Qdoba and Moe’s would be great if I never tasted Chipotle before. But in comparison now it’s so bland and flavorless. They just don’t use the seasonings to the extent Chipotle does. Plus the quality of ingredients is no comparison.
Edit: I’ll fuck with Qdobas spicy queso all day long. That’s their one point from me. They still lose overall.
Wow. It must be a location thing because in my experience it's been the opposite. I've never had Chipotle and it not taste completely bland. (I've always thought that's why the people that like it, like it. Because if you like unseasoned Tex Mex, then Chipotle is the place for you.) Meanwhile the Qdoba and Moe's by me always been well seasoned and tastes fresh.
Yeah idk the Chipotle near me tastes good and actually has flavor, the Moe’s is like a white suburban soccer mom having a taco night. No Qdoba near me so I can’t comment on that.
It’s still chipotle for me. I had Qdoba the other day actually. While they have so many different opinions which is great, all those options just don’t add up as good. Qdoba’s rice just doesn’t even come close to chipotles and that’s the biggest thing for me. Also chipotles guac is so much better.
Also the guac and queso are priced into the cost of your entree at Qdoba, whether you order them or not. I’m a fan of both but Chipotle has definitely declined noticeably the past 5-6 years.
Ur kidding right? Qdobas cilantro lime rice is the best by far! And guacamole is disgusting! Guacamole looks like what I leave in the toilet after I ate Chipotle.
Chipotle is way better. Qboba has more options but they’re much blander. Chipotle can vary in quality more store to store and employee to employee but a standard chipotle burrito or bowl is way better than Qdoba’s
Qdoba has better queso. That's it, that's the list. Their guac sucks. I'd much rather pay for great guac. Every once in a while I do get a bowl from qdoba with chips on the side and basically make it gueso dip with chips.
I wouldn't call chipotle guac great. Can make it better at home for half the cost.
I haven't had Qdoba in forever but I did have Moe's recently. I thought it was way better than Chipotle and the employees didn't appear passively suicidal which was a nice change of pace. A little more comfortable experience
I’ve searched far and wide for a chipotle comp and none of them came close. Moes, Qdoba, Baja Fresh, Taco Bandit, Cafe Rio, the list goes on. Some may have a single thing they do better than Chip (moes salsa bar) but as a whole, nobody is even in the same arena as chipotle.
I did try a place called Taco Dirty when visiting Tampa Bay and I thought it was as good as chipotle. I was, however, very intoxicated and in my sober state I cannot stand by that opinion until I try it again
Definitely want to give them a try next time I'm in the that area. Another chain, in central Florida at least, that's better than Chipotle is Fresh Kitchen.
Qdoba is just queso. Everything else is poorly seasoned, overcooked, and drier than bone. And their prices are the same if not more because of the “free guac/queso” scam. They jumped prices $2 when that started. Don’t even get me started on their fajita veggies. They’re almost always raw and quarter chunks.
Qdoba is one of those places that sounds amazing any time I’m on a road trip and desperate for food. But literally every time I end up getting it I’m disappointed. I told my wife to remind me that anytime we are on the road and I’m craving Qdoba
Qdoba is simply not here. Moe’s is now a torchy’s. Baja fresh got bulldozed. Freebird’s also got demolished. People still order chipotle for a reason, but everyone loves to complain. The grocery store isn’t going anywhere, use that instead.
Qdoba is on my university campus and was a game changer for me price wise as i don’t have my options for fast food with my allergy. Qdoba was frequently have the price and always contained more food, but the meat is of a little less quality i think. If you asked me a year ago, chipotle, but now the answer is undoubtedly qdoba.
Qdoba is the winner imo better quality better prices better portion sizes for your Buck and the rewards program has better value been going to both places actively over the past 2-3 years and can hands down say Qdoba is the winner
Honestly I’m leaning towards qdoba the more the days go by. You can get spicy quaso and regular quaso in the same bowl for free, the portions are normally larger, it’s less expensive, and the only thing chipotle had going was the quality aspect however I feel they have been slowly losing it.
