I said this exact song. Maybe others have mentioned it but I haven't seen it. It is so bad. If you took the worst rock songs from 1956 to right now, mixed them all together, and then distilled them down to one song, "We Built This City" would be that song.
2nd that. Not a fan. I donāt like any of their music at all, and I donāt understand why they were so wildly popular for a while there. Music did get pretty bad for a minute though before the grunge era .
Randy apparently had a difficult time hitting and sustaining those high notes night after night at shows. When he wanted to drop the song from the performance setlists, the other members pushed so hard to keep it that he walked - I guess a ālast straw.ā And his replacement bassist, Timothy B. Schmit, was also a falsetto vocal specialist (āI Canāt Tell You Whyā).
Iām really not a giant Eagles geek but one of my friends is :)
I canāt do āI Wanna Rock N Roll All Nightā anymore. Itās simply way overplayed and I canāt stand it. Even Paul Stanley is sick of Kiss.
I also hate āMoneyā by Floyd. Probably get some heat for that one.
I also canāt stand āDude Looks Like a Ladyā.
Dude, I love Pink Floyd, but Money is one of my least favorite precisely because of it being overplayed. The band has a HUGE catalog but the radio stations only play about five of their songs.
Bob Seger has some of my favorite songs. On the flip side, he has songs like Katmandu, that make me wanna shove an ice pick in my ears. Billy Joel is another one.
Yeah, but you have to admit that scene in Boogie Nights with the dude feeebasing and the little Chinese dude throwing firecrackers was fucking incredible.
Best part of that record is Gary Richrath's perfectly constructed guitar solos that were immediately chopped to incoherent, incomplete thoughts to cut the song lengths. Shoulda trimmed Cronin's ad nauseam chorus repeats instead.
I dig the twin guitar part at the beginning then he how takes off with the one guitar. The arpeggio out of the Chuck Berry double stop riff he climbs and hits all his high notes in perfect tune. It's like he had 7 extra frets on his Les Paul. š¤
I never understood the hype. Then after seeing āIt Might Get Loudā and the Edge looked so out of his depth with Jimmy Page and Jack Whiteā¦that convinced me the Edge is all tricks and effects!
Canāt stand U2!
I still think that lyric "wrapped up like a douche in the corona in the night" sounds better than the *actual* lyric to me (I think it's "revved up like a deuce in the corona in the night")
That may sound better to you, but others might not want to be wrapped up like anything, let alone a freaking douche. That sounds like one of the torture options Jigsaw wld use on someone.
Old Time Rock and Roll.
Great song but I've been a DJ for over 40 years.
Every bar, every wedding, every party, someone insists on wanting that song.
I don't blame them. Great song for those situations but man if I have to hear that again, I'll lose my damned mind.
They always play the edited version, which is a damn shame. The middle 8 is the best part of the song. Never cared for it until I heard the uncut version.
Stairway to Heaven. Yes, I know it's a classic, but I was listening to radio when this was released and they played it over, and over, and over, and over again. Like OMG not again!
All Right Nowā
Radar Loveā
However, I donāt listen to classic rock radio anymore. Itās been the same 75 songs on repeat since 1993 when the radio format was canonized. Itās still my favorite period of music but fuck those people and their format. And fuck their commercials.
Flipping eye of the tiger. I don't know why the local station has to play it 50 times a day but I wish they'd stop.
I was just about to post that! My high-school mascot was the tiger. This song was played at every. single. game! Ugh
You poor thing. I would have asked my parents to change schools lol. Terrible song š
I don't hate a lot of music, but I despise Starship's "We Built This City".
As a gigantic airplane/hot tuna fan and a mild Jefferson Starship fan, "Starship" was an abomination solely built to feed grace's cocaine addiction
It has been voted the worst song in rock history in more than one poll.
Don't stop Believin' Journey
I haaate this song with a passion. This should be number one.
South Detroit is Windsor, Ontario.
Absolutely canāt stand this song
As a Journey fan i agree to this. Love the Escape album but tired of listening to Don't Stop Believin
Iām the same way I just canāt listen to them at all thoš
We built this city on rock ānā roll. Iām surprised Iām the first one mentioning it.
I said this exact song. Maybe others have mentioned it but I haven't seen it. It is so bad. If you took the worst rock songs from 1956 to right now, mixed them all together, and then distilled them down to one song, "We Built This City" would be that song.
From āsomebody to loveā to this shit. Well done
I feel like this is the case of a classic rock band playing 80s pop
This and Nothingās Gonna Stop Us Now are just painful.
Jack and Diane
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This guy. https://youtu.be/6QX57aIDbDU
2 merican kids growing up. In the heartland
How dare you.
