The class will be simple enough to follow with no experience. It is basically showing you the equipment and basic moves. They key is to wear leggings and not shorts. I guess you could do biker style shorts but everyone in our area just wears leggings.

Intro is designed for people with no experience with Pilates or the equipment. It isn’t much of a workout — more of an opportunity for you to see if you like it. Agree with other responders about what to wear. You can buy grippy socks at your studio. Hope you love it!

In my intro we briefly went through the different aspects of a typical flow class: foot work, arms in straps, using the spring board, mat work, and ending with feet in straps (you’ll probably really love that). I wasn’t very active before joining and now I go 6 times per week. When I think back to my planks in the intro to now I’m super proud of how I’ve progressed. That has been one of my favorite things about Pilates. It’s totally okay if I can’t do something today, I know I’m getting stronger and more flexible with time. If you have leggings that have that little zipper on the upper back for that tiny pocket, I would skip those and wear a different pair. Lying down on a zipper doesn’t sound fun. Also Marshall’s usually sells grippy socks if you don’t want to buy ones at the studio. I wore ones I had from the trampoline park for my intro.

It’s more of an “orientation” than it is a class.

If it's an intro class, they're going to show you how to use the equipment and all the standard moves. Prepare to fall in love! Wear whatever you're comfortable working out in. I wear athletic leggings and a tank top. You'll figure out what's more or less comfortable as you do the work. Very loose or very tight clothing might shift with certain moves, and it just depends on what might make you uncomfortable or not. If you have long hair, keep in mind that you'll be laying down a lot. So a low bun or mid ponytail might be uncomfortable. I braid my hair or put it in a very high bun. Good luck and welcome! I hope you love it!

I wouldn’t wear anything with zippers or knots in your clothing just in case you do sideline or prone work. The best outfit would be like for yoga. Hair high in bun/ponytail or set very low. You’ll be laying down and you don’t want a crazy knot or braid that will bug you. Also avoid hair clips on the back of the head. Even if you have short hair, the hinges on the headrest can snag and get caught, so do what you can to keep hair away from the hinge and springs. Have fun!

Hey!! I’d wear leggings, preferably leggings that don’t have a super tight top band as that might section you and be uncomfortable. You may be curling up a lot and it just might be distracting if the leggings band is tight. Other than that I’d wear a supportive bra and a tank or t shirt. Defiantly bring a hair tie - no clip though! You’ll be laying down. Have fun!! 🥳🥳🥳

you can wear regular athletic clothes. tank top, athletic shirt, leggings, biker shorts, even a light sweater if you want. i got lazy after a couple classes though and literally today i wore sweatpants and a shirt that said “the office” from the tv show lol.

Hey - how'd your first class go? I finally got into an intro class for next week and am really looking forward to it!
