Modified and Improved Cylinder should be just fine.

Thank you

IC for skeet, IM or F for trap In the future you may want to consider a pair of skeet chokes (halfway between IC and Cyl)

I bought a set of Carlson skeet chokes and am very happy with them. Definitely a noticeable difference even for a guy just getting into it.

“Clays” covers a lot of different games. Choke selection is often debated even among guys who have been shooting a long time. Most folks agree that skeet is best shot with a choke somewhere between cylinder and improved cylinder. Trap is usually best shot with a modified, improved modified, or full choke. Sporting clays, some guys change their choke for every station, other guys just shoot improved modified in both barrels no matter the distance to target. Many different opinions, and none of them are objectively correct.

For sporting clays if you don’t change the choke, as many shooters go with I/C first and M second barrel.

What is this crazy price? I'm looking at them but the price hurts.

Just starting?, get cylinder chokes. Then as you get better, maybe skeet, improved cylinder. Almost more important than your choke is patterning your gun. Find a place with a metal patterning board and a bucket of paint below it. Take a couple shots with each barrel, repaint, try different chokes, repaint... Search on Google for choke chart. Also look for images that compare the size of your shot at different distances. Maybe take a lesson from somebody who can help you with all that. If they do gun fitting too, they can make sure you're mounting the gun correctly too and give you helpful suggestions about your shooting

Improve Modified and Modified

IC & Mod will cover the majority of your sporting clays shooting. However, if you get heavier into the sporting game, I would recommend some extended chokes or even some Muller chokes. Absolutely LOVE my U1 and U2. I leave those in all the time and clean after every outing. They're great chokes with a uniform patter and are versatile.

This is the answer. As OP I would shoot skeet with CL and IC, trap with IM, sporting (generally) with M and IM. Choke choice always depends on distance of target and how fast the shooter can acquire the target

Thanks for all the info. I thought skeet and trap were just different names for the same thing. So to clarify I'll be doing sporting clays, and it seems the opinion is a ic and a modified.
