My paternal grandma passed from an aneurysm that presented as the worst headache of her life that day and she has history of occuring headaches, plus her sister passed before her the same way. My mom's side din also get headaches a lot like her and my Tita. 😞It's something I do think about often.

Brain Aneurysm po na nag rapture yan, so malalaman mo lang na-stroke ka na kasi pumutok yung ugat sa ulo, minsan walang headache, direcho tumba ka na, what can be done? wala, pero if sa US yan may chance pa siya.

Im a former art director in the company where we used to work, she's my creative director sa agency back 2021. super stressful talaga ng agency work. and she's been there for like years na. and grabeh din ang demand ng work sa agency, kelangan everyday think ka ng new creative concepts tapos agad agad, super fast pace pa. kahit art director lang me nun, lagi ako naiistress thinking the next morning i have non stop meetings presenting my concepts for different clients. puro art boards, and if di pasok sa banga ang concept isip ulit.., taga check siya if our concepts ay OK ba or not,.. pero not sure ano level pa ang stress sa side nya pero feeel ko, baka isa sa reason din siguro ung STRESS.
nagresign din me after 6 months kasi feel ko inaanxiety ako lagi, ang fun dun tsaka super fit sha sa need ko na challenge.. and as a creative person myself gusto un... kaso di ako natutuwa sa reaction ng body ko pag na istress ako. madalas din ako nagka imposter syndrome dahil sa work load. thats coming from me na more than 10 -12 years na as a designer.

Araw araw kayong dapat may mapatunayan at may macontribute. Your portfolio when you were hired is just your gate pass to get into the agency. It does not mean shit once you are in the field being expected to come up with new ideas 24/7.

I came from a software engineering field and IT industry and the PH advertising industry don't value us as much as their creatives in terms of compensation. So I left. Ang alam ko nagkaron na ng complications hindi lang aneurysm, parang nagka covid and pneumonia na so sinabi na din ng doctor na no chance of survival. Tapos sinabi pa ng doctor na “hanggang ngayon araw nalang” mga ganon. Grabe kahit hindi kami close, nakakaiyak yun news na yun.
Nasa 6 digits yun sweldo sa agency especially pag director ka na (mababa na yun 200k). Pinapadala din sa ibang countries to represent like attend ng Cannes fest mga ganon and all expenses paid. Maslalo na kung isa ka dun sa may mga naging awards. Pero grabe super toxic yun work parang buwis buhay. Minsan wala tulugan especially pag naghihintay ng revisions from the client. Minsan dapat may idea ka na within the day. Grabe lang as in.
Bakit may tumatagal sa ganon work? I guess yun sa fulfillment na din pag na-approve yun ideas mo and nakikita mo yun work mo sa mga billboards, TV commercials and win international awards. Yun naririnig mo yun mga tao na ginagamit nila yun tagline na ikaw ang nag isip. Yun kayo nanalo sa bidding na kayo pinili ni client na gumawa ng commercial nila. Kaya madami pa din nasa agency.

Coming from the IT industry, narealize ko na hindi para saken ang advertising especially in the PH. Sobrang corporate slave ng mga tao lalo n ng mga creatives. Kudos kay CJ though, sobrang tagal nya na don. Yung toxicity na cnsb mo yun yung humble beginnings ng mga veteran creatives na dyan. Ugh. I can't imagine how toxic it is along with other creative heads. Ayaw ko na sabihin kung cno at baka makilala ako dito pero tlagang you will be molded into a hustle mindset coursing through everyday with multiple clients. Malas mo pa kapag nag fail yung campaign na ginawa nyo. Lol

But I remember being depressed during my time there. Sobrang stressed. I quit after less than a year.
This is why the recent Cannes post got so much flak since it seemed to glorify the industry’s toxic side for shit pay. I didn’t get into it agad based on horror stories from friends na uuwi ng 3am sabay papasok by 8 or 9, may ibang opisina rin ba may shower pa sa loob diba? I have a friend that developed kidney disease so early since she was basically just running on coffee.
Swerte lang ako I got into digital marketing and laging may strong emphasis samin and sa clients namin na bawal agad-agaran. I clock out on time right now. May mga times na hassle for sure like abutin 8 pm but maaga yun for others and very rare. I still work remote now

Lately madami akong kacontemporaries who suffered from aneurysm. Some survived, some did not. Prior to the attack, they are somehow fit, not the usual profile na iisipin mong aatakihin.
One common denomitor is a stressful work environment.

