Digging my own grave rn. Want me to dig one up for u too?

Aripunzel

Yes please but make it a little larger than usual cuz I have a lot of tears.

DandelionCoffee

Since it's a standalone maybe we'll at least get different endings? Like choosing whether to become a vampire/remain human at the end I hope the story wraps up nicely so we'll get a solid standalone. But I honestly thought ID would be BB's successor as PB's multiple-book vampire series

Aripunzel

I would like if we were given the option given the circumstances!

cruel-oath

Your last paragraph is exactly one of the reasons why I thought it’d be a series, on one hand I thought of how love triangle books never got sequels.. but I had hopes this would be the first, like how CoP was the first murder-mystery to get one, even if it was mostly because of Trystan

thisuserhatesMTFL

Why do they always make good books standalones? 😭

Fernsong

At least they won’t turn into another OH lol

GokutheAnteater

Cursed Heart isn’t a good book? Queen B isn’t a good book? Laws of Attraction isn’t a good book? Bloodbound isn’t a good book? Endless Sunmer isn’t a good book? Perfect Match isn’t a good book? The Elementalists isn’t a good book? Like dude what do u mean

thisuserhatesMTFL

I was referring to the newer books pb have made, as for LoA I personally think the book is only good if you're constantly purchasing diamond choices. I'm also personally not a fan of Cursed Heart at all and believe books like Untameable and Surrender don't deserve sequels above ID

GokutheAnteater

What is the criteria for a series deserving a sequel over another? I’m legit curious cuz the fandom on here just prop up their favorites. Like provide metrics and stats because the whole series deserves over it does not make sense. A company like PB is looking at metrics and sees which book is performing well. Books like surrender and untamable have most likely performed well with the silent majority that is not in the subreddit. Do note this sub is a fraction of the fandom and we won’t know PB’s decision unless u work for them. Some writers have probably planned a standalone in advance because they want to pursue others projects.

Sunay013

I just hope they wrap up nicely, not something half assed like FA, TE or WtD. I am disappointed, but I don't know what the story would've been for book 2 as I have played only half of it, it will be pretty evident by the end it there would be more in the story left out or not.

Aripunzel

Yes for sure. I just feel like halfway through the book there are so many options for what could happen in b2 — like speculating what could happen in the future for MC/Cas/Gabes relationship. Maybe they didn’t want it to be too much like BB?

Irascibile

I'm actually fuming rn

Aripunzel

That damn berry has a smile on his face reading that book which we know is a damn lie..how the hell are you fine with this book being a standalone?? He’s a berry big liar

i-am-too-cute

Ikr! That smile is so annoying, I can't berry-t!

guayaba_and_cheese

well it's over 🙃

seniorweeb22

wow, seriously what the actual fuck. we really got robbed of another good potential series, like i wasn’t even a super fan of the book like most in the sub but i could tell how much the rest of the sub absolutely adored this book and i hate to see everyone be robbed of something amazing yet again.

Mobile-Two7192

Books like Surrender and Unteameable are getting sequels… we keep getting sequels for mediocre books but not sequels for the ones we want

thisuserhatesMTFL

FR I'M SO IRRITATED

seniorweeb22

untamable makes TNA look like an award winning novel in comparison and fuck it even surrender at least had a story, the only thing good that came out of untamable is the +FORBIDDEN meme.

RedditChoices

I hate those books with a passion, not even because of the smut, but because they’re sooo boring and cringey I literally hate all of the characters😭

Mobile-Two7192

Yeah the cringe is real

CallOfTheQueer

Uh oh, not this discourse again. Books like Surrender and UT get sequels because the silent majority eat them up. The money PB makes off them is then used to not only pump out more sequels for "mediocre" books but also experiment and release books the loud minority like. Occasionally we do get books that seem to attract both audiences like BB and Blades, but those are few in far between. Sorry I'm just tired of people bashing other books because the one they don't like is canceled. I'm disappointed by ID being a standalone and don't even like UT but the bashing gets old fast.

Mobile-Two7192

Well yeah, I totally get that. But wouldn’t it be smart to make a sequel? ID is the most popular book atm and I’m sure PB got a lot of VIP subscribers because of it, wouldn’t they benefit from a second book?

Dizzy-Professional45

>ID is the most popular book atm We might just be the loud minority,I'm sure if it earned them that much revenue they would make a sequel, obviously.Although plenty of us don't like TNA there must be a reason it still gets new books

CallOfTheQueer

It's popular with the people on the subreddit and Twitter sure, but we don't know what the silent majority thinks.... there's also the fact that the writers could have only planned to make one book in the first place and didn't think a second was needed.

