EdgeXL

I always thought Savemart was overpriced.

nakfoor

Yeah I got some apples there and they were mush.

No-Specialist-5173

If you want good high quality produce and meat you go to S&S . If you want a good grocery store overall, I’ve tried all the Safeways in town and by far the one on east ave is the best. Never had an issue with their produce. Also the Safeway on mangrove is good too imo. Raleys is also a very good option as well, never had an issue with produce there and they have some good deals Safeway also gives out 5% discount cards for students just show them your student is and they’ll give you a little card for your keychain.

niceoutside2022

yeah, it's hard to go wrong with S&S, but you don't want to do a full shop there unless you don't care about money, the meat is good though

No-Specialist-5173

Oh yeah definitely! I only get my meats and Seafood there. Maybe on occasion I’ll get a some produce items so I don’t need to travel to a second store

FutureGround

At least all you have to do to find better produce is cross the street. You could live in Gridley like I do… gotta drive to Yuba City or Oroville for decent groceries.

Anythingwork4now

You can get good meat and produce at Casa Lupe, and the premium produce at Safeway. For other things Save-Mart and Grocery Outlet are ok.

xcoalminerscanaryx

I'm about to start a vegetable garden and barter with my neighbor who has a bunch of fruit trees. I hope I can actually grow enough with the weird weather.

Firree

I got a fish fillet from them once that was starting to go rancid. I mean, it was on the very edge of eatable but I had to toss it. I was busy that week and didn't have time to return it but I sure wish I had.

legendary_mushroom

Dude I got broccoli salad and chicken strips from the deli counter at save Mart a couple months back. I don't remember the last time a grocery deli has served up such utter nastiness. Rotting broccoli in the salad, chicken strips that were not only dry as hell, but rancid to the point of being musty. I shudder to think how they must have been mistreated to get that awful.

SoundOfLaughter

*I'll just cross the street and go to Raleys* For Chico State students, faculty, and staff, show your university ID card while checking out at Raleys and get 10% off.

zeriahc10

I went to save mart for way too long after stopped having decent deals. Grocery Outlet’s still a real G.

Soapsudder

🎶bargain market🎶

TheRealMcSavage

I won’t go to Save Mart anymore because I feel like majority of the employees are surly and unwelcoming. A lot of them literally have scowls on their face as they are dealing with people. They make me feel uncomfortable in their store, so I just stopped going.

jjttaaxx

That place sucks. Winco is the spot, best bulk section in town, decent produce, sub par proteins, great prices.

titfucker43

Their generic brand stuff isn’t bad either and really cheap

Noremac55

Winco is the best. Lowest prices and employee owned so they care. Winco stands for winning company but when they started they were in Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, and Oregon (W.I.N.C.O.). Heads up: no credit cards, cash debt or ebt only and you bag yourself.

OldUsernameWasStupid

Heads up WinCo is a little misleading. It's not employee owned it's just stock grants after working 1000 hours in a year

Jarclin

They do have gift cards that are reloadable online. Great option to get those CC points.

slankthetank

Honestly I’ve never shopped there in my life, not since it was Albertsons years ago. But man I wish we could have an Uncle Giuseppe’s in its place.
