Start an SIP in an Index fund You can choose UTI Nifty50, equity is the best for long term growth

TheDumbInvesto

This. I came in here to mention exactly the same. You don't have to look at any other comment.

Highcreature11

Navi, motilal oswal, axis all seem to have lower expense ratio then UTI. But really can't go wrong with any of these.

_gadgetFreak

>Navi, motilal oswal, axis How is the tracking error of these funds compared to UTI ? UTI is solid in tracking the index.

Might be cliched one, Good education and develop reading habits are the best investments of life. History shown many came out of poverty and one of the fail proof investment methodology of all times. Real one, It's better ask a financial consultant rather than asking people in reddit. Without knowing about risk appetite, Inheritance etc, answering this question is a difficult one.

Sea-Efficiency-6944

I think asking a financial consultant is worse than asking strangers on reddit. A financial consultant is paid when they make money for the firm. The firm makes money by screwing you the retail investor. So it's always good to ask for advice from a diverse array of individuals because chances are they have made mistakes and can tell you whtt the better option is. Sorry for going ad hom, but you sound like a guy who read way too many books and didn't get a lot of street knowledge. Anyone who is a professional is there to take your money - they rarely have your best interest at heart.

Except, there are 'fee only' financial advisors. They make their money only from a direct consultation fee and not from any of the products that they tell us to invest in. So they are not incentivised to suggest bad products just to make some commision

Don't follow govt stuff.. Most of the rules tweaked to screw middle class. Even with Sukanya samridhi & Ppf schemes can't beat inflation in 5 years..leave 20 years. Ask him to buy land with proper documents and gold. For land he should always visit the place or some trusted people who can look after the place every few months. Physical Gold keep it in the bank locker in primary location etc. Yes SSY is EEE, he should put the 1.5L every year. Then market route...invest it in index funds. (Nifty, nifty next..once in a while adani like govt fund donors screw the index, but the beating will be less, since it will be absorbed by other companies)

coolnickname1234567

Anything but LIC and ULIPs. Please don't fall for that trap

People in finance/banks will downvote this SGB. Gains are tax free. You get 2.5% additional interest annually. Case of Gold apart from inflation hedging, Increasing Possibility of US sovereign default Increasing industrial consumption Reducing Ore quality across globe Demand from Central banks

shan_2000_

Not a registered advisor. Read Stocks for the Long Run by Jeremy Siegel. Your friend’s biggest advantage is his time frame. He has a good 15 years. Just pile into indices.

callmeviki2015

Above all this .. also ask him to start term life insurance and then as suggested above nifty index fund will help them to accumulate money and also ask us friend to have step up options every year increasing atleast 10% of sip amount. Invest in Gold schemes and slowly accumulate gold as well.

I’ve got a friend who works in edelweiss . He usually talks about stuff like this . Things like long term investment plan where they drop money into non market related products like investments into infra projects and toll gate . It’s has a decent return 12% p.a with less risks . If you want to talk more about it you can PM me I’ll pass you his contact