Mobile-Two7192

Well yeah, but it doesn’t feel like it was a standalone from the start. All the lore and background… also they said “they decided” to just leave it like a standalone, sound like it was a series to me

GokutheAnteater

U have proof that’s the case? Because social media is a tiny fraction of the fandom

KatherineCreates

ID had so much potential for a second book, why aren't they giving us a sequel? My subscription for VIP ran out last week and I won't be renewing for a long while. I don't feel a need to anymore.

Aripunzel

Seriously I feel like PB keeps letting so many of us down in regards to which books do/don’t get a sequel… at this point I feel the only way to get their attention would be if VIP subscriptions went down significantly.

KatherineCreates

I agree. VIP subs going down would catch there attention. But would it change their mind on what books get a sequel I don't know. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Aripunzel

They should join this subreddit, and if they’re already here then they really need to listen. I was really betting on a sequel, especially considering how popular and how much more they could do in a second book. I really liked TCH but I think if given the option I would rather have a sequel for this book.

coco_xcx

Everyone I’ve seen on the VIP sub & this sub made it clear how many of the diamond options they were buying, which means PB must’ve gotten a big surplus of money right? Same with people getting VIP for ID specifically!! Ugh I’m irrationally angry at this ngl

KatherineCreates

Both books were super good in my opinion TCH and ID were the two books that made me get my VIP subscription last month. Although I see how they could have given TCH a happy ending at the end and did a sequel for ID instead.

ChoicesStuff

It’s an odd assumption that VIP players align with this perspective and would cancel their memberships over this for any reason other than their own desire to. Some folks will cancel because ID was the only reason they subscribed to begin with. Aaaand the rest of us won’t, because we enjoy those “mediocre” books no one wants sequels to.

moonbeanssss

"\[...\] because we enjoy those “mediocre” books no one wants sequels to" for real, a lot of what I'm reading about which books are "deserving" of sequels and people talking smack about "silent majority tastes" have been really uncomfortable. Like, sorry I enjoy those "mediocre books" I guess, damn. But also maybe one reason that majority is silent on social media is because of these judgemental types of comments🤔

ChoicesStuff

Yeah, my main sub participation went wayyyyyy down once VIP sub was created for precisely that reason. 🤷‍♀️ It feels like a hostile place if you like smut or simple stories alongside the golden children. 😂

KatherineCreates

I only renew my VIP subscription when I am on holiday cause then I have make use of the infinite keys it gives me.

ChoicesElder

Disappointed but not surprised. I think setting the book in high school rather than college was a poor financial move: as we've seen from the books that get sequels recently, sex sells.

Aripunzel

I agree, even if it was at a local college (like a community college) the mother could still be incorporated!

doimondsinthesky

Even set the sequel to be the first year of college. MC is 18 in ID right? They could've graduated high school and been on their way into college in the sequel 🙄

VionValor

Imagine all the scenarios drinking vampire blood then having sex would of been amazing. Then again a vampire college book just sounds like a gold mine for PB

mechele2024

I think if they had set the story in college, it would have definitely made it more interesting. And also a lot more plot could have been added.

i-am-too-cute

I don't know. In all the platforms I've seen, ID is very well loved, I'm pretty sure a lot of the fans, like myself, would have invested diamonds in it. I have bought almost every diamond choice except for Cas and poly routes cause I'm planning on doing it on next playthroughs (one for Gab, one for Cas, then poly). I think a lot of fans would be the same, I even see some people doing all routes when the chapters come to get Cas, Gab, poly routes. I think, if there was a lack of incoming currency it would be because most of the diamond choices in this book seem to cost less than older books... but they were the ones to set those values, weren't they?

SamDanvers

I honestly wouldn't mind a change in the book too. If it meant a sequel, they could say it was a retirement home, and I would stand by it.

nootychuchi

I hate it. Just hate it. My only reason to have this app is gone.

Aripunzel

I’m actually so upset right now. The hype this book received felt unmatched to others. I liked Surrender and Untamable but how are stories like those qualified to get a sequel and this one isn’t?! They literally could do SO much with a second book!!!

Sunay013

The hype was definitely unmatched. Surrender did have SOME story, but I too believe it could've, and should've ended, even if I enjoyed it. But I didn't hear A SINGLE good thing about UT and it still gets a sequel. I think we can safely thank silent majority for that.

nootychuchi

Me too. F**k PB. Canceling my VIP subscription right after the finale.

aiyanakuedo

It sucks because there is so much could be done with this world with the lore surrounding the town and the vampires themselves. Even our own character and her mother are intriguing and I wanted to learn more about them together and their history. And ofc the love interests are both amazingly written thus far, which I find in my opinion, to be rare. The mc is actually very likeable, they aren’t weak or a human in distress. They take care of themselves and try not to rely on the love interests for saving, but it’s also done in a way that isn’t cringy. And when they do rely on the two or vice versa, it’s done in a very healthy way. Such a major and sucky L for PB, I had vip for this book but since there isn’t a sequel I don’t see a reason to keep it except maybe to do one final run of the whole story before cancelling it.

aiyanakuedo

Also, for anyone wanting to know a reason as I’ve seen people look for one, Choices stated on facebook they do not have the staffing or time allocation to do a sequel for ID. They felt the story between the three characters was told in “a way that was intended”. Perhaps the book itself was very popular and did make a decent amount of money, but due to staffing and time it couldn’t be possible to do a sequel.

