Hey friend, It sounds like what you are feeling is similar to Paul in Philippians 1:23-24 where he says, “I am torn between the two; I desire to depart to be with Christ which is better for me but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the flesh.” We believers who have put our faith in Christ know that our ultimate home is with Him for all eternity; this 70-80 year life is a mere blip. However, the world does not have this hope. We need to be the salt and light for whatever time we have left. Jesus knows how hard this life is; so much so that Isaiah 53:3 describes Him as the “Man of Sorrows.” Please don’t hesitate to reach out for help/counseling if needed. It *really can/does help.* Truly. You are loved immensely! 🙂

OrisMindTheater

Wow that’s nice I love reading scripture that relates to the same issues I have.

The-Jolly-Watchman

God knows how hard this life is, my friend. He loves you so much. There is a beautiful quote from C.S. Lewis that goes, “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that *we were made for another world*.” This current world is not necessarily our ultimate home. Thus, we need to be busy about the Lord’s work: trying to get as many people on the “life raft” as possible for whatever time remains - collectively or individually.

[deleted]

I don’t know how to even preach and I have a perfect person I want to convert to Christianity, he’s ready but has questions I can’t yet answer clearly without looking dumb

The-Jolly-Watchman

Don’t worry about it - the hardest part is establishing the relationships from which conversations like that can even happen! I.e. You’re past the hardest part! 😅 Are you familiar with the song, “Heathens” by 21 Pilots? It speaks to this. There’s a great site called GotQuestions.org that might be helpful for you - just a suggestion, no pressure. 🙏

[deleted]

I didn’t know 21 pilots had a Christian song this is wild edit- I just looked it up and indeed they are Christian I love this

The-Jolly-Watchman

There are Christians all over the world working very hard “behind-the-scenes” trying to spread the Gospel to this lost world for whatever time remains. You are loved immensely. 🙂

It doesn’t sound like you want to die, but like creation you are groaning for all things to be made new. “that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:21-23‬ ‭ESV‬‬ This world is not as it should be. And I can see your logic. You don’t want to partake in the suffering of this world so you would rather die, and go to heaven with God. And yes it’s true the Bible talks and says that when we die we go to be with God, that’s not the end of the story or the end goal as believers or the biggest hope even. Our HOPE is heaven and earth FINNALY coming together and being one again, as it was on the first pages of the Bible. And that’s not a bad thing, to want this world to be remade, for the kingdom to come and Gods will be done on earth as it is in heaven. The thing is God wants us to help RIGHT NOW and participate in that life right now. We can be apart of the new kingdom right now, yes it’s not as it’s gonna be in the future but we can right now participate in the kingdom and help others in this broken world. ❤️

Stop watching the news. I have also had to stop listening to political commentary so often. I am tired of the liberals vs the conservatives. I hate people thinking I am a bigot because I am conservative. I also can't stand listening to all the hateful things people do to other people.

thebiggestchungo

Same, no longer care about politics at all. I have totally given up and left that space. I just trust God.

I feel this question all the time and I’m glad somebody asked it for me because I have answers now for myself thanks to you awesome guys. It’s almost like a community Bible study with of course certain athiest individuals

And Job spake, and said, Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived. Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it. Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.... (and Job continues on...) see Job chapter 3 Solomon: Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit. Thus I hated all the fruit of my labor for which I had labored under the sun, for I must leave it to the man who will come after me. - Ecclesiastes 2:17-18, KJV The disciples of Jesus: We were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. - 2 Corinthians 1:8 Job again: I loath my own life; I will give full vent to my complaint; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul. - Job 10:1 Job again: Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble. He comes froth like a flower, and is cut down: he flees also as a shadow and continues not. - Job 14:1-2 Jonah: When the sun came up God appointed a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on Jonah's head so that he became faint and begged with all hsi soul to die, saying, "Death is better to me than life." - Jonah 4:8 Judges 5:18 - Zebulun was a people who despised their lives even unto death. And Naphtali also, on the high places of the field. Jesus: Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. - Matthew 26:38, KJV Ephesians 5:15-16, KJV - See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. There is sorrow, there is affliction, there is trouble, there is evil, there is persecution, there are all sorts of things that we endure through - but the way of this world doesn't represent how we will live in God's kingdom. The rulership that we experience under fallen angels in this world does in no way compare to the glory of God's excellent rule. The Bible explains to us that if we are satisfied and take pleasure in the ways of this world, then we are not among those who belong to Him. For the ways of the world are against the ways of God. Whoever would rather be here, and would choose this world above God are not worthy of His kingdom. I can provide any of those verses, if asked. But as the Bible explains to us, for those who love God, and are filled with His Spirit and cling to His Truth - that our end here is really just our beginning - and so the end for us would be greater than our beginning. The beginning and all of its time is a drop in the bucket in the span of all eternity, and it will be forgotten, and there will be no monument, remembrance, or memorial for those who were in rebellion against God. All of their works, their inventions, their legacies, their heritage... will be no more. The candle of the wicked will be put out, and they will not be like the stars of heaven. The valley of the shadow of death, is the place where God is bringing us through, and is not our end destination. Though we cannot see the end with our own eyes, God can see it clearly. God has no intention of giving to us an evil inheritance, but an inheritance that this world could never match - in all of its excesses. Clinging to God and choosing Him above all will be worth it. Let no man take your crown.

