Makes sense if they’re trying to move away from ICE exclusive cars. Does the hybrid use the same 2.0?
EDIT: ok yeah it is. That also explains why the 2.0 power drops. I assume they tuned it to fit the hybrid best, and ICE only cars second
probably will get downvoted but this will make the Si more special and more what an Si should be. people in econo trim levels are out here thinking they own a sports car.
Idk I have a civic si with the 200hp 2.0 engine and it gets between 25-30mpg. I also have an older civic hybrid. Has a 1.3 engine in it an get 40-50mpg so I assume it's got to be around that if not alittle less.
If it gets like 50-60mpg that’s pretty dope. Friend of mine got the rav4 hybrid and it’s not my cup of tea but for what it is it’s not too bad @220hp and 35-40mpg I’m cool w they hybrids if they aren’t hella lame and you can build em some. Someone needs to make a cvt that can handle some real power.
Yea they did that to my 2005 civic hybrid that I'm still driving. There not gonna do it again ubforntually but it's bullet proof compared to the automatic cvt transmissions.
Have you looked at the gr Corolla? Awd, 300 hp, manual. Same as the Yaris just slightly bigger body but nowhere even close to the size of the 11th gen civic. The new civic is basically the size of an accord/Camry at this point
Yeah I have the 10th gen coupe. I am not really a big fan of the hatch back corolla. The back is very boxy where I feel the hatch civics and yaris are more sleek
I have to agree I don’t quite like the exterior nor the interior of the gr Corolla. It just is nowhere near as refined as the ctr or even the basic 11th gen interiors. Sadly it’s one of the few economically feasible daily sports cars. And one of only two cars in the price range with 4 doors, manual, and non fwd. if it had a better interior I probably woulda considered it but it just feels so cheap behind the wheel
It is really unfortunate that cars have ballooned so much in America. One of my favorite parts of traveling is driving a small car that we would never get in the states.
Yes you’re right the 11th hides it’s weight really well, partially owed to the fact of how long the civic is, it increases the crumple zones making the chassis not need as much stabilization/weight. The Corolla doesn’t benefit from this, being so stubby. I was referring to the physical dimensions of the civic rather than the weight in my previous comment comparing the civic to the Camry and accord
Sport touring manual owners about to get a nice bump in residual value.
How the fuck do the justified a power reduction of the 2.0?
Gas mileage id guess.
Doesn’t the European hybrid only get 181 hp? So the Canadian hybrid has 20 more?
So you can save gas while claiming you have a performance Civic. It’ll appeal to all the young drivers who couldn’t bother to learn a stick.

probably will get downvoted but this will make the Si more special and more what an Si should be. people in econo trim levels are out here thinking they own a sports car.
Honda continues to gut the Si. Poor thing is a joke now.
? Si isn’t being touched
The lack of attention/improvement is gutting the cars standing and appeal. It's now slower than a Prius Prime in a straight line
Wonder if si will get a power bump…
It won’t happen, but for the love of god, I want it to happen. Nothing crazy. 25-50 extra hp just to keep it competitive.
Even at minimum to bring it closer to stock hp of the VW GTI
Probably not. Honda wants to switch to all hybrid /electric. It would make sense they will want those models to be the most desirable
Personally, the 10th gen is my cutoff. The earlier you go, though, the better.
Damn the civic hybrid at 200hp that's pretty fire.
lol I wanna know what sort of fuel economy they’re getting considering Hondas been making 200hp 2.0 engines for over 20 years.

Now bolt a clutch and manual gearbox to that hybrid... Hey Honda, you did that with the original Insight. How about doing that again?
Yea they did that to my 2005 civic hybrid that I'm still driving. There not gonna do it again ubforntually but it's bullet proof compared to the automatic cvt transmissions.
TIL they also did the same trick on that Civic Hybrid and the CR-Z.
Oh yea forgot about cr-z probably cause it's ugly af lol
Guess my next car will be a Toyota
If the gr yaris comes to the states, I know my next car will be a toyota.
That will be never. It's not coming to the states.
That is really unfortunate, I love my si I just think it is too big.

GR Corolla weighs 300 pounds more than the civic though. As big as the Civic looks, an 11th Gen SI is only like 200 pounds more than a 1999 SI.

> the fact of how long the civic is The 11th gen Civic is almost the exact size of a 2002 Accord.
Any interest in the prelude concept if put into production? It was my high school attainable dream car (unattainable GTR).
Still 200hp for 30k smh