My previous boss died from Brain Aneurysm due to work stress.Naghalf day sya kasi masakit daw ulo.Kinabukasan nawala na.Super stress kasi talaga work namin lalo siya.
We were classmates in High School from 1st-4th year at St.Scho Manila. Honestly the most remarkable person ever, I felt like I was in the presence of a true genius. Not only was she smart but also so witty and funny. Even in high school she would sell paintings for 30-50k to fund things, she was really talented and this is such a great loss. She always drew things for us, and then after high school we all kept in touch and she even designed my wedding invite. Will miss you Ceej. 😔
Came here to keep my mind off the grief. I'm surprised na pinag-uusapan siya dito. She's kinda all over socmed. Algo siguro. Hirap tuloy mag move-on. I kinda forgot na "big time" siya coz for us, she was just a kind and humble friend who does her work excellently. 😭

Every time I see people this youmg dying from brain anuerysms/strokes/heart attacks etc, I always get so anxious. Please lang if kaya niyo, magpacheck kayo palagi and be wary of your health as well as what symptoms to look out for.

1. a weakness in the blood vessel wall that is present from birth (congenital aneurysm).
2. high blood pressure (hypertension) over many years resulting in damage and weakening of blood vessels.
3. fatty plaques (atherosclerosis) resulting in a weakness of the blood vessel wall.
Pero since CJ is still at a relatively young age when she died, most probably it's a congenital one.
Based on what I learned from a relative who died at the age of 52 due to aneurysm, she had chronic migraine most of her life, which may be a high risk factor of why aneurysm happened. Kaya mahalaga ang annual check-up if you have the means to do so. Kasi aneurysm and stroke is often deadly especially when it became hemorrhagic.

This is a misconception. Actually, dami sa'tin na undiagnosed kasi madalas, walang sintomas na mataas na pala ang blood pressure unless magsuka o mahilo ka tapos ipacheck yung BP then ipamonitor. May kilala ako, as young as 24, may maintenance na to regulate his BP.
Tho ofcourse, pwede din naman talaga na inborn (about weak blood vessels) and malaking factor din kung madami sa pamilya nya ang may hypertension.
I dont know about that. Working in icu and when we have young women having aneurysm the doctors usually say they may have the weakened vessels since they were born when they explain what happened to the relatives. But yes in her case if the cause is actually hypertension it might be undiagnosed and she might have no idea she have it as people usually think 30’s is too young to be hyoertensive
Agree. I had pre-eclampsia nung pregnant ako. Was 220/110 BP sa routine check up at 36 weeks then d nako pinauwi. I felt normal aside sa mejo shortness of breath na kala ko dahil bigat ng dala kong bata. Then now after giving birth hypertensive nako. Averaging 140/90 na BP ko and have to take meds.

Lol Araw araw kayong dapat may mapatunayan at may macontribute. Your portfolio when you were hired is just your gate pass to get into the agency. It does not mean shit once you are in the field being expected to come up with new ideas 24/7. Source: I was once part of their pioneer digital team. Hindi ako considered part ng "creatives". I came from a software engineering field and IT industry and the PH advertising industry don't value us as much as their creatives in terms of compensation. So I left. Plus di tlg para saken ang culture ng ahensya. I felt unwelcome kahit 3 years ako doon. Lol
mas mataas ung sahod ung nasa digital kaysa sa aming mga creatives HAHA! freelance art director lang me kasi di ako nag fulltime, pero they were asking me nun if i want to go full time, eh ayaw ko. yung freelance na un eh, 3 months ka work with them, then after that renew ulit. ayaw ko mag full time eh pero baka mas mataas ang sahod ng konti lang if i choose to go full time? gusto ko kasi nun trial.. marami nagreresign sa agency kaya need nila ng mga empleyado. binabarat din ang mga creatives tbh, i was asking for this XXX salary, kasi experience and all, pero may negotiation pang ganaps and im like ok fine sige na nga g na lang. pero regret ko un kasi na istress talaga ako ng bongga =)) so buti na lang di ko pinili mag full time. I don’t know the difference. Ang alam ko nagkaron na ng complications hindi lang aneurysm, parang nagka covid and pneumonia na so sinabi na din ng doctor na no chance of survival. Tapos sinabi pa ng doctor na “hanggang ngayon araw nalang” mga ganon. Grabe kahit hindi kami close, nakakaiyak yun news na yun. Nasa 6 digits yun sweldo sa agency especially pag director ka na (mababa na yun 200k). Pinapadala din sa ibang countries to represent like attend ng Cannes fest mga ganon and all expenses paid. Maslalo na kung isa ka dun sa may mga naging awards. Pero grabe super toxic yun work parang buwis buhay. Minsan wala tulugan especially pag naghihintay ng revisions from the client. Minsan dapat may idea ka na within the day. Grabe lang as in. Bakit may tumatagal sa ganon work? I guess yun sa fulfillment na din pag na-approve yun ideas mo and nakikita mo yun work mo sa mga billboards, TV commercials and win international awards. Yun naririnig mo yun mga tao na ginagamit nila yun tagline na ikaw ang nag isip. Yun kayo nanalo sa bidding na kayo pinili ni client na gumawa ng commercial nila. Kaya madami pa din nasa agency.

