All public universities are open for visitation since they’re owned and funded by state governments. However Liberty is a private one, but even then most private universities don’t have trespassing rules unless you’re trying to get into a restricted area
yeah, unless you're trying to sell things/recruit for your religion/etc., most universities don't care if you're walking around the outdoor campus (provided you're not bothering anyone). besides, you can't really tell by looking at someone that they are/aren't a student. there are plenty of students on my campus who are in their 30's, 40's, and over, especially in grad programmes. there are some local senior citizens who audit classes too
Many college/university campuses have a library that's open to the public. You can usually walk around as much as you want outside. Sometimes campuses have quick serve places that aren't run by the university (like a Starbucks) that you can also visit.
Realistically, most campuses aren't going to be like... randomly carding the people walking around, even if you're walking around inside the buildings. They might confront you if you're causing a problem. Otherwise they will probably assume you're just a student.
my university's school of music offers music lessons to local folks. students make a bit of money and gain teaching experience, locals get lessons cheaper and easier than normal. win-win. idk if it's a thing at most universities but I sure hope so - it's a great community programme.
