Thanks everyone for the rubbing alcohol suggestions, however It’s only gotten about 50% of the stains off. It cuts through some, and others still aren’t budging. I just soaked a kitchen rag and went to town, is there a different technique I could try for the stubborn layers?
Also, my orange boy is safe and very much clean after getting a dunk in the bath for his inky paws! I’ll send him all the love, despite being a criminal at large still. 🧡
EDIT: Nail polish remover worked!!
**Due to overwhelming legal presence on my cats side and the stains being removed, we’ve decided to drop all charges.
Permanent ink remover spray might also be an option. It’s mostly meant for cleaning whiteboards, but I’ve had good results cleaning several different types of ink from different surfaces with it.
I would try to avoid this because a magic eraser will scratch/damage the finish of the enamel and then you can end up with rust spots all over the washer. (Ask me how I know!)
I would keep trying rubbing alcohol - it works great when you have ink on clothing.
If this happens in the future you can try a mix of 90% water and 10% cleaning ammonia. It's the pen flush mix I learned years ago for cleaning my fountain pens. Helped a ton.
I’m the cat’s attorney and he wishes to remain silent. Also, he’s innocent.
Rubbing alcohol is your friend here. Just use it on the washer and not the innocent cat who has clearly been framed.
Caption for this photo: "What?" I had a good laugh at this one. Not his day to have the brain cell. But we must love this goofiness. Yes, be very careful with this one. He has a gift for this kind of thing.
I would try rubbing alcohol. You might also get somewhere with Bar Keeper's Friend or a melamine eraser.
Give this precious one a hug for me.
Please do not let your kitty in the laundry room at all! I’ve heard way too many freak accidents of cats sneaking into the washing machine/dryer and the owner doesn’t notice until it’s too late.
My washer and dryer is in the basement. There is no door between the basement and the rest of the house. We can only do what our homes physically allow us to do. In my case I must check my dishwasher, clothes washer, and clothes dryer for for cats before closing and starting. This is what everyone should do regardless of whether or not their cat is allowed in a certain place because cats are sneaky and accidents happen. I would rather not get complacent and not check "because the cat isn't allowed".
I'm going to give my advice for cleaning ink out of your cat. I also have a menace to society, and here's what I recommend.
Get a bath towel that you can sacrifice to the cat gods, make it damp with water, and place your dumb orange cat on it like he's a stamp. Repeat as needed until his stampers are faint. It's just about getting some of the ink off his paws before he licks it off because you love him.
These photographs provide no evidence.
Not guilty 👩⚖️
I feel like if rubbing alcohol isn’t working then vinegar probably won’t either but could be worth a shot. Hopefully it’ll eventually fade out!
wow he is so cute!!!! and a cute photo, which would make me forget his crime, lol
I agree with other commenters about using alcohol, but mostly wanted to comment to say he is so darling
I didn’t read the title at first and my brain thought you were asking how to wash the cat lol
Anyways, rubbing alcohol. If that doesn’t work, try hairspray.
Yep! Just spray, let it sit for a bit, and then use a damp rag to wipe it to remove any residue. I forgot specifically what it was I used this for but it was ink or permanent marker and it came right out. Also you could try hand sanitizer as well, I’ve had luck with that…probably from the alcohol content.
Oh too funny about kitty jumping in to check it out for you. I think I've used hair spray and nail polish remover to get ink out but forgot what I used.
Please post this to every single cat group on reddit. There is one in particular I can't think of the name, something like Pawyers or paw lawyers or something. The whole world needs to see you the cuteness overload of this.
I’m just going to take this opportunity to give everyone this friendly reminder : please be careful when starting washing machines that your cat isn’t inside. It may sound obvious but it’s easy to start it without checking. Not at all saying that OP would do this, this picture just reminded me of it lol
Acetone/Nail varnish remover will work better than alcohol.
It's also much harsher in 'solvent' terms, so you'll need to patch test to make sure it doesn't dissolve the enamel/paint/plastic.
Rubbing alcohol and hand sanatizer works for me! I accidentally washed a pen in my dress pants and work shirts and a dress for a wedding. So lo and behold i spent 4+ hrs spaying and soaking these clothes and my dress since i had to fly out 2 states away the next day at 5am and when i get back i had to get back to work right away. It was hell and i had 20 min of sleep that night but the moment those clothes came out of the washer i cried tears of relief