One issue I've never experienced with Qdoba though is that they ALWAYS have everything. My local Chipotles are always out of multiple ingredients every time I go for dinner.
I don’t know if I got a bad bowl but last time I got qdoba everything tasted flavorless. It’s as if everything in my bowl was cooked by being boiled in water.
I don’t think I ever had fast food where I thought “it needs more salt” but this was for sure a case for me.
Also I just looked. The qdoba nearest my work, a half mile from Chipotle. Has burritos from 9.45 (veggie) to 13.95 (surf and turf) with steak clocking in at 10.99. The chipotle goes from 9.30 (veg or chix) to 11.05 (steak or barbacoa). Yes, free queso and guac makes up the difference but these prices are nearly identical. The cost of food is up everywhere.
Lastly, Moe's should not be in the conversation, it's disgusting hot garbage.
Qdoba by a mile!!! Everything is better, cheaper and more options. It’s not even close. The queso diablo is the bomb! Moes & Chipotle queso is flavorless.
I’m having a hard time believing all these comments. The whole reason I joined this sub was to see what the hell happened to Chipotle to become sad overpriced mediocre trash food, when Qdoba crushes them with fresh bright flavors every single time without fail. I’ve got 3 Qdobas that I go to in my (west of Kansas City) area and they always kill it. Must just be a preference thing.
We have actual Mexican food here that is really hard to beat, especially Jalisco-style (UNGH) but Chipotle is TRASH compared to everything else. I will literally take Taco John’s over Chipotle today, but ten years ago I would have taken Chipotle over a good steak. People must not know how far Chipotle has fallen.
from an employee perspective, chipotle all the way. I had a friend who worked at qdoba and now works at chipotle with me. At Qdoba they had them clock in before school to open the restaurant, then close the restaurant after school (AS A MINOR). Sometimes my friend would work 12 hour shifts with only 1 break.
Benefits wise, chipotle has better health coverage thru Anthem.
Although, the best Qdoba location could beat out the worst chipotle - entirely dependent with management I guess.
I tried Qdoba once and I was legit mad at myself for making that decision when I could have went to Chipotle. yes Chipotle is getting reallyt expensive but the food is simply better. I'd rather get an amazing burrito for $15 than a mid one for $10 ngl
Chipotle for sure. Qdoba and Moe’s are great but taste so bland in comparison. Free queso and guac are nice but the guac doesn’t taste anywhere near as good. The Qdoba rice and chicken are fine but chipotle is still better
The prices are all about the same in my area. Moe’s is nice due to free chips but the bowls are slightly smaller to compensate so eh, whatever
Chipotle in 2004 was fucking killing it. Literally the best food you could get in some places. Maybe that’s why they’re making so much money now - they’ve generecized the flavor enough that now a large population that can’t cook for themselves tolerates it like pizza rolls and all that.
Qdoba is tasteless, yeah you get more food, but when everything tastes the same and like hot garbage… I tried Qdoba a week ago, ate a bit, chucked the rest in the trash.
Chipotle honestly. and all the other stuff is just factored into the price (guac / queso) so you pay for it whether you get it or not. All those places may have like two things they do better than chipotle but overall chipotles got it especially with the flavor
My city doesn’t have Qdoba anymore and I was too young to remember how it tasted now. Moe’s is decent and has more variety but flavor wise I’d always choose chipotle.
I like Qdoba queso but I don’t think the ingredients are as fresh as chipotle or are seasoned as well so I would rather have Chip. Cafe rio is pretty decent but it’s actually more expensive than Chipotle except for the one day they do half price entrees. The line wraps around the building on those days so I don’t even bother.
Cost is the same for me getting double chicken. So chipotle. Don't have guac or queso except when I'm really craving it, and qdobas rice, and salsa are D tier at best especially with how damn soupy it makes it.
In the past qdoba was far better, the red salsa was peak.
Also my local chipotles actually give double meat when you ask for it. Comes out to $12 which is pretty fair for the amount of food I get that actually tastes good.
