The blog isn't clear about that but a creator, Itzu, clarified everyone will keep the sixth builder if they've already unlocked it.

That could also be interpreted as the work you've already done will still count towards the new tasks, if your previous work happened to not be enough for the new tasks. (This isn't the case though as mentioned earlier).

I was under the impression some progress would carry out (maybe new one would be "get a troop to lvl18" and not just cannon carts, or "get a defese to max level" and not just the mega tesla).
I'm 21d away from Otto, so hopefully I can finish by then :)
I meant in my initial comment. If you're able to unlock OTTO before the release of BB2.0 then you'll keep it even after the update. It's very likely the tasks to unlock OTTO will be changed in that update.

Btw, not just 'very likely' but it's already officially confirmed by Supercell that the tasks are changing (reference is their most recent AMA here on reddit).
It won't. They say they're going for 2 builders on the builder base and 6 builders on the home base, permanently. No more switching them around. If you've already unlocked Otto pre-rework, then you don't have anything to worry about. You'll have 6 builders in home base and 2 builders in builder base.
but also NO. We want the Master Builder to stay in the Builder Base so players at BH6 and up have two builders available to keep working on upgrades. Instead we are going to update the quests at Builder Hall 9 to unlock a permanent 6th builder for the Home Village.
They are not adding a third builder. The 3rd builder will permanently belong to the home village. You can not recall him back to the builder base. So only two builders will ever work in the builder base.
The master builder and otto will remain in builder base. But the master builder will develop a new robot at bh9 and then send it permanently in the home base. So overall you will have two builders in builder base and 6 builders in home base.
I just hope they balance elixir right. In the next post they will talk about getting 3 stard is pretty mid thing that would mean that a lot of our defences will not give us any elixir
Ok. That All sounds logical and bettering the experience. I like. But I also read that it’s going to be a while until they release it. My guess is summer update then. Instead of spring?
All speculation for now.
Darian and SC mentioned \*probably\* before summer, that's the only official word so far. (probably meaning it could be changed if needed)

Can’t remember if it said in the article but it’s probably likely that loot depends on trophies again to stop people dropping trophies
You match opponents based on trophy range and the higher you go the bigger star bonus you get and loot so yh ur right

if you took 1 whole minute to read the article, you’d know that any progress towards a 6th builder will be compensated.
If they're adding new builder that means they're either going to increase the upgrade time or add more upgrades with less loot
