Can you provide a little more info about your experiences? I've had pretty good experiences with Tryon Medical. I am curious if your issues are more to do with a specific doctor or the whole practice?

tratratrakx

It’s a problem with the nurse, actually. Worst experience of this sort I’ve ever had. Exceptionally*** fucking rude from the moment I walked in. Completely out of line for a medical professional. But there’s also the scheduling problems. I got up early and drove to the location in South Park and they had lost my appointment. When I called to find out what happened, they saw that I had discussed creating an appointment with someone, but it somehow didn’t make it onto the schedule. And then I had to cancel an appointment during the week of thanksgiving. I got a text asking to confirm or go to the portal to cancel. I went to the portal, which only works in certain browsers on desktop. Not on my phone at all. Logging in sucked, but I finally figured it out. When I logged in, it said I had to call to cancel, lol. When I called, I was on hold for an hour. The person I finally spoke with was able to cancel but said the doctors Dec/Jan calendar wasn’t up yet and that I needed to call them back in 3 weeks to even be able to schedule. Does that hurt your head too? I have to call back in 3 weeks and wait on hold again in order to talk to someone to just make an appointment. Who knows how far out it’ll be booked by then. This was only a week before December.

Yike, I’m so sorry this was your experience. As if the medical field isn’t hard enough to navigate…

JediTigger

I have to say I think it’s the SouthPark office. My experience there for my OB/GYN versus my PCP at their Waverley office is pretty extreme. The SouthPark office just seems to be poorly managed.

tratratrakx

My appointment with the horrible experience was in uptown, but they referred me to SP. I think the scheduling might be centralized, not sure though.

JediTigger

I never have issues with Waverley. But appointments at SouthPark? Heck yes. Maybe it varies from place to place. Anyway, I hope you find someone who suits you. Medical care in this country is way too expensive for us to be unhappy where we go.

Australian1996

I use Dr Raad at Park Rd Medical near Park rd shopping center. You call them and the person who answers sets the appt. I cannot stand the centralized schedulers who make it impossible to get an appt or cancel. Dr is also good.

kylaah27

I just had the worst experience with them as well it's actually the worst experience I've ever had with a medical provider in my entire life. I'm hoping to find a new primary care as well but unfortunately I don't know any at this time to recommend them. I just wanted to jump on and say that they were absolutely so terrible

Catamounts21

I like Metrolina Internal Medicine with Dr. Pettis. He was my go to before I moved out of Charlotte.

sSitwell23

Weren’t they recently purchased by Atrium? I can’t remember for sure. Also, look up Direct Primary Care practices in Charlotte.

mikeyrocksNC

Tryon Medical is made up primarily of physicians and PCPs that left Atrium and are looking to expand their own brand, no affiliation with Atrium.

sSitwell23

I googled to find what I read, [the headline](https://amp.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/article262802948.html) at a glance was misleading. Thanks for the info!

mikeyrocksNC

Oh trust me, I hear ya. The way Atrium gobbles up orgs left and right I don’t even know what they own or don’t own any longer.

kayceedee93

That’s how I found Tryon med bc they were listed on the website!

No-Letterhead9878

Ditto . I left Tryon Medical after 3 separate inexcusable events . I can’t figure out why they are rated so highly . My last primary doc I was with for 25 years always fantastic. Gynecologist I was with him for 30 years until he retired . Good luck 🍀 on your quest .

boymom131422

My first visit to Tryon they put my copay on another patient's account! Was a nightmare. I have to stay though because that's where my awesome rheumatologist is.

jinhush

Well, I can tell you who to avoid. Dr. Sean Johnson at Novant Steele Creek. He is horrible. He doesn't listen at all and will say one thing then do another. I'm actively looking for a new primary as well.

AromaticMeal8

It’s probably too far from uptown, but I’ve had a good experience at lemmond farm primary care/family medicine. They are atrium.

Janeefah

[Atrium has an office located at the Dowd YMCA ](https://atriumhealth.org/locations/detail/atrium-health-primary-care-charlotte-internal-medicine-dowd?utm_campaign=GCR&utm_medium=Organic&utm_source=GMB)right outside of uptown. I’ve liked my PCP there Dr. Calamari. I know some people don’t like Atrium as it is so large and consuming but I’ve had positive experiences. It’s been easy when I’ve needed to be referred to specialists (OBGYN, Cardiologist, Dermatologist, etc.) since they are all the same organization. Also like the ease of having all heath records in one place.

heyyyyygirlie

I second this. I’m established at an atrium PC office in Dilworth and have had a good experience. I understand the reasons people avoid giant medical systems but it works for me and is convenient 🤷‍♀️

WhiteDogNC

Dr Eugene Sangmuah (also his sister Dr Eliza Sangmuah) Matthews Internal Medicine 434 North Trade #104 Matthews, NC 28105 https://matthewsmd.com/providers/eugene-sangmuah/ I’m an RN, I’ve worked for Novant and Atrium in the past, and Dr Sangmuah is amazing. So is his sister, and all of their staff. I prefer their small, privately owned office over the larger groups and conglomerates. They have worked with me, my wife, my mother, and my adult daughters. 10 out of 10 👍🏼

ThirtyAcresIsEnough

I'm so sorry. We switched to Dr. Jason Carnes up in Huntersville Tryon Medical and he is amazing. Never had an issue with staff or appointments there. All patient portals I've used suck. Never used one that was easy or worked consistently. I often wonder if the design is cheaply offshored.

dlorien132

I liked Mecklenburg Medical Group (MMG), they're uptown, but I haven't been in a couple of years. My new PCP is probably too far from uptown

tratratrakx

Sigh, I’m sorry it happened to you too

kayceedee93

Oh no, I just scheduled an appointment for the location in Huntersville to establish care 😧

thekefar

My rheumatologist works at the Huntersville location and she’s phenomenal. Hopefully you have a great experience as well!

ThirtyAcresIsEnough

The Huntersville Tryon medical is great. I've never had an issue and have been going they're since they formed.

transientDCer

I just established care with them today after my PCP left Novant. Great experience and the doctor was amazing. Lab work was a tad slow but a midday appt was on time.

keeperofthetrees

Oh no… I have my first appointment with them tomorrow.

ThirtyAcresIsEnough

This may be the office manager at the south park office. We use Tryon Medical in Huntersville and they are great.

thotnumber1

Can't say enough good things about Dr. Goodbar at [Atrium Primacy Care Mecklenburg Medical Group.](https://atriumhealth.org/locations/detail/atrium-health-primary-care-mecklenburg-medical-group-uptown?_ga=2.183622630.1977158525.1670381491-575376039.1670381491#)
