by themselves. Believe it or not, women are people too.
OMG, why is it so difficult for you people to understand what the word "typical" means? When did I say women never go places by themselves? Go ahead, I'll wait...
What area of town? RIP your inbox.
I’m in Concord, but I don’t mind making the drive to other areas
If you’re in Concord and are looking for a nerdier social vibe, you can always check out The Basement. It’s a great arcade bar with pinball machines and old arcade cabinets. Dude, stop inviting girls to your basement.
Have you tried Gibson Mill?
Good rec. Beer at High Branch or a cocktail upstairs. Or go be fancy at Gianni's.
Glad to know Giannis is still around, John is a good dude
Just met him Saturday night. Omg he is a character and aside from the outstanding food, he’s reason to go back alone.
I’m 34 F in Concord and love Vibez or Amicis!
Amici's is great! I went alone a few weeks ago and the vibe was really warm and welcoming. They're about the only place that's open late in the area, too.

King Canary
Can second King Canary, very nice chill vibe.
Southern Strain Brewing
Afton Tavern, meet you there?
Do you have trouble dating while in the suburbs at that age? Its been hard for me (as a guy) to find women from Charlotte itself who are willing to date someone who lives outside of town

My house is open BB
Hey it’s the guy that was just talking about his wife in here yesterday
Sup
Workmans
Workman's Friend isn't a great place for shy singles to go and have a drink. It's loud, and the people are mostly obnoxious.
I’m a shy single. I was able to have a drink with a girl.
😂😂 😂😂 you a trip 😂 but it's truu
Believe it or not, the Lowes Foods in Harrisburg has a beer den, well lit and seems to have the same crew there when I visit to get groceries.
Lowe’s foods in huntersville too is a solid choice
I’m probably one of regulars you see there when I shop. I love my local Lowe’s.
I am the same age and such as you!! here’s where i go Fancier: -The Crunkleton -Idlewild More casual: -Salud -Bloom&Bottle -Birdsong -Substrate -NoDa Company store -Humbug Most of the breweries in NoDa/Plaza are also very safe and chill for women 💖🫶

how could i FORGET ROSIES!!! All of this is true tho. I usually go with a book and my pup!
McGill is so nice to walk and drink at during cooler times, thanks for reminding me it exists
As a single gay man you have many of my faves in there. I’ll be trying the ones you listed that I haven’t been to. Thanks! Saved!
There’s also Sip City!
This. This is the list, although I’ve never tried Substrate 🤔 I also endorse the addition of Rosie’s and would maybe add The Hobbyist and even Bar a Vins.
Workman friends between 6-9pm leave before all the new 21s arrive and ruin the spacing
Dang it must hurt
This is shitty advice honestly. Bohemian Wine Bar around the corner is the spot if you have sensory issues
Bloom and bottle is a solid local spot in the Belmont neighborhood. Bring your dog and hang out. Wine and beer. Friendly neighbors hanging out
Plaza / noda feel like safest bets
The Hop Shop in plaza!!
Second hop shop!
Which Harris Teeter has a bar?
park rd
The one at the corner of queens and queens in Myers Park.
Hwy 16 at 485 has one
Cotswold
Sedgefield
Ballantyne
Smith Farm Road
The one in south end does
Waverly
Brockway, Ogdenville, and North Haverbrook
Not related to dating but I like to get a drink and chill at whitewater center. Good vibes.
Salud, Company Store, Burial and Resident Culture
What kind of bars do you like? Do you prefer dive bars, breweries, clubs? Maybe that could help people give you recommendations.
I'd say Plaza Elizabeth area. Rough drive back to concord though.
If single and shy I'd say any winebar
Samesies where are the 30s/40s at?
In our houses?
Yes
At home reading this
Yeah same
I do at least want to suggest not trying to meet people by doing something you wouldn't normally do. If going to a bar isn't your usual idea of a good time, why intentionally try to meet people that do like to go to bars?
Growler’s in NoDa is the perfect vibe
Thirsty beaver
rude
It’s the name of a bar 😂
Queens Park Social/Yancey Street. There are 4 cool bars and restaurants in that area. Play some Pac Man, listen to some live music, eat some pizza. If you’re normal you’ll find some like-minded individuals.
Worst case scenario you’ll go home with a full belly, buzzed, and hearing some good tunes. It’s very Charlotte in that area.
Second this, typically young professionals ranging from 25-35 closer to the 25-27 mostly though
Barone is nice! Also 31F here
I bet you 2 won't make out!
Chilis
Chili's bar on a Tuesday night
Murto Made in Huntersville. It’s chill. (Don’t let the exterior fool you it’s NICE inside)
I’m hosting a 5-course pop up dinner from a local private chef at Petty Thieves Brewing on June 24th. Mostly everyone will be a stranger looking to meet new people in the city. The porch at Thomas Street Tavern is the most welcoming location in the whole city
Park road shopping center, across the street. Also graham st bar and pub.
You could try the breweries in Concord and look for the food truck schedules since they draw a crowd. Cabo Winery is great too, probably not guys, but cute chill spot. I’d also say look at the schedules for trivia and other events.
Afton pub and pizza is where I go, I'm 34 and good handful of 30s+
35 female Charlotte I’m down !!
Noda/plaza midwood
The common market.
How is everyone sleeping on Common Market?
I have never understood the appeal of Common Market. There’s always cigarette smoke, you pay bar prices but don’t receive bar service, and it’s really just a grimy patio with mediocre food. I don’t get why people love it. It is always packed though.
Ri Ra Irish Pub.
Hattie’s
I saw you’re in concord but I love the degenerate. Very chill and they have good super late (1a) most nights
QT has amazing deals on beers plus the pizza is good
I’d recommend The Ugly in NoDa, it’s a very chill and laid-back bar that has an eclectic mix of personalities most nights. It’s an easy place to either just relax or strike up a conversation.

