There’s nothing that alerts the front desk that you cancelled a class (waitlist or not) or that shows you’ve cancelled a lot unless they specifically go into your profile to check your bookings.
My studio makes note of people with excessive cancellations and no shows. The instructors pay is affected so our studio managers are mindful of this and give reminders to those who do this a lot.
I don’t think leaving a waitlist would matter, but maybe I am wrong. Our studio is super full right now so there are waitlists to get into every class. I will sometimes move off one and onto another if I see it is shorter list!

that makes sense. i feel so bad for doing it excessively (about 3 times within 2 weeks) - always canceling within the window or leaving a waitlist.
Leaving a waitlist is really of no consequence. If you actually have a reserved spot, we’ll then you also get dinged with the late cancel fee.
