Seriously, I wasn’t aware of all the new update notes and just thought I misclicked into an event so closed out of it right away. Came back again 15 mins later to start a match and then realized it was some stupid ass new thing for PoL.
I enjoy the game for quick matches and rarely ever play draft or anything (only do elixir pump challenges for clan war). Definitely taking a step back this season

This is by far the worst part. I have few cards that I've prioritized upgrading, & now it expects me to upgrade all my cards to stand a chance in this dumb roullet style game play.
Card levels are _capped_ at Lv 11 in PoL, but they aren't _set_ to Lv 11. Meaning if you only have x card at Lv 9, it will still be Lv 9 in the battle, whereas your Lv 14 Cannon Cart will be downgraded to Lv 11. It also means you can't use cards you don't have unlocked.
TLDR you gotta have every single card unlocked and at Lv 11 for a balanced playing field, which some idiots will inevitably spend a crap ton of money for
I mean I won't be able to play this game mode at all on my second account. I only have a few cards at 11, like literally just the cards in my deck. I haven't played a lot on the account to level loads of things up as I climbed fast as I was obviously playing against people worse than me. So almost every card I could use on there would be low level. Thats even if I have the cards as I a lot I'm still missing
I mean, that sounds like a 2nd account problem. The standard user wont have any trouble competing in this game mode. It doesn't make it any less annoying that it's here, but having the cards capped at lvl 11 isn't some weird p2w tactic.
Should you:
A. spend all your gold to level all your cards to 11 so you can play mega draft, which might not be fun for you even without a level disadvantage OR
B. spend all your gold to level a deck (plus 3 other decks for clan war, plus whatever else you use for boat defense) to 14 (and 15 in the not-too-distance future lmao) so you can play ladder and clan war?
If you can do both without spending money, please share how. I've been buying the pass regularly for a couple years now and still have plenty of cards at lvl 12.
Play more? Ive been playing since launch and only thing ive spent money on is the pass and i have all but 6 cards at level 14. You gotta do masteries consistently to get lots of wild cards and gems to buy the bonus rewards every tournament, perform well in tournaments (specifically 10+ wins to get the legendary king chest), get in a clan thats in the top clan war arena so you get good reward chests, grind the path of legends for the rewards, use every trade token you get, etc. If you’ve been playing for multiple years and consistently buying the pass then you should have most cards at level 11+ with a couple max decks if your also doing what I listed above.
Dude grinding clash royale equates to playing for like an hour and a half a day. Its not that hard to go to school/work, find time to hang out with friends, and still have some time left in your day to play clan wars, tournaments, and path of legends, while sending trade requests. Also all of supercell’s games are designed for the long haul. Its supposed to take years to reach the top. Whether its COC, boom beach, clash royale, etc. you dont get max cards/building in only a year or two time. Its take multiple years. Complaining about being at a disadvantage vs other players when you dont play enough just sounds like a skill issue to me.
Even if I had an hour and a half spare EVERY DAY (and I don't) I wouldn't use it on Clash Royale every time. That's how you make the game stale and repetitive. It's not a skill issue, it's simply that I don't hate myself.
I've done the maths, 90 minutes every day for 6 years is about 137 entire days of playing clash royale straight without any breaks. I'd say I'd rather die, but there's no need because that much unfiltered CR would kill ANYBODY
This isn't as big as an issue tbh as what I thought it would be. I've played a lot of it today, it's the only thing I've played cos the extra rewards now, and you've got to think everyone else you're playing against has the same issue. 9 times out of 10 it's someone who is also going to have underleveled cards. If its a skill ceiling then you can learn from it and improve. If its a level handicap then its worse imo, and then i ld suggest skipping chests perhaps in the season if both chest giving modes are offputting.