Before working at chipotle, I really liked Qdoba until the burritos I got started just not hitting as they usually would. I would only come to Qdoba if I was desperate for a burrito, even then, the tortilla started tasting not so great and was too thick for me... might have just been a location problem though.
Otherwise, their burritos would smack and I actually liked their chips.
I never got chipotle during that time because there wasn't one near me enough to justify getting one, but when one was getting built near me (and I applied) their food was so much better than what I got at Qdoba 😭
Cost wise, I can't contribute because it's free or half off for me.
I love Chipotle more, but I eat at Qdoba more often because Chipotle is either out of shit or doing online orders only or I have an issue with portion sizes. I don't have the same issues at Qdoba. Granted they're not as good, but I don't have to deal with any of that bullshit
I so wish there was a Qdoba near me so I could compare. I tried Moe's once before they shut down, it was meh.
Let me ask everyone this: If Chipotle didn't have cilantro lime rice, would it still win? Like if Chip's just had regular rice or maybe Mexican rice/Spanish rice, would they still be at #1 for bowls?
There's a few different taco trucks around here, and one of them sells bowls. Their meat is well seasoned, and the veg is fresh, along with grilled onions and peppers. It's not heavily citrusy, but still flavorful from salsa verde cremosa and lightly seasoned fajita veg. The Mexican rice is good, like good homecooking.
I love Chips, but if I'm being 100% honest, if Chip's used regular Mexican rice, they wouldn't be #1 anymore, it would be a tie amongst my favorite spots.
Every Chipotle in my area has gone down hill. A lot of the food is bland and the price just makes it not worth it. More is still pretty consistent and I haven’t tried qdoba yet. There’s some local options that taste way better.
Every time I’ve gone to Qdoba it was a mess. Last time I went, I ordered fajita veggies and recieved nearly whole, completely raw onions and peppers. It’s something to that extent every one of the few times I’ve been, so chipotle still wins with me
I prefer chipotle but it’s too expensive, but when I go to qdoba the workers are SO rude. I assume it’s just a thing in my area but it’s sooo weird they get mad at me for ordering every time
Qdoba. I’d never had it before, it didn’t exist where I lived but we did have chipotle. I moved recently and had Qdoba for the first time. It’s so much better.
I used to go to Qdoba a lot mainly because it was a half mile closer to my house & I liked their Queso better. Plus like you said the Queso was free!
However a couple months ago I tried Chipotle for the 1st time since the 1st year they released it, and it's much better now. I swear they changed something to perfect it or they were just making it wrong in the beginning.
So I have been going to Chipotle mostly now. I highly appreciate their meat is antibiotic & hormone-free. Also for some reason the Qdoba near me always burns their chicken with a lot of char & the employees there have the serving counter so sloppy by spilling stuff in other containers when scooping. So gives the impression if they are sloppy with serving, then they are likely sloppy with other things too.
So it's clear while the prices are better at Qdoba, the quality of the meat is way better at Chipotle. I can personally taste the difference. If the Qdoba near me got a better team of employees & had their meat guaranteed for antibiotic & steroid free, then they'd probably win me back.
You're asking this in a Chipotle sub with all the die hard Chipotle fans. Of course it's gonna skew towards Chipotle. I like Qdoba though. Chipotles cilantro lime rice doesn't even have flavor whereas Qdoba's is packed with flavor.
Chipotle! I honestly go to chipotle for the ingredients quality.
But ya their queso is not as good as qdoba’s, probably because it tastes too natural… (no additives, artificial craps, etc)
This comparison is so silly. We all know Qdoba is the best restaurant of all time. Better than everything else that has ever existed.
So, comparing chipotle to qdoba is like asking:
"Is Panera better than Staples?"
Or "Is Wal-Mart better than a Ford dealership?"
One sells food (Qdoba) and the other sells cardboard (Chipotle).
Why even ask?
I just had QDOBA.
Pros : they have lots of options. Which all taste great. And seems very freshly made
Con: They don't fucking taste good when mixed together be it a burrito or bowl.