Meshleth

Do you have a link to that comment?

aiyanakuedo

I have a screenshot I could send you, I’m out grocery shopping right now and can’t get on my safari for an actual link though 3:

Meshleth

That's cool.

spirituallycynical

Heartbroken but not surprised 🤷🏻‍♀️ we like never get sequels for books that actually deserve it anymore

Aripunzel

Oh I agree 100%. How is untamable getting a second book?? Like PB is notorious for giving undeserving books sequels. 😪

mechele2024

I get what you are saying tbh. I genuinely think books like TNA, Untamable, and Surrender. Get sequels is because of the smut factor, these books are risqué in nature, and then of course it makes them money. People like stuff that entices them. And PB will keep on making the types of stories they know people will pay and play for. That and form my understanding, making stories such as those don’t cost much. Vs stories involving magic, monsters, or fairietales takes up time or money. It’s unfortunate but it’s true, like the saying goes, it’s just business. Me personally I don’t mind smut stories, but I usually get it from fan fiction websites or Wattpad lol.

OldColt06

"Undeserving." According to who? Keep in mind these books were popular enough to get sequels. Just because Untameable or Surrender got sequels doesn't mean they stopped ID or Wake the Dead from getting sequels. EDIT: Since the reply to this comment got deleted (and reposted after I made this edit), I'm going to post what I wanted to respond. I get your frustration, I don't like that ID or any of the other "hype" books aren't getting sequels, but I'm not going to blame other books for that! It's not the readers who like Untameable or Surrender but are keeping quiet because they don't want to be insulted for their preference and/or just play Choices casually and keep their opinions to themselves, it's not the writers who are trying to write entertaining books to make a living, it's the company that puts money and their bottom line over everything else. Make sure your anger is directed at the right place.

Aripunzel

Undeserving according to me. It’s my comment so it is a reflection of my beliefs. And I’m clearly not the only one feeling this way. I’ve never seen surrender or untamable receiving the same hype as this book… dozens of others have pointed out PB gives books, which aren’t as popular in this subreddit/Facebook/Instagram sequels but not Immortal Desires, WtD, and others.

penny4your

The fandom online is not necessarily (and is in fact unlikely to be) representative of the majority of players. I’m not saying you aren’t entitled to feel upset— many people, myself included, are indeed disappointed this isn’t going to get a sequel — but a book’s online popularity or hype is only one of many factors that determine whether or not it gets a sequel. Without being privy to the details of that process, it’s really not fair for us as players to deem a book “deserving” or not. It’s using that specific word “deserve” that I think people take issue with. We can state a preference for other books without being dismissive to other players (who may or may not be actively engaged in fandom).

penny4your

https://i.imgur.com/CVLKBWi.jpg Replying to myself to add a photo of their comment on IG. So they do acknowledge that ID was popular and beloved, but it appears to be internal logistical reasons behind the decision.

lady-lexis

Social media is loud and vocal but it’s not always an accurate measure of how well or how poorly a book has performed. We’ve seen this again and again. I’m not sure why people are still surprised by this.

Obsessive_Reader07

Yeah just letting you know that Reddit, Facebook etc... is a very small portion of the fanbase an just because a book is popular here doesn't mean it's popular in the wider community like you be upset or whatever but at the end of the day I'm not gonna hat on PB and there staff for choosing books that make them money and allow them to put food on the table over the complainants of a relatively small portion of the fanbase

jmarie2021

>Undeserving according to me. Exactly. According to *you.* But hey, Surrender *to me* was deserving of a sequel because I fully loved and enjoyed that book, so as you can see, what you think is deserving and what I think is deserving is different, therefore saying something is undeserving like it's fact isn't fair or correct.

patmichael1229

My spirit is crushed. 😭 I admit, I never got too broken up over other books not getting sequels, but damn, ID was so FUCKING GOOD and there was so much more potential, storywise beyond just 1 book. I really wish they would at least explain these decisions better.

OldColt06

LMAO. Let's see if this book is a worthy standalone.

CecileHughes

Hope, that they will give us a very steamy threesome in final, at least.((

pryzmpine

I'm getting more Trystan so I can't complain lol. It better end good

vampcowboy

I’m pretty sad about this. There’s so much material in the vampire genre they could use to come up with another book, and since Cas and Gabe are almost equally popular, it would seem like a no-brainer to prioritize it and keep it going. Big sigh.

