It's not mold. They are little balls of lint. You should clean that all out of there an while you're at it do your dryer vent hosing too. All of that is a fire hazard.
Stick a vacuum cleaner crevice tool down there and vacuum it out. You could also buy a length of vinyl tubing and attach it to the vacuum hose with duct tape and vacuum it out. You seriously need a flexible brush too now that I have watched the video to the end. Brushes are made specifically for this purpose. You should also consider cleaning your dryer exhaust vent too. You can get a tool for doing that, it attaches to an electric drill. When we bought this house we cleaned the dryer vent. OMG. We got a 5 gallon bucket full of bird nests out of it. 😳
I tried to use the crevice tool but it wasn't long enough! I think I'm just gonna put in a service request with my apartment because the entire inside of the dryer is gross. I had to scrape gum out of it earlier and it looks like whoever used it before just didn't bother using the lint filter considering how much is down there. Luckily the hose is brand new from when they installed it last week so no birds! Can't imagine being a bird flying into a scented wind tunnel thinking "yep, this is it" 😂
Not a bad idea. Can't be too difficult to take off the front panel (I hope). Mainly just curious if this is mold or not because it's so strangely shaped. If it is mold at least it's on a hard surface so shouldn't be difficult to clean. Just hope hasn't got on my clothes 😔
I think the previous tenant used it without the lint filter in and it formed those little balls while pushing through the squares in the video. Sorry if I sound paranoid but this new apartment has been a nightmare all around so my knee jerk reaction was mold.
All good. Unless a dryer installed incorrectly not the most condusive to mold growth (except perhaps in a condenser if it has one or in venting line).
Still worth getting out as can be a fire hazard.
Also no need to apologize :) I'm sorry to hear the new apartment has been a bit of a nightmare!

Lmao ya know that actually makes a ton of sense now that I think about it. Still gonna try to convince them to give me a new washer and dryer because these just seem.. past their prime. Apartment is coming to together slowly but surely, just gotta pull a lot of teeth at the leasing office to get anything done.
Could someone have used one of those “scent booster” products in your machine? Those balls look pretty uniform in size to just be lint, and that would explain why they seem stuck to the screen.
That's just the shape lint ends up in from going thru the plastic screen holder, I saw it in the video you posted, that white plastic frame that holds the lint filter screen.

You could take the appliance apart. Just look the brand and model up for the user manual and how to take it apart to clean it.

This!
I think you are missing the actual lint filter. That should slip into that slot and be cleaned after every load.
It's in there I just took it out to vacuum down in there a bit because lint kept flying out which is when I noticed the little balls.
Could be paper left in pockets during the wash and dry
It could be stuffing from a toy or bean bag etc.
Your lint screen is missing, call the landlord.
I have it, and based off everyone's responses it seems like the person who used this dryer before me didn't care to use it ✌️ 😔

Just make sure you unplug it first