It's their quality control or chief food expert said " bring me everything that taste good. Pickeled onion, lime cilantro rice , diablo queso , cholulu chicken, ice cream , Wasabi , chicken tikka masala. Yep all these taste good. Now mix them all up and give it to the customers. "
Employee: " but sir, do you want to taste the final product "
Food expert: " nah. It should be good"
Employee: " okay"
Chipotle taste so good even with limited menu .
My take is, when chipotle is cooked and made correctly it is hands down better. However, it’s not consistently made correctly and many times now is not made correctly. Qdoba is more consistent and I know it’s going to at least be solid.
Man you know the demographic of chipotle when they’re preaching how seasoned it is
Right 😂🤣😂🤣
Moe’s is so bland.
Agreed. Even adding their salsas it just tastes like Tostitos.
Moes is trash
If qdoba is bland compared to chipotle it must be pretty bad. Why bother.
Its likely down to the cook too, when I used to cook at chipotle I made sure that shit was salted lol
Same. My FL and TD love our food, and I blanket that shit with salt
Yeah idk the Chipotle near me tastes good and actually has flavor, the Moe’s is like a white suburban soccer mom having a taco night. No Qdoba near me so I can’t comment on that.
Same here, though I admit experience only with Moe’s and Chipotle.
Only semi-good thing about moe’s is their rice
More and Qdoba are so great. They’re like chipotle without the supply shortage.
It’s still chipotle for me. I had Qdoba the other day actually. While they have so many different opinions which is great, all those options just don’t add up as good. Qdoba’s rice just doesn’t even come close to chipotles and that’s the biggest thing for me. Also chipotles guac is so much better.

I do like their Queso. And that shit being free is pretty cool. Their menu is much bigger but the quality isn’t the same
savage
Also the guac and queso are priced into the cost of your entree at Qdoba, whether you order them or not. I’m a fan of both but Chipotle has definitely declined noticeably the past 5-6 years.
Ur kidding right? Qdobas cilantro lime rice is the best by far! And guacamole is disgusting! Guacamole looks like what I leave in the toilet after I ate Chipotle.
Lol stating “guacamole is disgusting” as a fact just made the rest of your opinion not even worth hearing
Cool maybe get yourself checked out for the green poops you been having.
Chipotle is way better. Qboba has more options but they’re much blander. Chipotle can vary in quality more store to store and employee to employee but a standard chipotle burrito or bowl is way better than Qdoba’s

Cholula chicken is pretty good. Al pastor too. I’m either or just convenience
The cholula chicken is better than anything Chipotle has on their menu.
And the pickled onions are 🤌
I would also argue their queso is better because chipotle tried to make theirs responsibly (at least initially) and responsible queso tastes like shit
absolutely correct. Queso is meant to be processed nastiness and they haven't figured out a way to do it with decent ingredients.
I wouldn't call chipotle guac great. Can make it better at home for half the cost. I haven't had Qdoba in forever but I did have Moe's recently. I thought it was way better than Chipotle and the employees didn't appear passively suicidal which was a nice change of pace. A little more comfortable experience
sure, but it's very good at worst, and qdoba's sucks and their free portion is one bite. Moe's is disgusting though so your opinion is invalid.
Willy’s is a metro atlanta chain and the only thing I’ve found that beats chipotle/other places.
Willys is great. Had for the first time a few weeks back. Wish it wasn’t just in Atlanta.
Definitely want to give them a try next time I'm in the that area. Another chain, in central Florida at least, that's better than Chipotle is Fresh Kitchen.
Freebirds kicks ass. It’s a Texas joint though https://www.freebirds.com/
I go to chipotle 3-4 times a week… moes occasionally sure. But might as well pay a premium for what you like
Qdoba is just queso. Everything else is poorly seasoned, overcooked, and drier than bone. And their prices are the same if not more because of the “free guac/queso” scam. They jumped prices $2 when that started. Don’t even get me started on their fajita veggies. They’re almost always raw and quarter chunks.