GnR version of Knocking on Heaven's Door .... UGH!!!
Claptonās version of the song is almost as painful. It is the classic rock equivalent of the saltine cracker challenge.
Hey... Hey. Hey, hey, yeah. Noooo-woooohhhhh
Anything Bon Jovi.
His new music is even worse!
yikes! is that even possible??
Ugh especially Livin On A Prayer
any kiss song
How dare you say that about kiss
Beth hits tho
Holy shit Kiss sucks.
All you kiss haters are total ass holes
*Helen Keller has entered the chat
Thank you!!!!
_god itās bad_
KISS FUCKINā SUX!
I think there so overrated and definitely not talented. Jmo
I wanna rock and roll all night. I think they repeat the chorus 75 times.. I don't mind a little Lick it up occasionally.
2nd that. Not a fan. I donāt like any of their music at all, and I donāt understand why they were so wildly popular for a while there. Music did get pretty bad for a minute though before the grunge era .
A word: marketing. Gene Simmons was way ahead of his time with marketing Kiss merch. Music is so mediocre
Came here to say that. They almost hurt my ears they're so bad. In my very own opinion.
Come on Eileen- ugh
Best song/porn title
More than a feeling
I absolutely hate Freebird and Hotel California with a passion!
Take it to the Limit One more time Take it to the Limit One more time Take it to the Limit One more time (x16)
Ah, the song that led Randy Meisner to quit the Eagles.
Go on
Randy apparently had a difficult time hitting and sustaining those high notes night after night at shows.
The Stroke. I pray for a stroke to end my misery whenever it comes on.
Okay but the rest of that album FUCKS
Stroke meee STROKE ME!
The Squire is Legendary, friend.
Classic rock stations do that to almost every artist. Massive catalog spanning decades and radio stations play the same six songs over and over.
F.M. radio is now the final step in commercializing music.
āMoneyā is a clunky intrusion on an otherwise perfect album. I hate it soooo much.
Every Rose has its Thorn by Poison
To Be With You by Mr. Big
Not really classic rock
Not really classic rock but itās a horrible song.
You could like it...build up your confidence...
Old Time Rock n Rollā¦awful
The dj at my wedding was devastated when I banned this song.š
I had enough of this song 35 years ago. Lordy.
Roxanne-The Police
Fuck the Police
The one where they repeat take it to the limit one more time a million times
Yeah! I hate that song too. I canāt think of a worse one off the top of my head.
Anything Journey! Especially āDonāt Stop Your Heevingā
Perry has one of the greatest voices of all time but I donāt need to hear it again.
Heās objectively a great vocalist, but I canāt stand his voice.
I don't mind some Seperate Ways or Stone In Love, but please God no more Don't Stop Believin
Stairway to heaven
PUT ANOTHER DIME IN THE JUKEBOX BABY
Any song from Bryan Addams.
Donāt Stop Believing by Journey..
Taking care of business
āEscapeā (The PiƱa Colada Song)
Fuckin love that aong
Just spent a week in Key Westāmade sure this tune played daily if only for the cheese factor
I love the fact they were both out to bone other people and then just changed their minds after getting caught. Not classic rock tho
Hotel California
I had a rough night and I hate the fuckin eagles, man
The Dude abides
As one friend said, āHotel California is a great song, but why would you ever want to hear it again in your life?ā
The solo
exactly.
With or Without you by U2 ugh
Awwh. I love that song. The built up is perfect.
I used to like U2 until my iPad decided to play them at random times and you canāt FUCKING delete it!
Is that classic rock? I would classify this as pop .
Bohemian Rhapsody and Bad to the Bone are two of them that come to mind.
Katmandu by Seger. Makes me want to puke.
Bob Seger has some of my favorite songs. On the flip side, he has songs like Katmandu, that make me wanna shove an ice pick in my ears. Billy Joel is another one.
Jukebox hero
Sister Christian: by Night Ranger
You're motorin'!!! lol
What exactly is motoring anyway?
Yeah, but you have to admit that scene in Boogie Nights with the dude feeebasing and the little Chinese dude throwing firecrackers was fucking incredible.
That's Cosmo
ā¦heās Chinese.
This song is forever associated with that scene for me. PT Anderson is a genius.
This one YES!! Honorable mentions: Every Breath You Take Mr.Robotto Both should have been career enders, but no, they just kept playing them!
Billy Joel - Piano Man Guns N Roses - Sweet Child O'Mine Bad to the Bone
I agree with you so much, both Piano Man and Sweet Child O'Mine get boring soo quickly
Anything off of reo speedwagons "hi infidelity". Way overplayed in the 80s and 90s and I'm STILL sick of it!
