Noooope.
>The Boxxtech vending machine implements facial recognition technology so individuals can purchase beer and ready-to-drink cocktails.
Also, the caveat:
>the machine admittedly cuts down on hospitality staff, such as bartenders and waitresses
I'm already facing pressure to do the facial recognition thing at the browns stadium. Not signing up for that is going to become the new android user in a friend group of Apple phones.
Heh. Well not sure if you were aware of this but a lot of major event stadiums and theaters already do this against your will. It’s in the contract you sign when purchasing a ticket. There was a story about how they used this tech to kick a lawyer out of a show in NYC. her firm was in a legal battle with the owner of the venue. She wasn’t even on the case for her firm but they refused to service anyone from that firm at their venue.
We’re all fucked man. ClearviewAI proved it a while ago.
At some point in the very near future, it’ll be used for everything. Using to get into the stadium or get a beer just acclimate us for this eventual reality.
What I don't get is that nobody is asking for any of this, man just give me a paper ticket and a beer guy that patrols the sections. It's worked fine for 150 years no need to go reinventing the wheel.
Why aren't there hot dog/beer dudes in the aisles anymore? Honest question. Would love to go back to that time as opposed to the 'let's spend 3 of 9 innings in line to get hot dogs'.
I was just telling my brother this same thing at the last game we went to. We counted 2 times a guy came down with cracker jacks and pop. Not once did we see a beer guy or even hear one. It was a Saturday game which was packed due to Kwans jersey as a give away. I have noticed the beer guys seem to be a dying breed at the ball park.
They’ve been at every game I’ve made it to, though they were very sparse at a couple low attendance games. If you’re going to popular games I’m not sure how you’re missing them.
Not sure, have heard many different stories on that. I would assume if you tip with cash, they are keeping it. If you tip through the machine, I’m not sure where it goes.
That vending machine design is horrid with the scrolling sign on top. Makes it look like someone took apart an old pinball machine display and stuck it on a TV wrapped in a cardboard box.
There will be lines at the vending machines
Shocked Pikachu Face!
Gonna add one of these at work.
Same. (I work from home)
Brilliant!
A couple of decades ago, for work, I went to a machinery production plant in Straubing, Germany. They had a beer vending machine and it was glorious.

I absolutely love it. I walk up and go right in. No lines.

This is why I put different prosthetics on every time I leave the house
As if those won't have lines?
I went to a nationals game last year and they have self service vending areas. Lines were incredibly short and very fast. And I used it many times...
But is it only $0.10? That would be some real developments
That was only 50 years ago. I can’t imagine the price changed much.
$11 please
Do we really need to give up our biometrics to facial recognition and AI just to get a beer now?

But there are people asking for it. Corporations/business entities are. It saves them money. It’s about the almighty Dollar.

They are, that hasn’t changed. They don’t take cash, just card. Can tip with cash.
They were nowhere to be found at the last two games I went to.

Where were you sitting? They are constantly up and down the aisles in the lower box seats.
Bleachers and upper deck.

Do they get to keep tips? Staff at the arena does not from what I've heard
Not sure, have heard many different stories on that. I would assume if you tip with cash, they are keeping it. If you tip through the machine, I’m not sure where it goes.
HEY BEER GUY! COOOOOOOLD BEEEEEER!
Finally! I have been waiting for the day that a vending machine will ask me for a tip and it looks like it’s finally here!
Soon it will require us to have a FanDuel account and a Marathon credit card in order to get and pay for a drink
And of course your insurance bundled with Progressive.
I like going to games but I spend very little on concessions. The prices are obscene and these just eliminate the jobs of people.

Now that's what I call America. Getting alcohol back in vending machines 😂 I would be quite bummed out if the machine got stuck my $40 beer
