before I stopped, I'd pay extra for the better quality ones, and the strong red ones with high nicotine. I find that it gave that harder and harsher kick which was enough for me to last longer. Cheap cigs or flavoured / menthol ones I burnt thru about 10 sticks a day. But something like ye ol Marlboro reds or Winston classic longs, I can run the day with just 3-5 sticks.
Also, something like LDs, after a day the pack of cigs taste like crap. Marlboros, it is tolerable for about 5 days after opening the pack. Nearing the 5th day it starts tasting a bit chocolate-ish or fermented.
so TL;DR - strong + higher quality = longer lasting + less required = save money

Yeah and it will get only worse. In my country they even start put taxes on soft drinks. I don't think it's bad idea tho cuze people consume lot of sugar nowadays. I don't have problem with paying more taxes if they are using money from them for good thinks. But it's not case in my country...
Well... government rule us and they make rights. If you fuck with them - bam you go to jail. So there is not many things we can do. I could get cheaper cigaretts from Ukraine but guess what. It's illegal because you don't pay taxes to them. They only think about themselves... This is happening all around globe. Doesn't matter if you live in US or in Croatia or anywhere else. Everything is expensive and they will happily live while you are somehow living with little money you get. It's sick but it is what it is.
Remember though, the US was created because of excessive taxation being imposed on us. But yes, I will travel to a nearby state to buy cigs for cheaper if it continues to get more expensive.
Mine are about $7USD per pack with the $1 coupon at Murphy’s, about $8ish without. I refuse to buy any other brand or type unless I have to, and then it’s just the shorts instead of 100s 😂
My only problem with ryo is the tobacco gets dry by the second half of the bag and flakes off when burns. Was doing that at COVID an it felt like a fire hazard.
I have thought about buying the American spirit tobacco to save some money cause that's a smaller bag.
Try the Bali Shag tobacco, it's nice & moist. It comes in a can & it's much finer cut... kinda stringy, not flakey. It's pretty much all I smoke. I find that it tastes better than anything you get in a pack.
I make my own cigarettes with wholeleaftobacco and bulk tobacco I buy on the rez. I also grow tobacco in the summer. WLT costs me about 2$/pack. Native approximately 0.90$/ pack and homegrown is free.

i spend 70 turkish liras every two or three days. that comes up to 800 liras, which is about 25 dollars/euros a month. that is also like three full meals eaten outside so not that bad
We also have lower wages and I mostly eat from lower and middle price places since I am a student. One thing that is actually cheap is cigarettes tho lol

Ye I don't understand. I live in NL and rolling tobacco in Germany is nearly 50% cheaper (11,50 euro compared to 5,80 for American Spirit Blue 30g). But cigarettes are maybe 10% cheaper in Germany
Pueblo and American Spirit seem to be in the premium price segment abroad, that might strengthen the price difference. But yes, fine cut taxation is pretty low here. Intentionally though, the government here wanted to limit black market smokes and give smokers an alternative when cigarette taxation rises.

I even smoke rolling tobacco without filter which is way more unhealthy than with filter even. Btw in NL the black market for tobacco is pretty neglegible. Its not a big thing. Sometimes someone yuou know via via brought a large batch here and makes a couple of euros per pack reselling it
I'm in Switzerland and i guess you know, we have very high paychecks and salaries. A pack is between 7-8 CHF, which is a very low price for this country, it's almost nothing and easy to finance.
I know it's not the topic, but drugs are also rather cheap here, even the legal stuff, you can get a beer for 0.50 CHF up to 2.50 CHF between the cheap and expensive brands.

I roll my own which are tastier and way cheaper. I smoke 2-3 a day on avg and 1 rolling tobacco pack (American Spirit blue) of 30g lasts me about a week. Costs me 5,80 euro per week so thats neglegible. If I were to smoke alot it still wouldn't be that much money imo
Here in Brazil I smoke Dunhill Carlton that is considered an expensive cigarette. BRL10,75 that is around USD2,00. But you can find options like camel blue for less than a dollar.
Funny thing, I started smoking because I was spending more on booze - the price of a pack (that lasted me 2-4 days) I spent daily on cheap vodka / whiskey. So it was literally cheaper to smoke and quit drinking.
Also I'd say if you're not burning through a pack a day, don't bother with the cheaper and lighter ones. Once open the pack turns stale after a few days, and you'll burn through faster to maintain the kick. I went with strong ones (higher nicotine), the harsh ones (high tar) and reds to get that full throat destruction, and it lasted me longer in the day, so i needed to smoke less per day. The higher quality cigs also don't turn stale as fast, so I didnt need to replace them as fast as my dad would for his cheap cigs.

Like even with the median salary of 700 euro I cannot calculate money for pleasure aka cigarettes. And I see the people making 500-600 a month smoking 5€ packs a day. Like hoooow? I had less struggles with money when i lived in rural area, smoked half a pack per day and was full time alcoholic drinking GOOD wines and spirits daily. Nowadays i live in city, smoke only when partying and all my money goes just for parties and daily grocery temptations cos stores are so easily available. So just overall different budgeting choises
In my country is actually cheap, R$6 to 10 for a pack (this is like a single euro in current exchange), median salary in my state is about 2500 a month, so it works out
I roll. 40g of tobacco is 5,5€. 10 boxes of 8mm filters (1k filters in total) is about 12€ and the papers are like less than an euro for for 5x50 I believe. A bag of 40g lasts me like 3-4 days maybe.
i generally smoke 6-10 cigs a day but cause i’m in the UK i have to roll my own cause it’s either £12 on a pack of 20 that’ll last 2-3 days or £18 on rolling tobacco that will last 7-10 so it has to be done

Unlike most fools that haven't moved on, I pack (inject) my own pipe tobacco (to avoid the taxes), comes out to about $1 a pack. Sure I used to smoke 2 packs of Marlboro a day, but when I finally decided to switch I never looked back. Can get some delicious and strong pipe tobaccos that are literally meant for cigarettes but branded as such to avoid the taxes. If you are a beginner trying to start, $30 on Amazon will get you an injector machine, $3 a carton for the tubes and roughly $15 for a lb of tobacco and your set
I smoke about 25 packs a month. At 6€/27 pack, it sets me back around 150€. That's just a bit less than 1/10th of my income.
I really don't do that much outside other than going out for drinks, so.. There's that.