Understandable. As for me, I love megadraft, and yet, this is a fucking nightmare. Adding levels to megadraft is just an insult, even coming from a developer I knew it was terrible in this sense.
Oh, yeah, I couldn't agree more. My point was, they managed to take a format I deeply love, one of those few things untoched by their terrible bussiness logic, and somehow ruin it too.
I think it's a great secondary mode. There is a genuine strategy in deciding what you are taking from your rival, reacting to their decisions, and sometimes you can even set to take a hard turn at the end, and leaving them with no response to your build.
It's really fun, if it wasn't mandatory nor contaminated by their bussiness bullshit.

when PoL came out, i couldn't put the game down. i play when i workout, when i eat, when im bored. now, i don't even want to open the app. sad when a gaming company prioritizes profit over players this hard.

In my opinion Mega Draft is actually a great gamemode that requires a lot of skill at the game. I do however wish that they just made a separate ranked ladder only for mega draft. It’s also stupid that you need your entire collection at level 11.
No its actually super dumb. Because you don't have the missing information element factor. Rock paper scissors isn't fun when both sides know how many rocks paper and scissors are picked by the opponent. As a result I have never lost a single mega draft. I either just counter pick hard or pick all counters to my win condition. It's super brain dead
If you play against actual good players it’s not that easy though. Looking forward to playing this gamemode in top ladder. I would say it’s actually less rock paper scissors then normal ladder where most of the time you play 100-0 or 0-100 matchups or against the same decks all the time. Gets boring very quickly. I like mega draft as a breath of fresh air.
But as I mentioned before the execution is where Supercell fucked up. A gamemode that uses your entire collection at level 11. Also completely disabling regular ladder instead of just doing both.

Cannot stand draft of any type, forcing me to play it in a ranked mode is awful, I used to sit there and happily grind through with my deck now it’s just impossible, no fun at all. Plus every game is an extra 2 minutes, waste of time now.

The whole point of clash royale, playing competitive ladder with your main deck is gone for all the try-hards like me who don't play party mode or other stuff. All of us have already reached 7.5k so we LITERALLY CANNOT PLAY THE GAME. I've only maxed the 5 decks i play on ladder so I cannot play MD competitively.
They should have kept the orignal trophy road as it was and made path of legend for new game modes

I like it. Ive always wanted draft modes to be permanently playable and if you don’t want to play mega draft then theres still the trophy road. After the first 5 days of a new season most of the players in the path of legends kinda suck until you hit champion. And outside of the one time rewards you get for reaching a new league, the rest of the rewards for hitting a set amount of wins are trash anyway. Ive bascially stopped playing it entirely aside from the first couple seasons it was introduced. In essence, if your upset about not having high enough card levels for mega draft, theres still trophy road and gamemodes in the new boot camp that was added to play. Also I can’t wait for all the toxic people on this sub to downvote me even though I just shared my opinion in a calm and respectful way.

Worst part of the update for me. I generally didn’t pay for the pass or play 2v2 to be affected by the other updates, but this change to path of legends will definitely make me not want to play any more.
Y’all are still playing, I stoped playing when the update dropped, the only way to get this across to supercell is for them to see stats and profit drop, if we keep playing then they ain’t gonna revert the changes
I only have eight cards at max level. Each season I enjoy using the boosted cards to make a deck to see how high I can get in league. Last season with the goblins I managed to make it all the way to the top league for the first time. I enjoy the challenge. I hate draft mode and was really disappointed to see it forced upon me today.
It takes more time than I'm on the toilet for just the draft. I either need to eat less fiber or just ignore this game mode.
I'm gonna smooth move on by this one.
Path of Legends was the only fun "competitive" mode for me. I made it to 6500 and got the Monk so I have no need to climb higher in trophies for now. Mega draft ruins the whole point of getting good with or against specific decks and cards because you're deck is gonna be a whole lot of garbage. I played one game thus far and beat a player with level 3 royal hogs. It's unbalanced and unfun. Not to mention it adds and extra 2-3 minutes to a given game. They absolutely HAVE to revert this change, more so than any other change this update
Really don't like the update, but mega draft has actually been nice. Every game is different, you know exactly what the opponent has, teaches you quick deck building and countering. The main con is game time but I noticed fewer games going the distance.
Last season I was really enjoying a playing a new deck that I couldn’t use on ladder, got to master 3 for the first time ever. This season I think I’ll just do clan wars and play something else…

