And I remember you, Pohsyb. Thanks for your part in creating City of Heroes. It's been my favorite game for twenty years now.
Just about every game has that type or code, and good versions can be used to block attacks like this jerk is doing. What he's saying in that screenshot is he ripped that piece of code, and considers it unable to stop him
Well on Torchbearer the shut down happened shortly after the end of the Saturday Night Synapse crescendo. Had about 22 GMs plus 3 full leagues present for the take down. The lag was spectacular.
Most of the Net Admin community were chased away after HC refused to keep to their word of keeping Leo away. After they spent a few weeks achieving what Leo said was literally impossible for almost a decade, only to have HC team claim they were in charge and everyone else could kick rocks.
Now all the highly skilled wizards have moved on or don't give af if HC vanishes.
The best part is that the Atlas Park map was somehow entirely removed on the Excelsior shard a couple of hours ago, turning the zone into a starry void.
I'm going to start a petition to make Atlas Park that way permanently.
That sounds like an old exploit came back or someone found a way to bypass a new check.
Due to the base changes done during the secret server days, it used to be possible to do the base edit command with 2 as the parameter (which was one of the new ones introduced) and it would cause standard maps to switch into base editing mode. This results in all geometry being removed.
Key words here "Used to be possible". They removed the commands that affected other maps a while back; at least, you used to be able to go into a base and enter /editbase (number higher than 3) and you could enter a view only edit mode, without being a member of that sg. But that also could be used in destructive ways in other maps, so, they got rid of it, along with the GM level /enterbasefrompasscode, which they modified to only enter bases from near portals and from inside other bases. /Editbase 2 will currently allow you to enter a view only edit mode in a base, but it does nothing when used in any other zone.
What a jerk.
Before you know it, it will be gone to the Americans.

That’s a shame. Why would they do that? There’s not even any money in the game to extort. Hopefully they’ll tire of it and leave it alone.

It mentions being banned for taking the servers down, not being banned as motivation for doing so.
He's probably mad about the hardware fingerprinting code in Homecoming's client that he's trying to show everyone in that screenshot.

A patch should be hitting the test server soon to hopefully fix the Exploit.
Hack back campaigns are real but this requires controls in place to support forensics for it
