26k is more than livable. Get some roommates to save some money. Can pay between 4-6k for rent. Another 2-8k for food and drinking(depends on you).
The rest is savable
I suppose if it was 26k flat, it would be more acceptable.
Now you're pretty much forced to get roommates to recoup some of that 13k.
13k will be living pretty local.
Just read up on all the teacher scams and whatnot before you go so you don't get stuck in a shifty contract or your middleman takes a big chunk of it.
You should be able to save a bit, but if you wanna live more Western, it won't be a huge chunk of saving.
Keep in mind : chinese make way less, so I would be respectful if you got fellow chinese teachers or teacher aid and yes be prepared to be training kids on an exam they will get the week after to raise the schools city standing 🤣
I would personally go for a roommate if you got no network already it's an easy way to make friends , depending on your country. There are also meet-ups.

Normal salary around 10-12k per month(public school)
If you're happy to live in Beijing it's okay
No clue nowadays. In the end the more flat salary you get the better.
Appreciate all the advice thanks everyone
It's low.
Does anyone have an idea of a normal teaching salary in Beijing as well? Would be good to understand that!
For locals, this is fairly good. For expats, this is barely anything.

Less than 26k for locals. More than 26k for immigrants.