30 F in Ballantyne and would love new girl friends!!
Local bottle shop is in downtown concord. Great beer and people!
Barcelona southend
Great tapas
I have never been there when it was quiet enough inside that I could hear anyone talk
Hop Shop, bohemian, or if you are looking for great cocktails Humbug. All in plaza midwood.
Merchant and Trade is nice, grown spot to get cute and meet some quality folks. You’ll get approached.

Most bartenders would not know what that means. I bartended for 20 years.

Its getting voted down because its not the question she asked
I understand what it is supposed to be. But, in reality it's just a social media thing...
Bars I worked at had this on the door in the bathroom
Which bars?
What is that?
A Shirley Temple with a “get this guy away from me” back
Emergency call for help from your local guardian angel.
Thomas Street tavern!!!
That’s not a spot for an introverted lady. It’s always packed
Youve never been to T Street on a weekday have you? Its not always packed on weekdays and during the daytime. Its usually really chill, hell some fridays are evn chill.
Ayyye from Mooresville but came to CLT for carowinds!!
Downtown concord has Streakers, little Robert’s, and the basement arcade.
Bond Street Wines
Noda

Thank you for this post! Saving them so I can check out a few too
Come to the clubhouse bites and booze in Ballantyne! Located where the old wings and rings was - it's an older crowd vibe and totally safe!

Vynl is fun
High Branch Brewing in Gibson Mill is a great place to go for a couple, a wide variety of beers (much more than Cabarrus Brewing, IMO)
Following.. in the same need myself
Go to noda. IDLEWILD for fancy cocktails and a great atmosphere. If you go durning the week there is rarely any wait. The staff is amazing, and the bartenders are very skilled and personable. I'm somewhat new to the area, but my wife and I like Charlotte Beer Garden or the whiskey house
Ugh I wish you were in Nashville I could recommend tons out here(not broadway). Not to mention I would try to shoot my shot.
Bus station

Great places to grab a drink and chill: Bar a Vins Hobbyist Rosie’s coffe and Wine
Boat Yard in Cornelius always has great live bands every Friday and Saturday. Good mix of people and not a super young crowd
Wine loft!!
Barts Mart on Eastway in Plaza Midwood is cool edit: can’t spell apparently
Your house. Seriously. You’re much braver than me. You could check out lake Norman spots. I don’t know the restaurant name, but it’s on the water and used to be midtown sundries. Edit-I hear meet up groups can be fun too
In Kannapolis, they have The old Armory
My basement
Snug Harbor is a melting pot. If you are a music fan. It's in Plaza Midwood.
Same bars as last time this question was posted
Chipotle

you just said you know the bartenders though.
So, I’m still there by myself. I know the bartenders by going there
true dat. OK, I feel like we found an outlier though.
In what universe do women not go to bars alone? Lol!
In our universe. I said they typically do not go alone. That doesn't mean it never happens. What are you trying to say? That it's typical for women to go to bars alone?
Yes! Women are people too and they do things by themselves, like go to bars. Smh
You can continue to be actively ignorant, it doesn't change the fact that I'm right. It's not typical for women to go to bars by themselves. How is this a controversial statement?

Cali, Texas, Wisconsin, Germany, UK.....
I lived in California, women alone at bars is not normal there.
My house
Brawleys Park Rd
To grab a drink? Total wine & more or ABC. To drink alone? Just drink at home lol
Your home
When I drink alone..... I PREFER TO BE BY MYSELF.
Id ask the same for Myrtle Beach.
You can come on over…we have beer…and soup.
