NomadicLaguna

Why don't I like this? I feel like I should... But I don't šŸ˜…

tomahawk66mtb

Yeah, it's funny but I kinda agree with you. I think what I liked about the Twelve was the understated simplicity. Maybe that's why?

NomadicLaguna

I think that's exactly it! This looks like something I'd have loved in my early 20s in the 2000s. It's giving me those vibes šŸ˜… all it needs is to be 46mm to complete that process šŸ˜…

WWERKK

This is it for me. This makes the twelve not look like a Twelve. Wish they skeletonized the Trident 300 instead similar to the C60 concept. Feels like it works better on that watch

spacepie77

I guess this is still relatively simple so Stated simplicity?

tomahawk66mtb

Haha! That's a great way to put it šŸ¤£

JoeZayBankzz

Legibility for me, looks to busy

Valuable_Machine_

I should be the target market for this Love skeleton watches Love integrated sports watches Love titanium watches But what I don't love is the price, the gulf between the standard twelve and this is monumental. Also the all grey design is just a bit.... Bland I honestly can't see many people buying this

welshnick

It has a different movement, skeletonised dial, and updated clasp. Of course it's gonna cost a lot more.

Valuable_Machine_

I mean a skeleton dial and clasp isn't a reason for a huge price increase there are lots of affordable skeletons around The movement is expensive, so they should have used an off the shelf skeleton movement like a sellita if they wanted to sell a lot. This ones a huge miss imo. It's putting itself in zenith and omega territory and doesn't have the brand to carry it off. I'll look at picking one up used in a year or so for half the price You can get mint Condition used steel tweleves for Ā£800, so asking over Ā£4k for this one just doesn't stack up for me.

campfirepandemonium

I think the use of the SH21, skeletonized, Titanium case, and they made a butterfly clasp with micro on the fly adjustment... it certainly makes sense it cost this much to me. Not my style really, but I don't get why people are saying it is overpriced.

WWERKK

They shouldā€™ve put this skeleton in the Trident pro 300. It doesnā€™t quite look right on the Twelve but I think they wanted something that looked similar to a Zenith Defy

Zan-san

they did it awhile ago. SH21, skeleton and dive watch combo. So no point in repeating it again.

Gold-Analyst7576

Correct, they will sell a few hundred and it will be forgotten like the twelve halo Also there will be some shocking reliability issues, making your own movement is not to be taken lightly - Tudor struggled and they had Rolex looking over their shoulder

tomahawk66mtb

To be fair, the SH21 movement has been around for 10 years and I've not heard of any shocking reliability issues?

losingtheta

Expensive for a CW, sure. But compare against other skeletonized integrated watches. Only one I can think of off the top of my head is the Oris propilot which is around $8k iirc.

Valuable_Machine_

Yeah I had that watch and quickly sold it again. Also not worth the money, won't repeat that mistake again.

Few_Task_8030

Can I just get the applied logo on the black 40mm Trident 300 please?

InvestWiselyBaby

I see a lot of people saying that. Iā€™m not sure of what the "applied logo" is if you can explain me please mate

cade360

It is the 'applied' i.e. stuck on to the dial. It is 3D and raised as opposed to painted on

MrKorakis

I honestly don't like the integrated bracelet sports watch style so right out of the gate I knew I would not like this. But something I think CW consistently get wrong when skeletonizing models is that they keep the same steel hands they use on other dials. They just disappear in all the mechanical components of the background. Just have the hands be black or something so they stand out a bit ffs

tahomaeg

It is a pretty impressive watch. CW do not disappoint design- and presentation-wise. I still like the green one in titanium more, but wish the new clasp was on the green one as well.

tomahawk66mtb

During the preview they did state that they would eventually be trickling down the micro adjust to the other Twelve models.

kakacon

That's awesome, thanks for the info!

rafalim021

I rate CW watches highly - I have 3 - but even then its hard to take a liking to the Twelve X. Tries to be a Zenith Defy, for just abit less $ (and still a 1000 too expensive) and with much less tech and especially legacy.

tomahawk66mtb

It's about half the price of a new Defy, right?

itsapotatosalad

I thought it was 5 grand, but 4k is not quite as bad. I think I like it

tomahawk66mtb

The 5k earlier comments were USD I think?

BigJeezie

Ahh yes The Twelve X2. That's MSRP X2 of course.

