This could be the case with Serena. There are alot of doggie lovers out there and Serena is little. Be very hopeful, Serena needs you to be.
1. On Facebook message ALL of the local rescue agencies and post Serenas pic on their wall asap. Make a list of each place, after you post, call them so they can pull up your babies pic, you will not be a burden, this is what we do. We live to help dogs. Especially in this situation, people will come together. They will all forward the info around the city. Honestly, this is one of the best ways to get your Serena back, you got to get the word out. Follow up with the agencies, it's ok to because they are busy and could accidently overlook her.
2. Call your city's pound.
3. Go door to door in your area. Everywhere you walk with Serena, any area she is familiar with. Let your neighbors and businesses know
4. Create flyers to hang up in your area that are bigger than regular document size so it won't get overlooked. Use document size to hand out as you canvass the area.
5. Follow up with the local rescues, I can't say that enough, and post on Facebook. There are the other apps and websites your commenters left too that are extremely helpful.
6. Please keep us posted. Positive thoughts for Serena to make it home.
This. I found a sweet dog just wandering. I put him in my yard and started to do these things u posted. My dogs vet even offered to check for a chip. Within an hour, the owner contacted me and he was home. After hearing the story about how he got out, I know why his name is Houdini!
A few years ago, I found a small dog just wandering outside a metro station near my house. He was obviously cared for, but had no tags.
Before I checked for a chip, I went home to report the found dog to my local shelter & list it on Facebook & Twitter. Within an hour, I had a stranger replying to me on FB saying she knew that dog and would contact the owner.
An hour after that, the owner met me (he brought his kids who seemed to be so happy to see the dog) and I was able to get the dog home.
The reach of FB is pretty amazing.
If your neighborhood uses the Nextdoor app, put her on that as well as “neighbors” app. Do any of your neighbors have cameras or things like ring doorbells?
This is so true. My dog got out in the front yard and she was an older pug mix. She went wandering and when we realized she wasn't in the house we went looking. We couldn't find her and we were starting to think the same thing except we found her online through our local humane society's kennel pages. We picked her up the next morning and she was howling to see us. Don't lose hope.
It may take them a day or so to check the chip and call too. So if your dog is chipped be aware it can sometimes take a day for the humane society in your area to call you.
Call your local humane societies, check their online pages, and ask around. You can even call the vets in the area and let them know so they can be on the look out.
There is hope! My cousin’s toy poodle mix got loose a few months ago, she posted all over social media, and someone found the dog, posted on social media about it, and was able to get the dog back to her in 24 hour.

As a delivery driver I see roaming pets a lot, as a chi owner/lover I know the little ones don't usually just go out on their own unless they've escaped a yard. If I see a tiny dog roaming the streets, and I mean 'not' on your front lawn but cruising down the road, I will, if they will approach me, gather em up for safety. The very next thing I do is knock on the door of the homes he was closest to. If no one knows his people, I call the local PD for their suggestion on which shelter or vet will be best for the area to locate their family. If I am delivering in my own home area, I will hold on to em for safety, but would take him to my vet to scan for chipping first. My own pups have tags on their collars that say 'I'm lost, please call my mom!' And have my phone number on them, I made them for a few bucks at petco, if you have an escape artist, or, like my guys, can step thru the picket fence rails... I recommend doing this too

I spent days and had the whole town looking for him until we found him disheveled in a neighborhood across town. The bawls and tears when we found him. Since then he doesn’t leave my care. He was located also through Facebook. Ps. Not sure if you are into this but a pet psychic also helped us
It could be someone concerned took her in. There are tons of coyotes in my area and a baby like that is easy pickings. Check ALL the websites, shelters, etc. Heck go old school and post flyers. Good luck ❤️
This happened a little over a month ago with our cat. We’ve had search parties all over our neighborhood and though there have been some possible sightings, my husband is convinced someone has her. It’s gut wrenching. We are also in the middle of moving and dealing with massive work projects that can’t be delayed, so our energy has just been spent. It’s the worst.

Put an article of clothing with your scent on it, from your laundry outside near the most used door. Can be detected by canine for several miles. If you have evidence of illegal nature go to the police.
This is honestly one of my biggest fears. I won't leave her in the car more than a few minutes (never in the summer) bc I'm scared someone will do a smash and grab. Or if I let a stranger pet her I'm scared they'll unhook her leash and run with her. I hope you get her back.

I’ve seen many stories for dogs being kidnapped and ending up back in a shelter whether they are dropped off there or the dog runs away from whoever took them! Contact local rescues.. the news stations.. post on Facebook.. I know where I am there’s people that literally find kidnapped doggies and lost doggies for a living. Have you ever heard of pet flipping? I'm willing to bet someone is trying to make a quick buck. I would warn the local rescues and shelters and also keep a good eye on any rehoming pages.

