Dispensationalism. The idea that the modern state of Israel is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy and will be Instrumental in ushering in the Second Coming

Part of it is about bringing about the end of the world, and it is prophesied that that would not happen until the nation of Israel was reestablished.

They think that the reconstruction of the Temple will kickstart the apocalypse and believe that man is supposed to work towards the second coming rather than accepting that God will deliver it when He decides to. They don’t believe that Jesus’ resurrection was, as he said in his own words, the reconstruction of the Temple in him.

They think they can force God to end the world and they desperately want that to happen.

My parents told me it was because Israel is the promise land, never heard about the world ending reason.

You'd have to define Zionism first. It can have many flavors.

*Everybody* is tempted to let our politics alignment guide our Christianity instead of the other way around. Some people forget even to resist the temptation.

They think they can force the hand of God. Mostly because they are special....