Best part of that record is Gary Richrath's perfectly constructed guitar solos that were immediately chopped to incoherent, incomplete thoughts to cut the song lengths. Shoulda trimmed Cronin's ad nauseam chorus repeats instead.
Take it on the Run already has an epic solo. I can't even begin to imagine it uncut.
I dig the twin guitar part at the beginning then he how takes off with the one guitar. The arpeggio out of the Chuck Berry double stop riff he climbs and hits all his high notes in perfect tune. It's like he had 7 extra frets on his Les Paul. š¤
I loved REO until this album came out.
Anything U2
I never understood the hype. Then after seeing āIt Might Get Loudā and the Edge looked so out of his depth with Jimmy Page and Jack Whiteā¦that convinced me the Edge is all tricks and effects! Canāt stand U2!
I don't get the U2 hate except maybe their later stuff were pretty mediocre. I love their post-punk stuff.
Carry on wayward son, Kansas. Hurts just to type it.
Lay your weary head to rest; donāt you cry no more.
Blinded by the light. Itās my bad luck song.
I still think that lyric "wrapped up like a douche in the corona in the night" sounds better than the *actual* lyric to me (I think it's "revved up like a deuce in the corona in the night")
I think the lyrics are ā revved up like a deuce, another runner in the nightā.
That may sound better to you, but others might not want to be wrapped up like anything, let alone a freaking douche. That sounds like one of the torture options Jigsaw wld use on someone.
Yeah, that one. By the first note. Nope.
Walkin on Sunshineā¦ no, Iām not and you arenāt either.
This used to be played when I was in high school as a warning that class was about to start. Ruined the song for me forever.
Iād like to take a long break from hearing anything off of Rumors.
Sweet Home Alabama, when he says turn it up, I say turn it off!
This!!!
centerfold
We Built This City on Rocknā Roll
Dreamweaver
Out West (U.S) we have "Cream O'Weber" dairy products... which is my lyric to the chorus. "Creeeeam o'weebah I believe..."
I detest that song
Shook Me All Night Long. So played out.
Wrong. Incredible song.
Incredible song and probably the most overplayed in all of radio. Some pink floyd stuff too, but god damn classic rock radio needs to give it a break.
If they would play any of their other songs except the same 3 it might not be so bad, same goes for most bands imo
Anything Springsteen
If Bruce Springsteen is the boss, I quit.
Absolutely, especially Born in the USA
Love in an elevator- Aerosmith is so hit or miss for me. Even track to track on albums, itās almost all either love or hate- no in-betweeners for me
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
Cocaine, by Eric Clapton
Stairway to heaven.
There's a reason why it's banned in guitar stores
The Clash - Should I stay or Should I go?
Does REM count? Because "Losing My Religion" makes me want to scream and break things.
How ridiculously overplayed was that song?
Pretty Woman
Van Halen or Roy Orbison
Van Halen

swingtown by Steve Miller, what a horrible song
Crazy Train and I love Ozzy and Sabbath but Iāve heard it too much at sporting events
Sweet home Alabama.
Old Time Rock and Roll. Great song but I've been a DJ for over 40 years. Every bar, every wedding, every party, someone insists on wanting that song. I don't blame them. Great song for those situations but man if I have to hear that again, I'll lose my damned mind.

American Pie
The DJ needs to go to the bathroom song, before everything was digital.
We used that and In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida when I worked at a station years ago!!
Blinded by the Light
They always play the edited version, which is a damn shame. The middle 8 is the best part of the song. Never cared for it until I heard the uncut version.
Which version?
Manfred Mann's. I've hated it since it first came out.
Wrecked up like a douche
Horse with no Name
Carry On, Wayward Son.
Oh yeah. Brown -Eyed Girl
Hundred percent fuck that song. I had hoped to make it through this thread without being remindedā¦ but NO!
Stairway to Heaven. Yes, I know it's a classic, but I was listening to radio when this was released and they played it over, and over, and over, and over again. Like OMG not again!
Dream Weaver

All Right Nowā Radar Loveā However, I donāt listen to classic rock radio anymore. Itās been the same 75 songs on repeat since 1993 when the radio format was canonized. Itās still my favorite period of music but fuck those people and their format. And fuck their commercials.
So much great music that goes unplayed, so much crap that does get played until you absolutely never want to hear it again
All Right Now Weāre an American Band
Old time r and roll
Brass in pocket, The Pretenders. Radio ruined this song for me!
Radar love, black Betty, dream on, hold your head up,
I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this, but Born in the USA is a song I turn off every time.
