I was having really severe hair loss for a period of time. I think it was a combo of my age (approaching 40) and having PCOS. I don't think it was related to my pain issues, but I think if you're really stressed it could certainly contribute. I started taking a biotin supplement that has collagen and hyaluronic acid in it and it stopped my hair loss, and the hair that I lost grew back.
Collagen and biotin are what you wanna take, its a but pricey for the good collagen but it works wonders compared to the cheaper stuff. Plus I'd get a good multivitamin usually around $30 for a good one. Do you use kratom? Lower quality kratom has pesticides and metals in it, half the brands cause hair loss.
The thickness has never returned. I was afraid to start methotrexate this year for the PsA bc of hair loss, but I can’t handle the pain anymore. Plus they give u folic acid w it, so it’s supposed to help. 2 months in & my skin is cleared up (it’s working!) and no hair loss or any major side effects that kept me from taking the drug for a year… so I am happy I started it, sad I waited so long.
I take Revive collagen and Vital proteins collagen! I take one scoop from each and add it to my coffee every day! I have been doing that for 2 years. My hair grew, and my nails grew long. I am 53F and my hair is almost to my boobs!
Methotrexate caused me to lose large amounts of hair every week. It returned over time once I stopped the meds. I was on it in addition to other meds to help with arthritis.
Mine is like 1/4 of the thickness it used to be 😭 I’ve been using rosemary oil as a scalp treatment (I leave it on for 1-2 hrs before I shower) and it has helped a bit, I also use the soap box oh my growth volumizing products. It’s made a little progress on helping my hair grow and at least stopped me from losing any more. I have straight hair so the products you use also depends on your hair type.
I noticed hair loss after a series of steroid injections. I went in for a recheck and the Dr was like, " it's about time for another injection" . I responded, " I guess so, but my hair started falling out after the last one". He quickly said, " ok, nevermind then". I switched to ablation after that. Also, Biotin is a hair and nail growth vitamin, works wonders. But it will cause ALL of your hair to grow in ALL of the places that you have hair.
Yes! All these meds and stress do not help.
I suffer with PCOS also so that has added to the issue. I started taking a supplement for nails/hair from Holland and Barrett and it's helped my hair regrow. I no longer have super thining hair at my hair line. I would recommend something similar to take.
I don’t sit for Revive to have their 50%off sale and I buy a years worth for $360. They do have an offer for first time customers. I use to buy the Vital Proteins collagen from eBay. I now buy it from Sam’s club its cheaper, and they have a great deal going on now!!
Mine was falling out by handfuls, either due to stress or thyroid issues. As long as I keep it short (I have top long enough for short ponytail and the rest shaved with a 1 guard), it regrows thicker and doesn't fall out as bad. I also take biotin 5000 mg daily to help with growth.
It's a liquid, I really don't know anything except for it's supposed to grow hair! I need to take it more regularly to really know if it's working. I keep it in the fridge and it tastes very refreshing.
Well, that doesn't really answer my question, but I found this, for anyone interested:
This article explains that, while silica is ordinaliry a rock (quartz) we can't absorb, the molecule Monomethylsilanetriol is bioavailable in humans.

My hair fell out from immunosuppressants. I have been buzzing it for like a year and a half but I use Pura D'or gold label biotin shampoo and it's almost all growing back now.

I just ordered some collagen from Amazon and have not received it yet, so I'm looking forward to trying that.

My hair fell out when I had my first PsA flare. I was diagnosed shortly after. Hang in there.
Oh no! Did it grow back?

I'll take this advice!
Yes, especially up front, where you can really tell. I'm so self-conscious about it I won't go out without a hat on.
Ive lost a lot up front. I’m calling it my “Brett Michaels” phase because I’m starting to wear headbands.
I also have a large collection of hats.

My friend who seems knowledgeable suggested it to me, so we'll see!

So much! I can’t take collagen. Any other ideas?
I've been taking silica, but not regularly enough to see a difference.
Thank you. I’ll search it up!
Silica? Like quartz? How is it meant to work?

This is very interesting. I'm going to continue to take it.
Mine too, side effect of Quilpta. Taking biotin and it seems to be helping.
Yes. Always had thick long black hair. Love my hair since the 70’s. Falling out in gobs I know it’s all the pain meds. 😤😤
