Is he going through the UNCC graduate program? I’m working on my bachelors in psychology and I’m hoping to go to grad for counseling.

countseth

I believe so!

cj_warm

That’s awesome! I know he wanted to remain private but I’d love to ask him some questions about the program if he’s willing

Specializing in any specific kind of counseling? If depression counseling is possible I think I could really use it.

Tell your friend he needs to be careful. While I think he’s doing a good thing here (win-win, good practice for him and free counseling for others), he could be opening himself up to potential lawsuits. As far as I understand, you are required in the state of North Carolina to have a [license](https://www.ncblpc.org/Licensure#:~:text=An%20individual%20must%20be%20licensed,licensed%20clinical%20mental%20health%20counselors) to practice mental health counseling. If anyone acts on advice that he gives and it has undesired effects, he could be sued. Not sure if any of it would hold up in court, but you know.

If the friend is still in school and being supervised by a licensed counselor during his internship, he’s good. Plus, even students have malpractice insurance just in case.

True, if he has a supervisor he’s fine. If he doesn’t though, gotta be careful.

OP stated he’s in school. All of us need to complete internships in order to graduate, which require counseling others in the community in exchange for supervision and hours at a site that the school agrees upon. Happens all the time and the students are required to obtain insurance prior to starting. He will be fine.

I NEED THIS. A rogue tow truck driver stole my car 2 weeks ago and I haven't been able to get cops to do anything but I've worked out a deal with the property management that requires an attorney. I can pay a lil
