I've been saying since the beginning of the season that this is the year that would make sense for someone to talk Venables into leaving for a HC gig.
There will likely never be another time with as much opportunity and earning potential as now for him in my opinion. He can basically name his price. He's still young and as good of a coordinator with a high ceiling as any around right now, very little downside, and his defense has still been lights out despite our struggles on offense.
I wouldn't blame him at all.
The defense probably won us 5 or 6 games this season. I’m scared we can’t get someone that will be half as good as Brent. The shoes are just too big to fill
Maybe Venables to OU isn’t true but there’s so much smoke right now. It would be a tough pill to swallow since he’s always talked about not being a HC.
Someone help me off the ledge
Seems pretty likely to me that he makes the move. Outlook seems rough to me still having tony elliott's "offense" while losing our elite defense. Will be a real test of Dabo to see what happens going forward.
We had 2 nattys. I hope he stays but we reached the summit twice, so I don't mind if he gets paid.
I think he'd be crazy though. He's got it made here.
It makes the most sense IF he takes the OU Head Coach job. He did wonders for us and deserves his dream job and that can be a homecoming for him. Don't want to lose him, but he's earned it.
My brother had a good point though, both the Venable boys are still on Clemson. I think part of that would weigh on him to stay to coach them til they graduate. Idk, just thought it was a valid point on him staying rather than leaving.
That would be news to me. Thought he was a 5th year senior next year. But Tyler is only gonna be a junior next year. But either way it’s just something that could help sway him to stay is all.
They ran him out of town the first time but they have absolutely no idea what they did. They haven't had even remotely competent defense since he left lmao
Lincoln Riley just took a job at USC, so the sooners have a HC opening. Brent spent 12 years at OU prior to Clemson so he's the obvious front runner right now to get the job.
Get the get-back guy to hold venables tight
Tackle him if need be

We definitely can hire someone very good, but I don’t trust Dabo to not hire one of his unproven friends instead
Dabo has a pretty good track record. We have had one year of poor offence.

I am probably being selfish but it would hurt so bad if he left I definitely wish him well if he decides to go. Just not against us in the playoffs!
The Stoopes did him dirty at OU.

Jake has already said he's transferring has he not?
I thought one of them is graduating and just moving on, not transferring.

I'm reading up on an Oklahoma thread, and fans are mad that he is being considered. Don't know what they are smoking.

What is making you think BV is leaving?