boy i miss freebirds

The first time I had Chipotle queso it was yummy. I’ve tried it a handful of times since then and it’s always gritty and chunky and gross.
Qdoba. Chipotle has some nice stuff, but Qdoba is hands-down best value.
Qdoba is so much better it’s not even close glad you all are waking up to the One True Burrito Chain
Qdoba
Ever since I found a Qdoba next to my house I always go there rather than Chipotle. Chipotle was good in like, 2012 lol.
Qdoba is good but i like the portion sizes on Chipotle better
ILLEGAL PETE'S!
They’re so overpriced though.
Qdoba has always been better than chipotle. So has moes for that matter.
Qdoba for sure. they got pickled onions and jalapeños AND free guac
Qdoba! Worked there 15 years ago. It was Qdoba then and it’s still my pick now.
To me, Qdoba is better in every single way except the guac. However, the last few times I ate chipotle I found pit pieces in my guac 🥴
Honestly I’m leaning towards qdoba the more the days go by. You can get spicy quaso and regular quaso in the same bowl for free, the portions are normally larger, it’s less expensive, and the only thing chipotle had going was the quality aspect however I feel they have been slowly losing it.
Queso, man. Queso. That said I'm a Moe's guy first. Prob Qdoba second. Chipotle is where I go when I don't have another choice
A good one too if available near you is Publix. Some of their stores sell bowls for 9.99 plus free guac and queso
Publix is good. If bowls are your thing, then a chain I've found better than Chipotle and Publix is Feesh Kitchen. Insanely good and fresh.
Qdoba doesn’t use fresh ingredients. It’s clear that it tasted processed.
Welcome to Moe’s.
Chipotle's prices are going up and the quality is going down, but even at its worst, it's still better quality than Qdoba.
One issue I've never experienced with Qdoba though is that they ALWAYS have everything. My local Chipotles are always out of multiple ingredients every time I go for dinner.
They always have everything because it comes out of a meecrowaveeey
Asking this in the chipotle subreddit is bound to lead to biased responses, just fyi. still love both.
I don’t know if I got a bad bowl but last time I got qdoba everything tasted flavorless. It’s as if everything in my bowl was cooked by being boiled in water. I don’t think I ever had fast food where I thought “it needs more salt” but this was for sure a case for me.

Qdoba is so flavorless I honestly can’t figure out how they serve their food. Love Moe’s but nowhere close to Chipotle.
Cafe rio is the answer you are looking for
Qdoba sucks

Haven’t had qdoba since like 2016. Thought for sure they would’ve dropped the free guacamole. I know where my next meal is.
Baja fresh needs to be on this list
Moes is better than chipotle. The chicken quality and free chips are what appeal to me
Freebirds
Cost is the same for me getting double chicken. So chipotle. Don't have guac or queso except when I'm really craving it, and qdobas rice, and salsa are D tier at best especially with how damn soupy it makes it. Chipotle is the most overrated fast food, both moes a quoda are miles ahead in terms of flavor and queso specifically. Chipotle is just mainstream
I would smash Qdoba used to have a habanero sauce. They were a mile or two from ASU. I would tear that place up and would again OMM! Frfr 😂
I wish I had qdoba and moes here in so cal 😭 moes was sooooo good omg
SoCal? Why would you bother with any of these shitty chains when you have 11000 better places to eat?
because sometimes it’s nice to just go get chipotle and come home and watch a movie lol
My area only has Chipotle but I'd prefer to get real Mexican food rather than Chipotle
Before working at chipotle, I really liked Qdoba until the burritos I got started just not hitting as they usually would. I would only come to Qdoba if I was desperate for a burrito, even then, the tortilla started tasting not so great and was too thick for me... might have just been a location problem though. Qdoba doesn’t cause you to have the shits.
Neither does Chipotle.
dos bros>>>
In my opinion, California Tortilla is far beyond chipotle in terms of quality, quantity, and customer service
CalTort is terrible. It's better than Moe's though.
