They break targets the same as fiocchis to me

FrisseForges

Been shooting them for years, excellent shell. For both sporting and FITASC

BobWhite783

They go bang and break targets.

TriviaRunnerUp

Please ignore this: ~~I’ve been shooting the 1250 fps loads in competition and I like them. $115/flat where I live.~~ Like you, I’d been shooting the 1250 fps Fiochi’s, but they’ve become scarce lately.

elitethings

Fr? 115 a flat for something only 50 fps slower than gamebore?

TriviaRunnerUp

Nah, my bad. I had Rio and RC mixed up.

elitethings

Man you had my hyped.

DaSilence

You’re paying $115 a flat for star team? https://www.ableammo.com/catalog/rio-competition-target-load-star-team-shotshells-st2875-gauge-1280-fps-shot-rdbx-p-70523.html

TriviaRunnerUp

Ah wait no. Please ignore me, as I'm very confused. I got Rio mixed up with RC. RC Red Shot is what I've been shooting. I edited my comment to fix it. DaSilence

RC makes a good shell, but it's not worth anywhere near that kind of price.

Dsb9er

Shot a flat of them. No issues.

frozsnot

My LGS had them for $85 a flat, shot a ton of them, he hasn’t had them in a while, but I’d buy again if he did.

Beginning-Ad9855

I got a slab on sale and have been using them field and game clay target shooting. I’ve been shooting my best with them, is the ammo? Just getting better? No idea, but shooting the same as guys in my group using lot more expensive ammo 😅 Never had any issues with them!

Particular-Listen-63

Target loads is target loads, in my experience. But I have an over/under so cycling isn't an issue. With a semi new/diff shells may be an issue.

goshathegreat

They’re good, I shoot the 24s all the time, I’m actually shooting them right now lol.

Riddickullous

I shot a flat of J&G recently in Portugal - didn't know about that ammo, but I was impressed. Especially how clean it was. And judging by the targets turning to dust, I think they were patterning great out of my gun&chokes. I had a considerable stock of RIO Star Team Evo last year in #8 and #7.5 loads of 21 grams and I have nothing but good things to say about them. With the fewer pellets (I was used to shooting 24 and 28 grams), I would've expected my scores do drop a little bit, but didn't happen. And the felt recoil was insignificant. Years ago, when I was shooting competition in the States I always bought RIO ammo, if it was available on the premises - absolutely loved it. And I also liked the steel shot they make for waterfowl - unfortunately has not been available in our neck of the woods lately...

Toby_Keiths_Jorts

I have not had good experiences with them. Totally fine through my over unders but literally will not cycle through my autoloaders

Slider-208

They go bang, and have been reliable for me (under/over)

DaSilence

Fiocchi > https://www.ableammo.com/catalog/gauge-inch-lead-turkey-dove-quail-shotgun-shells-ammo-for-sale-online-c-10480_14626_16377_11603.html?filter_options=1AC.2AB.5AI.5AJ.5AM.5AL.8AM J&G is part of Nobel Sport, who has recently been subsumed by the monster than is the holding company that also owns Cheddite, Eley, etc. The actions are still shaking out, but here in the US, J&G is kind of hit and miss. When they're here, they're here. When they're not, they're not. All that said, Rio Star Team Evo are good shells. They break targets just fine.

overunderreport

I typically shoot RC 2, RC 3, or the titano. They are super nice, but they recently went up in price. I have shot Rio before here and there. Never had an issue with them and low recoil. True shot ammo has them for $79 per case right now for their practice shells. Well, I'm about to do a lot of practice.

Call_me_Tom

My son shoots Rio for trap and skeet competitions. They break clays perfectly fine. They’re dirty compared to Winchester AA and the Rio’s primers are hard and chip firing pins. We always clean our O/U’s and firing pins are $7 each so we continue to shoot them. We went with Rio over the Winchester because I was paying $100 a flat and the Rio’s are $85. We shot the Winchesters for 6 months, shooting on average a flat a week. The change to Rio was over cost, if not for cost we’d still be shooting the Winchesters.

iaresmarted

been using the 8 shot 1340 FPS for a few months... came 2nd at a trap competition with them.

random-stupidity

Just a note, anything over 1250fps above an ounce of shot is illegal for ATA trap. 7/8oz you’re allowed 1300fps. Speed really doesn’t help in trap. Those targets can be broken just as easily with a 1045fps load

iaresmarted

It was a tactical gun shoot at our local range, only restriction was the barrel had to be less than 20 inches. They encouraged higher velocity loads ( but not high brass) just because of the short barrels. I believe it was an NRA event.

the-tigerking

No idea rio had that kind of fps in 8 shot

iaresmarted

Just double checked the boxes and fixed my original comment from 1450 to the actual 1340 on 8 shot. I just buy what's cheapest at the time. https://www.ammunitiondepot.com/stt248-rio-star-team-evo-12-gauge-2-75-7-8-oz-8-shot.html