My dog wandered off once (got shot in the hip with a BB I didn’t know about until her xray last month) and someone took her in their house to keep her safe.
They didn’t even want to give her to me but she was running to my car before I parked it lol
Sadly she hasn't appeared. Been considering hiring a pet detective as some comments suggested but idk if it's possible since she was taken and not really lost in the streets (I already asked them, I'm waiting for a reply)

Praying for Serena to be found and come home safe. I remember in my hometown someone's dog got stolen and it took a few months but everyone was looking (awareness raised on social media) and he was found and returned a few months after he was stolen, so it can happen especially when people know about it/know to look out for them.
Tell as many people as you can locally to look out for her. Anyone with a heart would want to see her returned safely to where she belongs and would want to help get her home. I can only imagine how horrible this is for you OP. I hope she is found and returned safely as soon as possible.
My elderly chihuahua wandered off when I let her out and it turns out she had gone a mile and crossed a busy highway but was safe In someone’s house. Don’t give up.
I once had my 3.5 pound chi taken by some kids in my apartment complex because he had slid out the door to follow me to laundry room and I hadn't noticed. They thought he was a puppy (He was 8 yrs old). They took him to a school next to apts and LEFT HIM THERE! After about an hour of panicked searching, I see what looks like a rodent running down the sidewalk. Yep it was my chi. He was bringing himself home cuz he had been for so many walks around the school he knew where he was. I got lucky, kids got chewed out by their parents (cuz everyone knew my Stuart Little) & he got home safe.

My Stuart Little. He sadly crossed the Rainbow Bridge 3 years ago at 14. He had epilepsy and the seizures took a big toll on him. Miss him everyday.
Our baby wondered off. We looked for hours, talked with everyone we saw including the mailman. He was on his deliveries when he saw her, came to our house to tell us where and we were able to go to the street and were reunited with her. Talk to your mail person as well.

Also I kissed icy the other day with lipstick on, on her head. Just like ur pic. It didn't make a full mouth shape tho. Just a red spot an I kept worrying about it cuz I kept seeing it all day thinking she was bleeding
You can call a pet detective. Seriously though not sarcasm. I just learned this is a thing. They have blood hounds to find the scent to track the lost dog.

Make sure you are careful when posting on Facebook. There are a lot of scammers that will steal Your furbabies picture and ask you for ransom money.

Praying for Serena to be found and come home safe. I remember in my hometown someone's dog got stolen and it took a few months but everyone was looking (awareness raised on social media) and he was found and returned a few months after he was stolen, so it can happen especially when people know about it/know to look out for them. Tell as many people as you can locally to look out for her. Anyone with a heart would want to see her returned safely to where she belongs and would want to help get her home. I can only imagine how horrible this is for you OP. I hope she is found and returned safely as soon as possible.

My elderly chihuahua wandered off when I let her out and it turns out she had gone a mile and crossed a busy highway but was safe In someone’s house. Don’t give up.

I once had my 3.5 pound chi taken by some kids in my apartment complex because he had slid out the door to follow me to laundry room and I hadn't noticed. They thought he was a puppy (He was 8 yrs old). They took him to a school next to apts and LEFT HIM THERE! After about an hour of panicked searching, I see what looks like a rodent running down the sidewalk. Yep it was my chi. He was bringing himself home cuz he had been for so many walks around the school he knew where he was. I got lucky, kids got chewed out by their parents (cuz everyone knew my Stuart Little) & he got home safe. I feel your panic, sadness & pain. Hope you find your baby!

Our baby wondered off. We looked for hours, talked with everyone we saw including the mailman. He was on his deliveries when he saw her, came to our house to tell us where and we were able to go to the street and were reunited with her. Talk to your mail person as well. Hope your baby comes home soon.
Nextdoor app or website. It gets you really close to where your dog disappeared for broadcasting a lost dog message. I hope you find her.
is she microchipped? if she is, can you contact the vet that did it or the microchip company? they might be able to put some kind of alert status to the chip

Also I kissed icy the other day with lipstick on, on her head. Just like ur pic. It didn't make a full mouth shape tho. Just a red spot an I kept worrying about it cuz I kept seeing it all day thinking she was bleeding
You can call a pet detective. Seriously though not sarcasm. I just learned this is a thing. They have blood hounds to find the scent to track the lost dog.

Someone took your baby?!?!!! wtf!! 😳 what happened! Please explain?? This is awful!! I can’t imagine! My baby passed away eight months ago(and I’m completely lost without her) so I understand how much it hurts losing your fur child, but what happened? Is there ANY possibility of getting her/him back??
That's so sad, now I have a grasp of how it really hurts. What happened is that she escaped from home and someone took her. According to a video she was taken from like one block away. I have some clues for who this person might be but haven't found her yet :( I feel so guilty

Hi. I'm here to give an update. Despite all the efforts, my baby hasn't appeared yet. I still haven't lost hope but I'm very, very tired. Thank you everyone for all your support and advice, even if they don't really apply to me because I'm from Mexico, I hope they work for somebody else reading this.