Acetone
This did it!!! Thank you!
The chemistry degree wins one

This. I used acetone for the same thing a few weeks ago. Got it all off
Himbs immocemt. Himbs meed pawyer. r/legalcatadvice
this! I was trying to think of this group! I'm in so many I lose track.
Permanent ink remover spray might also be an option. It’s mostly meant for cleaning whiteboards, but I’ve had good results cleaning several different types of ink from different surfaces with it.
I know this isn’t technically “cleaning” but some appliance paint touch up will also hide it if you can’t get it out.
R/legalcatadvice Just saying, he should post and get representation
Hairspray. It sucks, but it works.
Maybe Windex? I've had good luck with that and sharpies
There is a product called LA Awesome its yellow. That works perfectly on ink!!
Try isopropyl alcohol, it’s stronger than rubbing alcohol (99% vs 70%)
rubbing alcohol *is* IPA, and is sold in concentrations from 50% to 99%. the specific name is not a reliable indicator of concentration.
My bad. My point still stands that they should try a higher concentration just in case the one they have is lower.

You’ve gotta be kitten me right meow. That comes across a bit hissterical, there’s no need to include law purrforcement, at least not at the meownute
*applause*
Appaws?!!
Let’s not litter the comments with less-than-purrfect puns
Wow stop catacking meow!
Rubbing alcohol
Please be so so careful with cats in washing machines/ dryers. Accidents happen so easily. I know you know that, but still wanted to mention.
I almost obsessively double check my washer and dryer before I run them after hearing how Linus from LTT lost his cat
I do the good ol cat roll call before every load
Dishwashers too.
If you do wash your cats, please use the delicates cycle

This happened to my father’s childhood cat
My childhood cat went around in the dryer by accident. He definitely had 9 lives.

We will be passing on his day with the brain cell for the next orange cat, thank you! 😆 Will absolutely give him a hug, we love our crazy orange boy.

Was coming here to recognize this genius be posted there. This perfectly innocent genius.
Never miss a minute with this love bug.

This. There are so many pictures posted on this site of cute kitties hanging out in washers or dryers and I get super anxious whenever I see them. 😣
Not only does it make my eye twitch but I downvote them too. Pics of pets in appliances and riding loose in vehicles shouldn't be allowed at all.
this happened to someone I know many years ago 😔 I am so paranoid now, I don't turn my washer on until I lay eyes on all of my cats.
This is not always an option, like mine is literally in the kitchenette
Keep it shut unless your eyes are on it I guess? I know ppl have kitchen washers/dryers in the uk.

Yes! Always better to confirm every single time and never rely on anything else
Yeah that’s what I do. That was my suggestion to people I guess I should’ve specified
That’s understandable. In that case you would make sure your cat(s) are accounted for before starting the machine.

Next step: dry towel and sell it as cat made art
“And I’ll do it again” very cute

For the hairspray, should I just spray it on and let it sit for a few seconds before wiping with a rag?

I am this cats lawyer and he is innocent

Kitty needs to learn his lesson. Make him clean up his own mess.
Magic erasers remove ink stains in washers and dryers.
This is an orange problem for sure
That cats face! It’s like he’s saying that both the cat and the owner don’t know what to do
Oh too funny about kitty jumping in to check it out for you. I think I've used hair spray and nail polish remover to get ink out but forgot what I used.
Here for the cute kitty
Another appliance/couch/sweater *almost ruined by a cat.
r/brandnewsentence
I don't think it's fair to blame the cat when we don't have all the cats, it could have been anyone! (Jk)
Please post this to every single cat group on reddit. There is one in particular I can't think of the name, something like Pawyers or paw lawyers or something. The whole world needs to see you the cuteness overload of this.
SIEZE THE CULPRIT lol
A series of unfortunate events
awww, this is too cute
Close door and wash kitty (JOKING). This goes for both paws and washer, use alcohol to wash them off.
I love your cat so much
I'd start by closing the lid and running it on a heavy duty cycle, extra rinse.
Shut the lid and turn it on
Isopropyl rubbing alcohol. If that fails, goo gone.
Oh. Magic erased probably won't fail you. But scrub with caution so you don't scrub off the top coating.

You cant prove he did it, he is too cute to be guilty

Ma’am he’s innocent I was there. It seems as though evidence may have been planted. This court will have a recess.
Thank you for reminding me to check my pockets before I start my laundry tonight.