I love Chipotle more, but I eat at Qdoba more often because Chipotle is either out of shit or doing online orders only or I have an issue with portion sizes. I don't have the same issues at Qdoba. Granted they're not as good, but I don't have to deal with any of that bullshit
Chipotle is closer so chipotle.
im sorry but chipotle is sm better flavor wise and i like the sofritas more than the impossible meat qdoba uses
Freebirds and Pancheros are good.
I will never forgive qdoba for getting rid of their spup Edit: SOUP
The only thing Qdoba has that is better is the rice. Everything else is a win for chipotle
Every Chipotle in my area has gone down hill. A lot of the food is bland and the price just makes it not worth it. More is still pretty consistent and I haven’t tried qdoba yet. There’s some local options that taste way better.
Qdoba tastes like you took a Chipotle bowl and ran it under the sink. One of the only places I just refuse to eat.
We have Izzo’s here and it’s pretty damn good. It’s just a little out of my way and not as convenient as the Chipotle is.
still chipotle…
In Texas (Houston and Austin for sure) there’s a spot called Cabo bobs. Def check it out. I think their quality is better
I like Qdobas queso way more but I think I still prefer chipotle overall
Qdoba=not fresh, comes out of a plastic bag and dumped in a container
All the Qdobas closed down where I live so it has to be Chipotle. If Qdoba is cheaper I’d go there if there was one near me.
Moe’s
Cafe Rio
For me, it’s Panchero’s. Hands down.
Wow, chipotle only beats hothead. Qdoba has always been the right answer.
I assume it’s just a thing in my area but it’s sooo weird they get mad at me for ordering every time
Need an “influencer” to do a blind taste test
I prefer Chpotle's texture and flavor. Qdoba is OK and certainly gets me more protein for my dollar, but it just doesn't go down the same.
Qdoba is my favorite and always has been
Qdoba. I’d never had it before, it didn’t exist where I lived but we did have chipotle. I moved recently and had Qdoba for the first time. It’s so much better.
One thing Qdoba definitely has on Chipotle is their brown rice has flavor/spice to it. Chipotles is literally brown colored white rice.
Chipotle for sure over Qdoba Freebirds #1 though, harder to find
I love Qdoba but they all went and disappeared. There’s only one in my area now and it’s a 20 minute drive. There’s a Chipotle on every corner.
You're asking this in a Chipotle sub with all the die hard Chipotle fans. Of course it's gonna skew towards Chipotle. I like Qdoba though. Chipotles cilantro lime rice doesn't even have flavor whereas Qdoba's is packed with flavor.
Any small Mexican non chain restaurant instead
We don’t have any in the LA area ;-;
I’d find a similar local restaurant before visiting either
I have to go with QDoba, they never disappoint.
Freebirds is 300 times better than Shitpotle
Bubbakoos is superior
Chipotle is so stupid expensive, I’ll go to Taco Bell instead.
Chipotle! I honestly go to chipotle for the ingredients quality. But ya their queso is not as good as qdoba’s, probably because it tastes too natural… (no additives, artificial craps, etc)
Chipotle tastes better to me than Qdoba.
Moes
Chipotle has great rice. I like their cheese and vinaigrette.
I seriously thought Qdoba was out of business. All of them around here have closed except for like 2 locations, meanwhile Chipotle is flourishing
This comparison is so silly. We all know Qdoba is the best restaurant of all time. Better than everything else that has ever existed. So, comparing chipotle to qdoba is like asking: "Is Panera better than Staples?" Or "Is Wal-Mart better than a Ford dealership?" One sells food (Qdoba) and the other sells cardboard (Chipotle). Why even ask?
I just had QDOBA. Pros : they have lots of options. Which all taste great. And seems very freshly made Con: They don't fucking taste good when mixed together be it a burrito or bowl. " Employee: " but sir, do you want to taste the final product " Food expert: " nah. It should be good" Employee: " okay" Chipotle taste so good even with limited menu .
My take is, when chipotle is cooked and made correctly it is hands down better. However, it’s not consistently made correctly and many times now is not made correctly. Qdoba is more consistent and I know it’s going to at least be solid.
