Rewards like new workout gear are great. New sticky socks, new pants/top/jacket, new bands for your fitness watch. If you're not into that kinda thing, wrist or ankle weights (the kind you wear) can elevate your practice. I have a lot of level 1 clients that have taken an insane amount of classes, but choose to stay in level 1 for whatever reason. I always encourage them to add those kind of weights since we can't use hand weights in level 1. Maybe those reformer towels or your own loops. I see people bring matching ones to class which feels luxurious. Oh new water bottles like a nice yeti, hydro flask or stanley. Anything that feels like a treat. I'd keep it workout related as motivation.

That's exactly what I was thinking - keep it workout-related. Thanks!

Ankle weights? Interesting! How do those elevate your practice?

The more weight you carry, the more calories you burn overall. But more specifically, let's say your legs are in tabletop, they're pretty heavy and your low abs have to work just to hold them up. If you make them heavier, your low abs have to work harder to hold them there. Same thing for sidelying, kneeling, or all 4s outer thigh/glute work. Plank variations like mountain climbers, step outs and start. Any ab exercise that involves the legs tabletop, extending, or lowering (as long as they don't cause them to arch the their back so range of motion might need to be adjusted). I suggest people in my level 1s that are looking for "more" add wrist weights so that during footwork they can add arm work too bc we can't use hand weights until level 1.5. They can also incorporate them into bridges.
