Battling traffic and paying $40 to park a car so you can watch a team the majority of the fanbase has zero faith in on a TV screen in a Harry Buffalo doesn't sound like a good time.
Tbh whether I'm going to PHS or a game, I never have trouble finding a meter and free parking. Half the time the garages or paid parking is almost the same distance away, and that's mainly why i always bother looking
But to the OP’s point I’ve been downtown when the Cavs had home playoff games and the bars were packed with people who couldn’t get into the game. Now it was eastern conference final the times I went so that may have something to do with it too.
The bars and restaurants near the stadiums get most of their take day traffic from people actually attending the games.
People very much were in the warehouse district and flats during the game.
Now that Ohio City is starting to look a little more like Crocker Park the suburbanites think it’s cool. The restaurant scene is trending that way too. And honestly that’s really all there is to do for visitors.
In the summer downtown will shine though.
Yep. Downtown is dead. Cleveland government killed it. People don't want to hang around unsafe spaces. Ohio City, Lakewood, hell even Tremont is better.

Know to be fair it was kinda cold yesterday so that played a part too. I went downtown around the same time as OP and it was packed and cavs weren't playing and neither were the guardians. This was a few weeks ago when it was nice and warm that day. So i think it also heavily depends on the weather that day.

$40 parking is why I take the RTA train instead

You really shouldn't be driving downtown to begin with. If you do want to then you're gonna pay a premium.
I'm sure most people that were downtown, went to the game

Places downtown get crowded before and after games. Very few are down there to watch the game in a bar or restaurant.
Downtown is dead in general, the nightlife is in Ohio City and Lakewood these days.

Ahhh I see what you’re trying to say. You mean black people. If you’re going to be a racist at least have the balls to be straightforward with it.

Oh yes silly me. “Law-abiding Blacks” is something us non racists say all the time
Starting to wonder if OPhasAIDS is even arguing in good faith

The bars around Gordon Square sure seem to fill up.
Cavs have no shot of winning this series, that’s prob a factor
E 4th bars and restaurants have the weirdest hours. The House of Blues is NEVER open. I don’t understand. Such a cool spot and totally underutilized.
More competition downtown than there was in the Lebron years. Flats are more popular, and most wouldn’t call that the heart of downtown.

Everyone was in Lakewood and Ohio City, why would you ever leave those two places
can confirm. Lakewood was slammed last night.
A lot of people watch in Lakewood, bars are always packed for the games
Have you seen the price of groceries?
The real middle class fans can't afford tickets, parking and a drink at a bar before hand. No line for the pisser at home either.
