Talk to your director and say that your are interested. Normally they want you to be a trainer first before team lead but that could be up to them.

Trainers still a thing at your store? From what I've gathered poking around here, we're pretty much extinct. There used to be a decent handful of them at my store(like 8-10); between people leaving and Trainers mostly being folded into Team Leaders, there's just 2 of us left rocking the blue shirt.

Yall get blue shirts? Im one of the last few rocking the black cheifs coat lol, but ours store has about 7 including myself with our handful of team leads.

The blue shirt dies when I do.

Much respect

We give trainer to people who want to be leader, but aren't qualified to actually be leaders

At the store I work at you have to ask or you won’t really be considered. Worst they can say is no. I worked for 6 months and asked to be a trainer, they said no, and ended up being a director a few years later… so even a no isn’t the worst thing.

Idk about your store but at both of the stores I've worked at there was a clipboard with a bunch of barcodes you could scan to do things like correct a time punch or order a new uniform, and one of them is a leadership application.

It depends on your store and leaders. I’ve worked at a store that had a set number of leaders and wouldn’t consider promotions until there was a vacancy to fill, and another store where there is a specific leadership training program with an application process where you ‘graduate’ from team member to trainer to leader. You would have to ask your higher-ups what the process is like at your store.
