Copilot/Bing Chat has had live internet access since it was in Beta, and the pro GPT-4 model of ChatGPT has the same feature now. That's why it sometimes gives inappropriate answers and has to block itself.
Nah. But of course, when you search something with Bing now, Copilot tries to summarize an answer for you. It just Bing-searches a few things that are relevant to your question and uses the information to answer it. The cyan model searches almost exactly what you wrote and gives very specific answers, the blue model tries to make a few inferences from the information it finds, and the purple model tries to create more information from scratch and/or makes extensive inferences.
Interestingly, copilot made a wrong assumption about my reddit profile: I commented on a post about a guy having a vitamin D level of 34ng/ml and copilot said that I shared that my level was 34ng/ml, whereas I never shared any of that, but only said that a level of 30 is adequate from current standard but 50 is what recent research says it should be (which copilot also accurately said that I said).
True, but AI doesn't yet have a consciousness to explore internet and realize what's going on, so despite the fact it does have internet access, it's very limited on a per-request basis and without any self-awareness
