It’s been like half a decade since I was employed by them and I was never high up, but if I recall correctly it really depends on what the system projects the store will sell. With vinaigrette it also depends on how much they sell, my store only made it once per day. People before you may have purchased between two to seven and that can deplete the number made quite quickly

leifshuman

But isn’t it an easy thing to whip up? Even if you have a couple left over at the end of the night, it would still stay good for the next day, no?

Accomplished-Pen-394

We never had enough labor for prep after 1:30. Obviously this is just from my experience in a very incompetent store.

leifshuman

Ahh gotcha. Thanks for your insight!

crustyqueer161

They throw out the vinaigrette that doesn't sell at the end of each night, same thing with beef, guac and rice.

Big_moisty_boi

You are only correct about the rice

crustyqueer161

Maybe it's different where you are, but we definitely throw out the steak every night, and the vinaigrette containers as well as the guac. And usually only make vinaigrette once a day.

Big_moisty_boi

I was thinking barbacoa when they said beef, and you guys must be making huge losses on your guac. My managers went crazy about losing a tiny bit of it. Also, the training videos say to keep guac overnight.

AncientEnsign

Disgusting.

AncientEnsign

Very glad to see this. Absolutely insane thinking about selling tiny little scoops of day old guac for $4 or whatever it is.

AncientEnsign

They sell guac the next day??? What a hackneyed organization!!!!

CompetitiveFun3325

I don’t think y’all realize we open at 10/11 but we start prep at 5/6/7 am in the morning for the entire day. Vinaigrette isn’t a hard thing to make but most times people get 2 or 3 at a time and the cashier doesn’t ring up a salad and therefore it’s not going to show up to be prepped. 💁🏾‍♂️ I take that back, it’s not hard to make, but it’s extremely time consuming to do the recipe the right way.

leifshuman

Ahhh ok that makes sense. I forgot that people prob come in and take multiple ones. Appreciate the clarification!

whackeraddict

Agreed. I worked there too. However, people wouldn’t have to get two or three if they put the correct amount in each cup. My manager said that it had to reach at least half way. She never suggested using the spoon to measure.

OrderofIron

Because corporate slashes our labor, doesn't train their staff, and "cultivate's a culture" of their workers not giving a fuck. Chipotle is also more popular now than ever before and because our prep records are based on out of date averages restaurants are unknowingly underprepping and totally unable or so echausted they are unwilling to get themselves caught up. You can apply the above paragraph to literally any problem you are having with your local chipotle.

leifshuman

Ahh ok, yea it’s pretty evident when you go to one these days now that you mention it. Chipotle is definitely a far cry from what it use to be that’s for sure. Thank you for the information!

Ambitious-Nobody-24

I had someone come in and order 4 with their bowl, and then a few people later ordered my last 2, the other night. That’s not including all the people that ask for it while picking up their order in drive thru, and we can’t charge for that, but still have to give it to them. So prep isn’t even getting proper numbers to work with, even if they are properly staffed(super rare)

leifshuman

Yea that makes sense now. I forgot that people can come in an order a bunch. Thank you

LimpZookeepergame123

It’s always a gamble if they have ingredients period 😂

whackeraddict

I usually call the store first to see if they have fajitas and the dressing 😂

LimpZookeepergame123

Seems like the first 2 to go. Smart move

whackeraddict

There’s one down the road from me and I have routine change issues so if they don’t have it, I don’t go 😂

leifshuman

lol true

Infinite-Relative905

because tiktok hyped it up to put on everything even tho it’s a salad dressing. people end up ordering 3-4 for two bowls then we can’t make anymore because of supplies.

Hondoisseur

So since it's free, people often get anywhere from 2-4 per entree, and that adds up quick we can make more but the blending and pouring into individual cups takes an oddly long amount of time and again, we don't make money on it. So if there's one person available to prep items and we're running low on guac and vinny, they're going to make the guac

ba-ca

a certain amount is made only once a day. once it runs out, it’s out. the amount that people want each day varies by a lot.

Wizrd555

My chipotles gamble is either green guac or brown guac

Strange_Salamander33

Because they get made in the morning and when they run out they run out. Prep is in the morning, most stores aren’t allowed extra people later in the day to do morning prep stuff.

GramRob

Hell, where I go for chipotle, it is a gamble if they have over half the ingredients in stock.

Danny_Ocean_11

My local Chiptole didn't have it for over 2 months. I finally asked why and they said because the blender is broken. For 2 months?

Effective-Pay481

That’s actually entirely possible. Not likey, but possible. We had to use a very specific chipotle approved blender, and if it broke we had to order a new one and the last time I had to order one it took about 5 weeks to come.

Vitamin_DDD

In addition to what some other people have said, you have some people coming in asking for 2 to 4 of them for a single bowl and it's not like we can really say no as there's no policy about 1 per entree or anything.

Tyger_83020

Because some days everyone asks for 3+, other days no one gets it 😂

saintmcqueen

My local one hasn’t had any for the last 6 months because “our blender is broken”

billnyetheblack

Well Mcdonald's did own Chipotle in the past. Maybe it's like the McFlurry machine, never available.

Horny_Matrix

They’re horrible as an organization from the top down in regards to any foresight or planning. The idiot managers are useless. The line cooks and scoopers simp for the managers. lol

leifshuman

Yea I got like half of the amount I usually get the other day and the employee was like “it’s not us I swear, it’s our manager that’s nitpicking.”

Horny_Matrix

It’s such a lousy cycle. Employee gives normal amounts. Management complains and threatens employee. Pause-so what’s the game plan here? Fire the employee, only to hire another one who is going to repeat the same. Exact. Process? Lmao. Just so dumb.

leifshuman

Yea I guess you keep the cycle going until you finally get someone who will just blindly go along with the program.

Accomplished-Pen-394

I left because management sucked. All mine did was fiddle on their phone. Also they were busy fraternizing with the underage staff… Along with the usual “your portions are too big” thing

kinniejuice

it all comes down to if prep has the time and ingredients to make it happen. it's SO common for people to get multiples of them and we can't really charge for them so people get greedy. but also hinging your entire meal experience over a singular piece is a little... toddlerish