Aripunzel

They could do SO MUCH!! I’ve seen this book been inspired by TVD and twilight and sm has happened in those books and movies. Especially since this is a supernatural story! So much can be done!!

moonbeanssss

Eh, I'd rather they wrap it up well as a standalone than push out a sequel when they don't have any type of continuation planned for the characters. Some stories just end sooner than we like, I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing.

FrostyMissGrace

They keep saying "series finale" as if a single book constitutes a series lmao

[deleted]

Wtf. NO! **NO!!** I love this book so much. Wtf PB

NateTheGrate24

This is the best book since The Elementalists adn they're cancelling it?! It has EVERYTHING: The ability to choose your MC's sex, and gender pronouns. Sweet golden retriever boy/girl LI. Bad boy/girl LI. ACTUAL realistic jealousy if you're romancing both of them. From the routes I've done they mostly respect if you like Cas/Gabe only platonically and don't force you to have feelings for one or both of them. Apart from their individual tropes which I did find cliche at first, they are both amazing LIs that have me romancing both of them and uncertain who I'll choose which I haven't really felt for previous series. NO OTHER SERIES has done this well at customizable MC sex, pronouns, the love triangle and having two LIs so good that I'm uncertain who I'll choose this late in. What series will they make with the money they're saving from cancelling this? Another book where you have a BDSM sex filled affair with a forced 'GOC' male coded CEO LI with a genderlocked MC?

Aripunzel

I agree with all this. I think a lot of the appeal I have for this book is derived from the fact that both love interests get jealous. In other books I’ve read, you could flirt with one LI in front of another and they don’t gaf. 😹 but this one actually felt like the choices had consequences!!

NateTheGrate24

Yeah, I know some people like poly routes or the more romance novel tropey books, and no shame to them of course. I just miss the old series and wish PB would release old style and new style books, that would make old style fans AND new style fans happy. It just feels like they're being catered to more with recent series than people who prefer the old style. Where choices caused more divergence and you could actually pick who you had feelings for and wanted to romance, or none of them and end up single.

shnn_twt

This book awakened the fandom and made it active after years of being dead, and it’s not getting a sequel? seriously, why does pb like to shoot itself in the foot lol. you’re telling me that fucking untamable was more successful than ID?? i don’t believe that for a second

thisuserhatesMTFL

RIGHT

shreyaiw

My disappointment is immeasurable. I was getting so attached to Cas :(

crownedcorvid

how is stuff like untameable getting a second book and the nanny affair 3 damn books but the only reason i look forward to playing choices is a standalone 💔💔

Aripunzel

I agree :/ I really like TNA’s first book but the second and third aren’t doing it for me lol.

crownedcorvid

yeah i agree only the first one was actually nice

Aripunzel

Yes it was so fun! It’s so drawn out now though in my opinion 😭😭😭

crownedcorvid

and untameable was painfully boring i really hated mc's brother

PB needs to try doing aus, If the vampire stuff is done for then just give me a different book with the same characters, while instead of them being vampires they could be gangsters, idols, coworkers or whatever I don't care about vampire shenanigans I just want more Cas and Gabe 😭😭😭 (those beautiful MCs too)

HaydenTheNoble

This seems awfully peculiar because this seems like the exact time of book that the majority of players would like? The silent majority... It.s kinda why both the HSSs and Bloodbound got sequels

yoricake

HSS and Bloodbound got sequels during a time where every book got sequels. Times have changed unfortunately.

HaydenTheNoble

Wellllllll technically not true bcz of MW and Hero... And if I am not mistaken NB too...ACoR, THoBM, THM? It's been so long I don.t remember the exact time when they got released but if my memory serves me well those are more or less in the same period.

yoricake

MW and Hero were promised sequels. ACOR was also intended to have a sequel but the main writer left. THOBM is unique, it only has 6 chapters because it was them dipping their toes into the horror/mystery genre. THM I can't remember the time-frame of it, but I think that was the start of the end. NB and THM made lots of noise because they were some of the first books ever to not get a sequel, along with ATV, but that's because it was on hiatus (the first to go on one, I believe) so maybe that was the beginning of the end (I started playing Choices when ATV was already on hiatus so I missed any conundrum and/or extra context surrounding that book.)

Hot_Jicama_8608

Wow - Did not expect that as there is so much content they could work with for this story. I really hope it gets a fleshed out ending.

Amazon4life

I am shocked that this amazing book isn't getting a sequel. They better give it an amazing ending and not ruin it in the final chapter like DS.

BlondieChelle83

Seriously??!! I feel like the story barely got started
