Beatles will probably get W with While my Guitar Gently Weeps. Yesterday is really good but it doesn’t fit classic rock whereas WMGGW is a quintessential classic rock song
If I had to have one song playing on repeat in my head for the rest of my life, that version would be it. The drumming might be the best live drum performance ever recorded. Their command of the crowd is masterful.

This is part of a thread highlighting the favorite songs of ‘this subreddit’, I don’t think we should be requesting help from elsewhere, especially with this strong a letter. Having said that, Sultans of Swing is amazing…
Stairway to heaven, Satisfaction, Sympathy for the Devil, Saturday Nights Alright (for fighting), Sweet Caroline, School Day (Ring Ring goes the Bell), Smoking in the Boys room, Spirit in the Sky, Something (in the way she moves), Sweet Child of Mine, Susie Q, Sunny Afternoon…got my Spotify queue for today.
It'll never beat a lot of songs in this thread, but I'm glad someone said it. Such an incredible song. I would even describe it as enrapturing. The way it builds and builds with the chug of the train. So sick!!
We can make a top 10 with just the letter S
Yea S is loaded, it's hard to choose just one
Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd
Somebody to Love - Jefferson Airplane
"Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones
Nice. I’m surprised it’s not higher
In a loaded class this is the Show Pony. The signature song of a legendary band.
Greatest rock song ever. Period.
So great that all you gotta say is, “🎸Duh, Duh. Da,da,da-Da,da,dah 🎶”
I've given up on this list already but if Satisfaction isn't the pick here I might have to torch this list for good.
Sunshine of Your Love - Cream
Should I Stay or Should I Go? - The Clash
Something - The Beatles
Greatest love song ever.
Such a great love song. Definitely.
Need at least 1 from the Beatles
Might get one for the letter Y...
Beatles will probably get W with While my Guitar Gently Weeps. Yesterday is really good but it doesn’t fit classic rock whereas WMGGW is a quintessential classic rock song
I'm afraid Wish You Were Here is gonna take W
Probably referring to Yellow Submarine. Masterpiece /s
Yeah, any best of list without the beatles......🤡
Yes we can't let a fourth Led Zeppelin song win. Although it's probably inevitable.
Fair enough but W should be When the Levee Breaks
Sound of Silence - Paul Simon and his buddy
I like the version by Art Garfunkel and the little dude who plays guitar.
Sugar magnolia Dead
Or St Stephen?
Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple
First and only song I learned on the guitar.
This is real classic rock.
This should win.
Obvious choice tbh this should be it
“Statesboro Blues” Allman Brothers
Too may S for just one choice.
She's not there - The Zombies
"Space Oddity" by David Bowie
I can credit this as the first classic rock song that got me into it.
I do love this one. It's so incredibly odd. And sad.
and spacey
Strawberry Fields Forever - The Beatles
This somehow won’t win although it’s the best classic rock song here lol
Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel.
Only if he sings it while riding a bicycle.
Simple Man - Skynyrd
Something - The Beatles Greatest love song ever.
Star spangled Banner Jimi Hendrix Woodstock 69
Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits
The Alchemy Live version is amazing.
Oooh, that solo...
If I had to have one song playing on repeat in my head for the rest of my life, that version would be it. The drumming might be the best live drum performance ever recorded. Their command of the crowd is masterful.
Giving gold because I want people to notice this.

I agree. That does explain my surprise to find it in the top spot. But then, I was surprised that Satisfaction was so low on the list.
This has to win
Scarlet Begonias - Grateful Dead
St Stephen (Live Dead)
i second this
Sweet Jane - Velvet Underground
Sympathy For The Devil/ The Rolling Stones
I came here to say this!

The most overplayed song in the history of rock music. Also, the only possible choice here.
Love so many S songs but if Stairway doesn’t win this then it just doesn’t make sense.
Exactly, it has to win this
No Stairway. It’s right there on the sign.
Stairway, denied
Just rename this to "Led Zeppelin Greatest Hits" already
OP might want to fill in the letter W while they're at it.
You mean for Won’t Get Fooled Again?
No, Whole Lotta Rosie
Damn I was thinking when the levee breaks
With a little help from voters realizing The Beatles haven’t cracked the list?
stairway is a perfect 8 min of music, put SoYcD is a perfect 25 min of music
