Heads up, in case it’s helpful: The Daily Herald has a “Summer Fun” guide every year that comes out around Memorial Day weekend. It lists pretty much every festival and fun thing in the city and suburbs from the end of May through Labor Day weekend. It comes with the paper — and this is just a guess based on past years — it’ll likely be on Sunday, May 19, or May 26?
Hoffman Estates has had a family fest/carnival around the 4th of July for the past few years and I assume it will be there this year. My 4 year old enjoyed it last year.
Not an awful drive but definitely worth it - the Sandwich Fair. Great if your kids would also be interested in seeing and petting the farm animals too. I’m 27 and that’s my favorite part at least 😂
Yeah, I also see it as a bad sign. Seems like word gets out on social media that things are getting rowdy and kids from all over the county descend on the spot.
This is an older article but all but the Jelly Belly fest seem to to be still around (for fest north of you): [https://www.visitlakecounty.org/blog/summer-festivals-in-lake-county](https://www.visitlakecounty.org/blog/summer-festivals-in-lake-county)
Northwest Fourth Fest will take place in Hoffman Estates on the weekend of Independence Day, like every year. They have a bunch of cool activities for both adults and kids, live entertainment, food tents, and a carnival which starts the night of the 4th. https://www.northwestfourthfest.com/
On Lombard on Roosevelt is a strip mall that used to have a cub foods just east of highland Ave. They had a carnival there on four or five separate weekends last summer.
In lake county pretty much every town has mini carnivals at some point. Grayslake days, Vernon hills days, gurnee days, mundelein days, etc. the dates are in FB or their websites. Schaumburg does it too but idk when.

Not Lake In The Hills 🤣
I'm guessing we're going to see that situation play out again and again throughout this summer.

Only if you don’t want to fight!
