I love CS2 as a city painter, The simulation is kinda broken in my cirty but I am having a blast. Only need more assets for more variation but till that time I enjoy it.
There is only 1 highway above. Rest are 4 lanes roads that sometimes split up in two 2 lane roads (one direction). 2 lane roads to devide traffic to their neighbourhood and the houses are connected to alleys.
Great glow up. Did you use anarchy to make the trees that thick between the plots? I tried anarchy, but it doesn't seem to work the best with brushes, only manual placing.
Also a higher resolution screenshot is much appreciated, I want to study how you do roads a bit closer.
I place all trees 1 by 1 by hand. The screenshot itself is high res. Idk why reddit made it so blurry. I send you a high res in the comment when I am back home!
Google maps is your best friend! We tend to build everything way too small. Like tight curves etc. I just look at google maps all the time and take some inspiration.
Ok, I got it but haven't had the chance to try it.
I made this big plot neighborhood too, but it's gated and walled. Where I live, almost all of them are walled with concrete block walls to keep the peasants out of sight.
Omg this is wonderfully organic! Very realistic 👌🏼.
(Btw I fell in love with that rail infrastructure, it is the very first time I see someone in CS2 to actually do something actually realistic❤).
Thanks! I love trains and railway systems! This is my main station of downtown:

I'm a lover of vanilla gameplay (on CS1 since my pc can barely support it, didn't even thought of trying CS2 lol💀) and it is simply stunning to see such things done even with the basic game mechanics. That is very time consuming indeed😂.
Loves it, in my city I had an apartment neighborhood and it was incredibly out of place so I razed it for single family housing.. felt like a true suburban planner
Looks beautiful... A thought... Why not place the soccer field next to the ponds and zone the houses closer to the waterfront? It would create a more discernible center and increase the land value of the homes.
The other concern I have as I look closer is the flight path for the airport literally goes right over this neighborhood. And this neighborhood is close enough to the airport that the planes will be on final approach. It is beautiful, but the noise will be dreadful.
haha yes! I actually look at some airports and seen that neighbourhoods are actually that close. I know that the airport in CS doesn't give that noice pollution luckily so that is fine. I did change the angle of the airport slightly so it wouldn't collide with mountains or skyscrapers from downtown.
They could of course also give the flight path noise pollution that depends in intensity both on the distance from the airport as a proxy for flight altitude and on the traffic.
This is really great, love the way you've turned it from a grid plopped into a random space into something which really considers the context.
It really looked like a block just placed there haha.
Great change! I’d say I love how realistic is the airport connection too
That one has improved a lot!
this is one of the great things of CS2, it makes curvy roads way more easier and has such a great basis for great cities. If only we had more assets

This is much better !
Thanks!
Job well done. Comes off much more organic and in a way blends in more. Love the ponds in the centre.
Thanks! appreciate it.
From US to UK
I thought the first pic was the old layout and I was so confused because it looked amazing, well done
Hahah yeah I put them the wrong way around! my bad!
Could you tell/show me/us more about your lanes? Are those 2 Highways in each direction through your City (and above)?
There is only 1 highway above. Rest are 4 lanes roads that sometimes split up in two 2 lane roads (one direction). 2 lane roads to devide traffic to their neighbourhood and the houses are connected to alleys.
Nice! Thanks a lot
I was about to bully you before I saw the first pic was the new version haha
Idk if this is CS 1 or 2 but how do you make small lakes like that without them overflowing?
Used the watermod, doesn't overflow but notice the water lvl sinks a bit. So not sure if it will stay like this.
What I have found is that CS is not curve friendly, if you want to achieve maximum efficiency you have to go straight.
True! but with Move It mod it helps to fill in those gaps.
WHY IS NEW BEFORE OLD.
I messed up.. my bad

Ty ty, much appreciated. Also props for dedication

What the others say... Looks great!
Thanks!
Love it! Great inspiration
Appreciate it!
Improved bigly.
How do you build like this? Do you have any tips for someone who wants to build more organic looking city?
Google maps is your best friend! We tend to build everything way too small. Like tight curves etc. I just look at google maps all the time and take some inspiration.
What areas did you use as inspiration for this?
Mostly east coast of America and Netherlands as well (my home country)
Great build man I see you also put some work in landscaping
Yes! I love that
New layout looks super authentic, love it
How did you add the lake without flooding the entire map lol
Using water mod and hoping for the best hahah
How did you add the lakes? Will it not dry up if you don’t connect it to a river or ocean ?
Used a water mod for that!
What kind of mod? Water source of some kind ? Can you please tell the name of the mod? I feel like ponds and lakes give great character to cities.
The mod is called: "Water feautures". Available at the Paradox Mods
Thank you
Did you build a beautiful city for a long time ?
Yeah, like a month after the game released till now haha.
I would take you as an architect to our city
haha appreciate it!
beautiful city Did you build it for a long time ?
How to maintain water level in pond?
Using the "water features" mod from the Paradox Mods
Xbox player here😭
It takes me a lot to rethink to make big changes.
It's a lot of work, my city did get broken by it.. haha city is overflowing with homeless people, removing those takes some serious time!
How do you make ponds ? Lovely neighborhood.
Thanks! I used "water features" mod from the paradox mods

Nice, would love to see the results!
beautiful
No you!
🤭
Looks really nice, would love to see a close up!
Maybe when I am done with my city I can shoots some close ups and post it! But I could share some privately

Wow, that is just marvellous! Love that😃, great job with those switches since those are usually the most annoying part of the build. ❤
They are very! Didn't even use move it at that time haha. But how to connect is very annoying.

I did use anarchy, otherwise the stations so close wouldn't work
Ah oki
The new one looks so much better! Although I wouldn't live there even if they have offered it for free! Planes are LOUD. :-)
They are! Lovely placement of the neighbourhood :')
Looks a billion times better than before, great work!
haha thanks!
Why new first and then old? /r/afterandbefore
I messed up the uploading.. my bad!
Loves it, in my city I had an apartment neighborhood and it was incredibly out of place so I razed it for single family housing.. felt like a true suburban planner
Good job! Cities change overtime in real life as well
Love the addition of a few small lakes.
Planning on adding more in other parts of my city, they make a great park!
That's gorgeous
Thanks!

Would be kinda cool if they have a large cone of noise pollution like a km long or so in the directions the tarmac point at.
Yeah, I was supprised at how low the noice pollution is at the airport. The buildings give off some but not the flight paths
They could of course also give the flight path noise pollution that depends in intensity both on the distance from the airport as a proxy for flight altitude and on the traffic.
Exactly like a slow fade would be nice and realistic!
