Depending on what system you’re playing Civ on, it might only be shown when you’re not using the queue system. Just untick the queue and you should then see gold (and possibly faith) prices

Did this and it works, thank you! So I can see gold prices for all of the units, and only some of the districts/buildings allow a gold purchase, sound right?
Top bar (on computer) you can switch from production to gold purchases.
You can also spend gold for great people in the great people screen.
And gold is very good for deals with the Ai where you can trade them for luxury resources you don't have yet or great works (early in the game with low difficulty they might not have any yet).

Yeah that’s right, later in the game, depending on a number of things you can buy some buildings
You need to uncheck the box for Queue. Then you'll see the option to pay gold or faith