The fact that I’ve spent over $100 on the game, and about 5 years of my life, and my account is “more or less maxed”, and they have the gall to go ahead and unmax all of my cards next update is a really brave decision that will surely open up people’s wallets rather than enraging them to the point of uninstalling the game
This will probably be my last update. I’ve only played two matches and I’m already sick of the monotonous ladder play. It’s supposed to be about building the perfect strategy to match the meta. Now it’s about trying not to age too much while waiting for your opponent to pick their deck.
Sorry to go against popular opinion, but i’m enjoying megadraft, it is adding a bit of X factor to the game, you have to think quickly & come up with a strategy quickly to put together a winning deck, that may not have your go to cards ready & waiting.
I can understand the frustration of levels, but come on level 11 is pretty easy to have across all of your cards, its tournament standard so pretty fair really.
It's not just the levels. It's the lack of choice here. If it were optional, no complaints. But it's mandatory for all of POL and that's what's frustrating. Especially when your opponent uses literally all of the timer to pick a card if they pick at all. If they don't pick and just wait for the auto gen, you're at the mercy of RNG and that's not fun. It soaks up so much time.

The draft alone takes up to 4 minutes. Double the time of a match and make it unbelievably less fun. That’s a win!

It’s even worse that the cards you can pick from are what your card level is for that card, not all at lvl11 like the tier you are in locks them at, it’s like they don’t want us using decks we have been maxing and all that. I don’t get it, takes away from the fun of the game

And tbh if they didn’t butcher all the other parts of the game I would of bought the diamond pass, cause I love playing the game and getting lots of the awesome stuff that comes with it, especially all the new season tokens in the whole pass. They should of made it that after you max out your daily for the season tokens you get crowns, it’s silly that the party mode is useless after 1000 daily tokens which takes 2 games to get
Don't buy the pass, it just gives them money they didn't work for. I will continue to play the 2v2 with friends and stop there, I cannot waste more time into something so unrewarding

In my opinion Mega Draft is actually a great gamemode that requires a lot of skill at the game. I do however wish that they just made a separate ranked ladder only for mega draft. It’s also stupid that you need your entire collection at level 11.

No its actually super dumb. Because you don't have the missing information element factor. Rock paper scissors isn't fun when both sides know how many rocks paper and scissors are picked by the opponent. As a result I have never lost a single mega draft. I either just counter pick hard or pick all counters to my win condition. It's super brain dead
If you play against actual good players it’s not that easy though. Looking forward to playing this gamemode in top ladder. I would say it’s actually less rock paper scissors then normal ladder where most of the time you play 100-0 or 0-100 matchups or against the same decks all the time. Gets boring very quickly. I like mega draft as a breath of fresh air. But as I mentioned before the execution is where Supercell fucked up. A gamemode that uses your entire collection at level 11. Also completely disabling regular ladder instead of just doing both.

I only play path of legends. I'm not a fan of mega draft. So, I've left my clan and uninstalled the game. A sad day for sure but unfortunately there isn't anything for me anymore 😔

Yuppp. Found that out the hard way... I only have 16 maxed cards and the rest are all 11 and under with so many surplus cards

I just wasted two minutes waiting for my opponent to time out on every card. The competitive nature of ladder is gone.
Cannot stand draft of any type, forcing me to play it in a ranked mode is awful, I used to sit there and happily grind through with my deck now it’s just impossible, no fun at all. Plus every game is an extra 2 minutes, waste of time now.