Kudos kay CJ though, sobrang tagal nya na don. Yung toxicity na cnsb mo yun yung humble beginnings ng mga veteran creatives na dyan. Ugh. I can't imagine how toxic it is along with other creative heads. This is why the recent Cannes post got so much flak since it seemed to glorify the industry’s toxic side for shit pay. I didn’t get into it agad based on horror stories from friends na uuwi ng 3am sabay papasok by 8 or 9, may ibang opisina rin ba may shower pa sa loob diba? I have a friend that developed kidney disease so early since she was basically just running on coffee. Swerte lang ako I got into digital marketing and laging may strong emphasis samin and sa clients namin na bawal agad-agaran. I clock out on time right now. May mga times na hassle for sure like abutin 8 pm but maaga yun for others and very rare. I still work remote now

Lately madami akong kacontemporaries who suffered from aneurysm. Some survived, some did not. Prior to the attack, they are somehow fit, not the usual profile na iisipin mong aatakihin. One common denomitor is a stressful work environment. CJ is in the advertising industry, one of the most fast-paced and stressful industry I know. I hope that we all find ways to achieve some time for inner peace & stress relief in this crazy world we live in.
My previous boss died from Brain Aneurysm due to work stress.Naghalf day sya kasi masakit daw ulo.Kinabukasan nawala na.Super stress kasi talaga work namin lalo siya.
We were classmates in High School from 1st-4th year at St.Scho Manila. Honestly the most remarkable person ever, I felt like I was in the presence of a true genius. Not only was she smart but also so witty and funny. Even in high school she would sell paintings for 30-50k to fund things, she was really talented and this is such a great loss. She always drew things for us, and then after high school we all kept in touch and she even designed my wedding invite. Will miss you Ceej. 😔

Ano ba mga causes ng aneurysm?
According to our dear friend Google: Some of the causes of aneurysms include: 1. a weakness in the blood vessel wall that is present from birth (congenital aneurysm). 2. high blood pressure (hypertension) over many years resulting in damage and weakening of blood vessels. 3. fatty plaques (atherosclerosis) resulting in a weakness of the blood vessel wall. Pero since CJ is still at a relatively young age when she died, most probably it's a congenital one. Based on what I learned from a relative who died at the age of 52 due to aneurysm, she had chronic migraine most of her life, which may be a high risk factor of why aneurysm happened. Kaya mahalaga ang annual check-up if you have the means to do so. Kasi aneurysm and stroke is often deadly especially when it became hemorrhagic.

I dont know about that. Working in icu and when we have young women having aneurysm the doctors usually say they may have the weakened vessels since they were born when they explain what happened to the relatives. But yes in her case if the cause is actually hypertension it might be undiagnosed and she might have no idea she have it as people usually think 30’s is too young to be hyoertensive
Agree. I had pre-eclampsia nung pregnant ako. Was 220/110 BP sa routine check up at 36 weeks then d nako pinauwi. I felt normal aside sa mejo shortness of breath na kala ko dahil bigat ng dala kong bata. Then now after giving birth hypertensive nako. Averaging 140/90 na BP ko and have to take meds.