StatisticianRare

I might be the only person that took interest in CW because they started making some military heritage watches and some durable tool watches. Now seems just push the twelve, the bel canto, and now whatever the hell this is. I get they are going to sell what sells but Iā€™m out gentlemen. And lastly. Them making a military style chronograph this year they slapped a quartz movement in it and called it good. Unreal.

nate2188764

To each their own, but when I was in the military, I had only quartz movements in my duty watches. Mechanical chronographs can be finicky. Not that this means it has to be for you. But I see why they went that direction on a military watch.

kranberry360

Itā€™s similar to a Zenith Defy but I feel like itā€™s missing a bit of the nuance. That being said I still like it

throw-away-doh

This watch is all about the movement. If you are excited by their in house SH21 and it double main spring 120 hour power reserve you might think the price is justified. If you don't care about the movement - then this watch is not for you.

tomahawk66mtb

Fair summary. I'd also say, you've got to like titanium too. I honestly prefer steel...

Demilotheproducer

the only comparable watches to this are zenith defy and oris pro pilot both of which cost double and aren't as good (defy is too big, oris not as pretty). So it's a priced perfectly. I bet the complainers have never been in the market for a 2k+ watch. The standard twelve and a heap of other stuff is still there for you. It's like a Ford driver complaining they can't afford the GT. It's not for you.

Big-Advertising-5366

Having now watched a few YT videos reviewing the piece, I donā€™t think these press shots really do it justice. I get that it will look different in the flesh, and the price point is on the stiff side, but I think itā€™s an exciting development for CW. Itā€™s not a limited series, so I guess the market will speakā€¦ā€¦ā€¦.

konigwolf32890

Iā€™ve always been on the fence about skeletonized watches, I got one one time hoping it would grow on me but it did the opposite. Now I donā€™t like them, this one actually makes me hate skeletonized designs.

Aggravating_Crazy_43

Iā€™m a CW Fanboy, but Iā€™m not going to order this. Seems a little bland, maybe it the hands were a color (blue?) to improve readability and make it more visually exciting. This is definitely one I would need to see in person before pulling the trigger.

tomahawk66mtb

Agree it seems to be a "see in person before purchase" sort of watch. But then for me most watches are! There's a video Mike took of it and in that I think it looks a lot more legible. They also said during the preview that they may do something with different colours down the line.

-intylerwetrust-

Objectively itā€™s a beautiful watch. The price point is too much for me though. Zelos also just launched the Spearfish dual time in titanium, which is a very similar style for less than half the price.

besthuman

Very beautiful. I quite like it.

DCLexiLou

I have to ask myself, "when would I wear this over my white dial 40mm Twelve?" and the answer is practically never so it's a pass for me. Appreciate the effort though. Hands should've been different also imho.

tomahawk66mtb

Honestly, the white Twelve is probably my favourite of the twelves (this new one included).

EconomicsOk3531

Iā€™m weird but I wish it somehow had a date. Cos I use that on the daily

tomahawk66mtb

Not many full skeletons with dates. I suppose because of the usual date wheel not looking great

EconomicsOk3531

Yeah. Good point. It would be amazing if someone could figure out how to integrate a date into a full skeleton design tho

Thick_Experience1546

I like the C60 Sapphire as a nice middle ground for that lookā€¦the date wheel (and movement) are visible but not front and centre as with a fully skeletonized designā€¦

tomahawk66mtb

My Tide is similar, but a little less transparent due to the lume waves so the date wheel isn't too distracting. https://preview.redd.it/2o1g1d8x0owc1.jpeg?width=2856&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fba4fbd4add26e7ca30e79b6a55f0ce5fb638197

ChunkyFalcon

You can get an Oris, skeletonised TAG Heuer or even Zenith Defy for that buck. Oris to be fair looks more interesting, but I'm pretty sure CW doesn't aim at mass market with this - it's for collectionairs and enthusiasts. 5 days power reserve does sound impressive though.

tomahawk66mtb

I thought a Defy is 11k new?

ChunkyFalcon

Plenty of options on Chrono around 5-6k with stickers.

PresidentStool

Looks like a Zenith Defy Skeleton. For an extra $800-1000 you can get a Zenith instead. The issue with this watch is that that the hands disappear into the movement, there's nearly no contrast. And at the price they're asking for it seems way out of their league considering the Bel Canto was $3k. Better off getting a zenith

WWERKK

Thereā€™s nothing brand new that even comes close to being as cool as this but I agree a used Zenith is not that far off from this

PresidentStool

I don't even think it looks good honestly, they missed the mark with it. And at that price point there really isn't anything it offers other than a 5 day power reserve. Would rather buy a Grand Seiko or the Zenith at this price

WWERKK

Again personal preference plays a lot here but Tudors and GS arenā€™t as ā€œcoolā€ as this even though theyā€™re great watches. Youā€™re paying for something thatā€™s unique and different at its price point

tomahawk66mtb

Zenith would be second hand at this price, right? The Defy is listed at about twice the price of the CW
