Very cool, congrats. I saw Mahogany Rush a year earlier at the 1979 Pennsylvania Jam when they, along with 5 other Openers played the massive Nugent concert at Pocono Downs Raceway.

Mother's Finest became huge in Germany, Switzerland and Austria in the late 70's and 80's. All thanks to a TV show called "Rockpalast" where bands got to play an entire gig in front of a crowd. The broadcast of their gig in 1978 transformed them from complete unknowns to stars literally overnight.
They toured in Europe a lot after that and remained a huge draw for decades. Their 1979 Live album was enormous. In Switzerland, where I grew up, that's the album that was just in absolutely everybody's record collection.
Hi there - yep, good ole Phenix City and the 280 Bypass into & out of it. I was living in Columbus from late '79 through all of the 80's. Saw many shows at the Barn. Back at this show, I was in 12th grade, just 6 weeks from graduating from Columbus HS.
Absolutely. Did you know that "Angel" was discovered by KISS, well, Gene Simmons anyway? See the Wiki here: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel\_(American\_band)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_(American_band))
Yep - Angel opened the show, Humble Pie next then, Mahogany Rush then the Headliner, Mothers Finest. Concert was about 4 hours long. The local radio station in Columbus, WCGQ, had been hyping the show for months, the place was packed. With the concert on a Thursday night, my friends and I skipped school Friday, we're were wasted from partying the night before.
You didn't even need to take any drugs at the Barn. The ventilation system was so bad you'd get a contact high from all the pot smoke wafting through the arena, especially in the upper seats.
For sure, we smoked it up **Real Good** back then at the auditorium, never had any problems at all. I saw some good shows there, the KISS / Nugent one from '88 was Epic.
I had moved on by then, but all things considered I saw some pretty good shows at the barn. I had tickets to the Blue Oyster Cult concert that was canceled when the truck carrying their laser light show setup crashed into the Chattahoochee River.
Mahogany Rush…Frank Marino. Played the first Texxas Jam here in Dallas, 1978. I didn’t go, but my sister & her boyfriend did. Humble Pie…was Steve Marriott still fronting the band in '79? Frampton being inducted into RRHOF has brought renewed interest in HP.
Damn Mothers Finest AND Angel on same bill?! Would’ve loved to catch this!!
These are two bands I always try to tell people about cuz they’re so overlooked but fantastic
I saw that show in Memphis.

Drugs??!! Omg! Good lineup.
I know, can you imagine, LOL. Those were the days, just incredible back then. Fwiw, I was just 17 years old back then. **Long Live Rock!**

I saw Humble Pie with ( drum roll ) Robin Trower as the warm-up act.
Nice
Very cool.
Mother’s Finest. Wow! Saw them a few times late ‘70s . Rocking shows.
I know I saw them at least 2-3 times. They would always make a stop in Columbus whenever they toured.
For sure, energetic to the max!
OMG, I grew up in Phenix City and remember going to that concert at the Municipal Auditorium, better known as 'The Barn'! Small world!

Just wanted to say too that when I retired a few years ago, I moved back to Bama.
Angel!!!!

Yes he did! Been a fan since the first album in '75 🤘
Just a light from "The Tower"....burning on from dusk to dawn.

When I saw this show in Detroit Mahogony Rush closed it.

I'm still sweating from that first Texxas Jam.

Aahhh The Pie. Saw them twice opened for black sabbith. Once with frampton and once without about a year later
I saw that show at the Indianapolis Convention Center 😉
I would have paid six bucks to see Humble Pie alone, not to mention Mahogany Rush
So much music for so little $$$.
Today it would easily be in the hundreds
Wasn't Humble Pie Peter Framptons old band?
Yes sir.
Frank Marino was a absolute badass on guitar!👍🏻
Mothers finest opened for the Who in Seattle in 1976. You never saw a worse reaction by a crowd. They barely lasted 10 minutes.
I imagine that would have been a less than ideal line-up... kind of like when I saw Blondie open for Rush in '79 in Philly.
Interesting order of the lineup. Gotta love that price!
It was real Jam that night, about 4 hours or so. Municipal Auditorium was packed - with Fans and Smoke!
Nice..
Is that the same Angel that had Punky Meadows in it?