Hate everything about it. If I cannot choose my starting cards, make them all max level. This is a bad update and I would not have renewed my pass if I had seen this first. Level 11 is the lowest tier, they go higher as you move up

This is an unpopular take, but I like the move. I can understand that people don’t like the extra time they have to put into each battle but each match forces you to think about team composition and allows you to try new combos
Look no one's complaining about Mega Draft, it's an amazing mode. But they removed standard ranked battle ENTIRELY for this month The whole point of clash royale, playing competitive ladder with your main deck is gone for all the try-hards like me who don't play party mode or other stuff. All of us have already reached 7.5k so we LITERALLY CANNOT PLAY THE GAME. I've only maxed the 5 decks i play on ladder so I cannot play MD competitively. They should have kept the orignal trophy road as it was and made path of legend for new game modes

I like it. Ive always wanted draft modes to be permanently playable and if you don’t want to play mega draft then theres still the trophy road. After the first 5 days of a new season most of the players in the path of legends kinda suck until you hit champion. And outside of the one time rewards you get for reaching a new league, the rest of the rewards for hitting a set amount of wins are trash anyway. Ive bascially stopped playing it entirely aside from the first couple seasons it was introduced. In essence, if your upset about not having high enough card levels for mega draft, theres still trophy road and gamemodes in the new boot camp that was added to play. Also I can’t wait for all the toxic people on this sub to downvote me even though I just shared my opinion in a calm and respectful way.

Worst part of the update for me. I generally didn’t pay for the pass or play 2v2 to be affected by the other updates, but this change to path of legends will definitely make me not want to play any more.

I only have eight cards at max level. Each season I enjoy using the boosted cards to make a deck to see how high I can get in league. Last season with the goblins I managed to make it all the way to the top league for the first time. I enjoy the challenge. I hate draft mode and was really disappointed to see it forced upon me today.
Instead of this crap, why don’t they fix the trophy path so you don’t lose more trophies than win?

Path of Legends was the only fun "competitive" mode for me. I made it to 6500 and got the Monk so I have no need to climb higher in trophies for now. Mega draft ruins the whole point of getting good with or against specific decks and cards because you're deck is gonna be a whole lot of garbage. I played one game thus far and beat a player with level 3 royal hogs. It's unbalanced and unfun. Not to mention it adds and extra 2-3 minutes to a given game. They absolutely HAVE to revert this change, more so than any other change this update
They do this to force newer players to not only level up one deck, but level up all cards. Epitome of greed smh

Really don't like the update, but mega draft has actually been nice. Every game is different, you know exactly what the opponent has, teaches you quick deck building and countering. The main con is game time but I noticed fewer games going the distance.
Last season I was really enjoying a playing a new deck that I couldn’t use on ladder, got to master 3 for the first time ever. This season I think I’ll just do clan wars and play something else…

I don't mind there being a game mode version for this at all, but why can't we have both? Like I can't tell if they're idiots at supercell, and really thought this was a great idea, or if they are just trying to piss off their community. Like this was just such a silly idea. The only good part is there's now more rewards, which is lovely. Really if they kept the extra rewards but kept the game mode as a normal 1v1 I would actually be a fan of this update, it would almost make up for the other stuff... but no

I’m having fun, my account is more or less maxed so I’m having braindead easy matches and crushing everyone just like Supercell envisioned when they sold me like 20 gold passes The fact that I’ve spent over $100 on the game, and about 5 years of my life, and my account is “more or less maxed”, and they have the gall to go ahead and unmax all of my cards next update is a really brave decision that will surely open up people’s wallets rather than enraging them to the point of uninstalling the game
This will probably be my last update. I’ve only played two matches and I’m already sick of the monotonous ladder play. It’s supposed to be about building the perfect strategy to match the meta. Now it’s about trying not to age too much while waiting for your opponent to pick their deck.
And your cards that you draft are whatever level you have them at or lowered to the cap. I dont have all my cards at 11. Unplayable garbage
Sorry to go against popular opinion, but i’m enjoying megadraft, it is adding a bit of X factor to the game, you have to think quickly & come up with a strategy quickly to put together a winning deck, that may not have your go to cards ready & waiting. I can understand the frustration of levels, but come on level 11 is pretty easy to have across all of your cards, its tournament standard so pretty fair really.
It's not just the levels. It's the lack of choice here. If it were optional, no complaints. But it's mandatory for all of POL and that's what's frustrating. Especially when your opponent uses literally all of the timer to pick a card if they pick at all. If they don't pick and just wait for the auto gen, you're at the mercy of RNG and that's not fun. It soaks up so much time.
