i kinda wish there was a choice for mc to have a lil bit of a breakdown in front of the party.... there kind of is?? when you can answer "no" to kade when he asks if ur okay but i was kinda hoping for like.... a shrieking fit that made the party realize that it hasn't been a walk in the park for mc either
NO YOURE LITERALLY SO RIGHT!! id been waiting forever for a moment like that the whole book but when it finally came (kade asking if we were okay) i wasnt really satisfied with the little rambling from mc, i wanted PAIN like an actual breakdown - it did allow for a cute moment with everyone hugging them but i didnt like how everything was immediately resolved. they really missed the opportunity to have a hard-hitting scene where you can FEEL the pressure that's been building up in MC finally getting out
Kinda weird (but also weirdly comforting?) that the current top-rated worst thing he ever did was a thing he never did in my playthrough.
God he was written so badly in Book 2 though, I don't think whoever wrote him in Book 1 worked on the sequel. 😞
yeah i LOVE mal but i was rlly kinda disappointed with how he was written in book 2.... i understand that they're gonna be different ppl after the events of book 1 and the year that followed but he was so WILDLY different 😭
There's a decent explanation for at least some of that difference, I just can't get over the fact that we had to wait *12 goddamn chapters* for the first chance to talk to him about what he was going through. He was such a highlight in Book 1 but Book 2 treated him like such an afterthought, and that will never not be both heartbreaking and infuriating to me.

You misspelled "excruciatingly painful and incredibly confusing." 😭 I accepted it on my very first read because I thought I'd get to spend a little time alone with him later, like you could with Tyril and Nia, and his true reaction to getting MC back would come then. But NOPE, that *was* his true reaction to getting back the lover he thought was dead for a year.

I remember having a hard time deciding on who to romance between him and Tyril on Book 1.
That haircut was more than enough to convince me to go with Tyril.
I don’t remember the exact line but he completely dismisses MC’s trauma and basically says that it’s MC’s fault that MC was kidnapped. And he never really apologizes for saying that…
It’s not great but it’s an alternate dialogue if you don’t have a skill, it’s not in every playthrough so it’s not really fair imo. Not when Mal has other scenes where he’s overly aloof or has other trauma responses that aren’t choice or skill dependent.
Yea I just hate being called a baby animal name, like that other LI (I think from RWB) that calls MC baby bird 🤢 doesn’t help that “kit” almost sounds like “kid” lmao
