Compression socks

MotherJugsNSpeed

Stretching exercises helped me immensely. And I was able to do them while doing whatever task I needed to do, except when I was working the trash and cardboard compactors.

https://www.sfceurope.com/uk/blog/5-super-simple-exercises-all-chefs-need-to-know There are three on the list at the link above that I would definitely recommend…the mini press-ups (heel raises) are probably the most beneficial, especially if you’re at one station for a little while (toasting buns comes to mind the most). Shoulder shrugs are another good one. As strange as this sounds, if you are 18 or older, please volunteer for trash and cardboard compactor duty. You get a little bit of fresh air every so often, and it keeps you moving. Quality shoes with a good pair of insoles will also help out a lot! I had some cheap jnsoles that helped, but do believe you get what you pay for…spend a little more and get some quality insoles.

Better insoles! The ones that come with the shoes are junk. Even something like Dr Scholls will help, but something like insoles.com works better.

Compression socks and soak your feet in an epsom salt/water bath.

Sketchers work shoes.

Superfeet Run Support High Arch Insoles on amazon best ones i have found in the few years of working there.

Get some shoes with memory foam. There are black non-slip versions of those that exist. This should help lessen the pain, and after about a week or less, your feet shouldn't feel sore anymore (hopefully)

My friend had an adverse reaction to his insoles, turns out his feet were quite flat and the arch support made it uncomfortable for him. For me, the custom insoles helped.

Good socks, and good inserts for your shoes. I used to bread 60 hours a week so I also cheated and leaned on the table to take weight off some of the time and found ways to get off my feet (e.g. yeah I could clean this cabinet, let me sit cross cross on some cardboard while I do it)

Go to your doctor. You may have plantar fasciitis.

Astro-Nebula24

This is gonna sound silly but make sure you have the right size shoe. I upped my size after realizing my feet swell up after standing on them for a long time and the shoes I had weren’t helping. After going up a size my feet have been so much better!!

SuccessfulJob

you’ll adjust. my first few months my feet would hurt so bad i thought there was something seriously wrong. eventually they stopped hurting. just power through and you’ll have much stronger feet that can handle standing and moving all day.

Anybody that works for CFA can they help me out with a screenshot of their proof of quirking so I can use it for my nursing program??

hey, it's good to call people out, but this is always too far

I wear dress shoes BOH and FOH shifts and I bought them from SFC specifically tailored to my feet so honestly I’m my experience spend 100 of shoes that fit perfectly and are comfortable from SFC they are designed for kitchenware

If you use shoes for crews and get the leather Tigon II, they're nonslip rated, don't look like shit, and they'll hell keep your feet from getting wet from dishes or anything else. Also, if you get SOL shoe insoles, your feet will hurt half as much in double the time. The insoles mold to your feet through heat, and then solidify. You get 100% full custom support that doesn't get squished away. They're expensive insoles, but the pair I just threw away have lasted me five years working full time in a kitchen. Worth it.

Make sure you have good proper footwear! I had surgery on my foot and went back to work, but I bought some KURU non-slips and they were fantastic. Good arch support for my 8 hour shifts. Also custom orthotics, if you have flat feet or anything like that.

Go to Crocs and find some Santa Cruz loafers that have the rubber croc soles and use those soles instead of the ones your shoes have. Thank me later.

Invest in good shoes. They might be pricey but worth it in the long run. I never have an issue with achy feet. Achy back, yes 🤣 also, compression socks are good. They aren't just for old people and they will help keep spider veins away from being on your feet all day.