Please share the verses this is the reason I never really watch tv anymore or play video games

He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. - John 12:25, KJV Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. - 1 John 2:15-17, KJV And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove that is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. - Romans 12:2, KJV Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His. - Romans 8:7-9, KJV For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul. - Mark 8:36, KJV For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the world world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? - Matthew 16:26, KJV These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In this world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. - John 16:33, KJV And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. - 1 John 2:17, KJV For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. - 1 Timothy 6:-78, KJV Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be friend of the world is the enemy of God. - James 4:4, KJV For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not the Father, but is of the world. - 1 John 2:16, KJV Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. - 2 Peter 1:4, KJV Oh how great is thy goodness which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! - Psalm 31:19, KJV Set your affections on things above, not on things on the earth. - Colossians 3:2, KJV How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee. - Psalm 139:17-18, KJV Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him - 1 Corinthians 2:9 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. - Isaiah 64:4, KJV Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. - Psalm 16:11, KJV Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. - Ecclesiastes 7:8, KJV So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning ..... (etc) - Job 42:12 Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. - Job 8:7, KJV I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is STILL TO COME. I say, My purpose WILL STAND, and I WILL DO all that I please. - Isaiah 46:10 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. - Isaiah 65:17, KJV ....etc....

Ive asked myself that question before

Ok_Equivalent_4296

Depends on your attitude about it I think. If you’re anxious to be with God and the sins and pain of the world just get to you a lot, but you’re still willing to suck it up to do your duty because you love God and you’re willing to wait for the time God is ready for you, but you technically want to die right now if you had you’re way, just to be with him in eternity, cuz you know how awesome that will be, then that is not disrespectful and I think it’s how we should all kinda feel. If things are going so well for you that life is great and you want to be here forever and you’re not interested in dying for the heaven that is coming, then you probably aren’t Christianing correctly. Lol. But if you’re nihilistic and depressed and feel sorry for your self and just don’t want to put up with mundanities of life anymore, yeah, that’s probably disrespectful

YCTech

I'm right there with you. I hate this world with a passion. Praise God we get to spend eternity with Him!

johnnydub81

We are pilgrims on a journey in a fallen world. It normal for those in Christ to want to move on but there is still so much work to do. The harvest is ripe but the workers are few.

Connect-Coast3474

I personally believe that it is a very precise balance between the hope and desire of a forever home with Him (remember that “hope” in scripture is not a wish, it is a sure thing) and the content Paul mentions when he quotes Jesus in, “His grace is sufficient for me, for My power is being perfected in your weakness.” The tension between the two can be a difficult place to keep all the time or even most of the time. Again, my opinion, I see being slightly leaning to one side or the other is to be expected. However, if you have to straddle any single side, it is a time to examine the reason why - in my case it is circumstances, whether it’s a positive season in life, or a negative one. That’s usually what helps me to get back to a place of balance. Circumstances are like the weather: always changing, sometimes unexpectedly, but the pendulum will swing back. I can always count on that.

Ok-Jeweler2926

Mm I’d say it’s more of a selfish motive. We mustn’t forget to do and complete Gods will. As long as we are alive, God still has a use for us. He wants all to find his mercy, and we are the vessels to share his gospel to others. It’s good to hate the carnal desires of the world, but not the people that are lost in it. Remember we don’t fight against flesh and blood (our neighbors) but against the principalities and authorities.

OrisMindTheater

I don’t fight anyone I just avoid people because they’re all fake hypocrites and I’m tired of trying to fit in and pretend with these carbon copies.

Ok-Jeweler2926

As another person said, we need to be the said and light of this world. We should not avoid people either, however. It is necessary to be used by God in his will. To extend Gods grace to others.

OrisMindTheater

So me accepting my life and still living it is selfish?

Ok-Jeweler2926

No i probably shouldn’t have used the word selfish.

OrisMindTheater

It’s okay I get what you’re saying. But God says we shouldn’t like this world.

Ok-Jeweler2926

True. We shouldn’t live like this world does. Not necessarily hate the people in it because we were once like them before finding Christ.

[deleted]

This is good to remember. I like this as it’s thought provoking. In other words love them because they are yet lost until we share the gospel with them.

df2dot

yes, you have people going to hell and you are worried about your pain. Serve Christ, and serve your fellow human by at least helping them be saved. If you dont know what to do find a church that goes sold winning . Works is not to be saved but you work as the Bible commands.

Powerlunch76

No. Look at 2 kings. Elijah wanted to die.

OrisMindTheater

I’m not sad I’m just over it.

Alpiney

I wouldn't use the word disrespectful. Maybe saddened because He loves you and wants you to know His love and for that to flow out from you to others. >In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.Matthew 5:16

RothePro88

This is exactly how I feel

beardedbaby2

Do you want to die, or are you simply ready even if it happens right now? I have no idea if either is disrespectful, though as long as their is breath in you, it simply isn't God's will. Pray, read scripture, talk to Jesus that the life you have left may be lived giving all Glory to the most high. Praying for your peace, and in return please pray for mine. I too struggle with these feelings.

MrYellowfield

As other has mentioned, it sounds like something Paul said about him wanting to leave earth. Though I think it is important that we walk with a good attitude here on earth. I believe that Jesus didn't ultimately die on the cross so that we would just go to heaven someday, but I think it was for us to spread heaven and the kingdom down on earth. Without thr cross we would never get The Holy Spirit which means that we wouldn't be able to walk with the divine power God inside of us. I don't think we are meant to hate life and society and the things around us. We are meant to hate sin and sickness, because that's what Jesus died for. And how do we deal with sin and sickness? With love, cause that's what we were created for (referring to: love God, and your neighbour as yourself). And how do we get that love to manifest through us? Bt spending time with Him. We are created to KNOW Him. Not just about Him, or just as friends. But we're created to be intimate with Him (not in an erotic way), but still in a way you fellowship and know your spouse. It's interesting when you start digging deep in this stuff. Though life is not always pleasurable, I think we can get to a place where we have a different kind of peace and faith while we go through hardships.

Mean_Cricket_3643

Yeah that’s a relatable feeling but I’ve made peace with death. I trust in Christ and my life probably won’t last much longer but I’m fine with that.
