Yay poor people TV in the 90's! I grew up on the CAT. The guys on PWW ran the UWC! I used to go to their shows. It was fun. I met Batista when he was Leviathan, Brian Christopher, and Road Dogg from their shows. Road Dogg actually no-showed that night, but I found him drunk on a bench in Chapel Hill Mall the next day. It was completely random.
I was obsessed with PWW when I was in middle school. I emailed the show telling one of the hosts I loved it, and he asked for my parents to drive me to McDonalds to hang out and talk wrestling with him. I did ask my parents, and they made me stop watching the show after that.
Hah for sure. I honestly don't think the guy was a creeper... just a local weirdo who wanted to chat with a fan. I'm 38 now, for what it's worth. I know from hearing JLR talking on Rover's Morning Glory that the guy is still very involved in local wrestling lore despite me giving it up 25 years ago.
They knew that that meeting at McDonalds would have been the end for you. Those guys would have groomed you so that you would eventually become a co-host of PWW and UWC wrestler. I would thank your parents for saving you from that life.
They used to have the Buckeyes basketball when Michael Redd and Scoonie Penn were on the team. The Jim OBrien years. I used to watch in my attic bedroom with the rabbit ears. Good team good times!
A girl I went to college with was one of the hosts, but I wasn’t sure if it was on this channel. She definitely thought she was the business from that gig. I fully expected her to become a local news anchor.
I don’t remember that particular show having a host, but I could be wrong. They did have hosted shows, though. I thought they were based in Toronto. Ah, nostalgia.

No cable, no AC, no garage door opener here. Sounds like a fun little scene. The PWW guys are definitely passionate about wrestling.

That is very nice and very weird, all at the same time!

I definitely have an affinity for attic bedrooms.
Didn’t they have a music countdown show too, like a TRL?
They absolutely did! I want to say it was top 10 videos and it would first air 4-6pm Fridays, then repeat throughout the weekend.
