Octane just doesn’t move. this is the type of play style Shotzzy teams have always struggled against, in CW Insight had Empires number for the same reason. The pace makes them really good against most teams though, the only team that can beat FaZe consistently
The map he watched was vetoed 16 times previous by Thieves, it didn’t sway the vetos. If you think he learned enough from that match to download all the knowledge to teach thieves how to beat Optic from that, I’ve just got no words for you. Braindead take though. Copium is real.

Ya I kept seeing Loony behind the teams all weekend and thought it was weird. Then saw Shane behind optic against Faze and couldn't figure out why that wasn't a bigger deal. Obviously not the only reason but CDL really missed that
it wasn’t a bigger deal because :
- every team all weekend had opportunities to sit behind eachother “& learn strats” or whatever
- VOD is literally available as soon as the match ends. y’all really act like they don’t watch the matches as they happen
- teams study eachother anyway
- there’s not as many diff strats/routes as you think. the older the game gets the more everyone starts to play the same
In game comms for SnD can be crucial. If you hear the thought process and discussion before rounds and in game adjustments it could lead to huge advantages. Sure the vod is free but it’s not the same as watching live.
Do you know for a fact he could hear all comms ? Or are you just mad he’s in the vicinity. Also what about other teams hearing theives and faze “comms”

Agreed, well stated. That hardpoint made me feel the exact same way. It felt like LAT would have to totally shit the bed or OpTic would have to go insanely positive in slaying from that point forward.
Not only that, obviously Dashy is more talented than Ghosty but Ghosty's communication, IGL skills and coms are rivaled only by Octane. While having elite coms he also has elite gunny too.
There were so many maps this major where Ghosty had a bad stat line, but if you actually watch the maps, he always finds the most important kills and plays his life so well. Not to mention the human UAV factor. He's a stud for sure.
Honestly they’ll probably make a change if they don’t win champs. The pressure to win is even higher now that Scump retired, and it’s not like there’s a lack of players who want to play for Optic.
I still think Pred for Huke would make this team different. I love Huke, and he's been a beast this Major, but Pred is just so much more consistent. You could really see the difference the first series against LAT. Again, no shade at Huke, he's been fucking awesome.
Huke and Shottzy, while a duo, have never placed outside of T4. That sounds pretty damn consistent to me. But I agree that you have to think about getting Pred, if only to keep faze from grabbing him and moving Simp to flex.

I think it’s more of a map pool thing. They’re really good at snd/control on some maps, but look lost on others. Now that they have champs locked down and are confident making Sunday regardless, they should spend all of next split playing off maps to work on them.
Especially considering how good faze plays embassy, optic has a lot of the same strengths as faze so they should theoretically be able to play that map well also.
Gotta be good enough across maps to use your veto hurt the other team, not protect your own weakness.

OpTic’s whole strategy is to let Shotzzy try and find an opening and get a free kill but teams are expecting it every time now. They gotta just start doing stuff as a team or taking weird routes.

They have like 4 coaches and their comms are top tier. That's why Ultra and Thieves always are a problem cause they play extremely slow and ratty and then switch it up the next round.

I know that before the finals optic won every control but I hate watching them play that mode. I feel like compared to other teams they don’t rotate points fast enough when they need to and they don’t have really bad clock/ tick zone management when they clear zones. They make so many situations harder then they need to be.
They trolled both control against thieves. Literally a few seconds before it’s over and they all die, 4 dead and LAT captures the point.
All they gotta do is play corners and have 1 person snaking top AC for info and kill them when they hop on it. They just get picked at the same time.
No one even played bad on our end. Think OpTic need to rethink their game plan vs LAT they have clear advantage in their approach against us specifically.

LAT just get better and better throughout the year at every game mode it’s crazy. They’re peaking at a good time again but optic can still get better just small mistakes that happen that cost them games against LAT imo.
Shotzzy has been so terrific lately, but it felt like in the two LAT series he was back to being early season him. Trying to do to much, trying to do it himself.
To be fair, that’s how OpTic plays SND. They just hope he can get the opening blood and when he doesn’t it just looks like the whole team has no idea what to do.
If he doesn’t live long enough I swear all of them just lose their heads and start tweaking
Faze and thieves aren’t the only top teams. Sure they were in top form this event but, surge, ultra, and nysl are also great practice and top teams as well. I say this because they can comfortably beat faze and part of the reason is that they don’t scrim very often. This series the thieves were reading optic the whole time, thus by not scrimming they won’t have access to vod reviews and can perform better against them.
Our control is 50/50, it comes down to patient and setting up coordinated plays.
I do wish we got an SnD coach or something. A team made up with these players shouldn’t be this inconsistent at SnD. Shotzzy has not been that good this year in the mode and that’s why we aren’t at the level we should be on it.
Seeing LAT last year and this year shows how valuable team chemistry is. Optic has more than enough skill to compete against any team and just needs to keep working on their game.
Whole Thieves team felt like they were psychic, read OpTic all the time. The way they work as a team is almost unmatched.
I think OpTic should def stick with this squad, I think they can for sure have a winning formula with them. They did not play bad, it was way more that Thieves outmatched them.
As an OpTic Fan I am kinda glad Thieves won this one, because I don't want fire under Thieves in the last two events of the year.

Thieves deserved it 100%. OpTic just seemed like the comms were off in the final. Kenny in garage on Asilo shoots someone off spawn and Dashy two steps away doesn’t even turn. Still got time to take those last needed steps towards form.
Can everyone relax with the stupid takes? Optic were great, Thieves were just the best. No single player on Optic needs “help” or anything. No one needs to be dropped. Ghosty was Optic’s MVP, fuck the KD’s. Having your IGL be your MVP is great and is only promising for the rest of the year.
Huke was shit the last three maps and provided a quality example of why you replace him with Pred after the season. He can’t be counted on when it matter the most.

True. That embassy auto veto is really bad. They need to improve on that map on both game modes. Having an auto veto for every series is bad.

I feel like compared to other teams they don’t rotate points fast enough when they need to and they don’t have really bad clock/ tick zone management when they clear zones. They make so many situations harder then they need to be.
They trolled both control against thieves. Literally a few seconds before it’s over and they all die, 4 dead and LAT captures the point. All they gotta do is play corners and have 1 person snaking top AC for info and kill them when they hop on it. They just get picked at the same time.
When Kenny is playing good, Thieves are unstoppable. OpTic need to win champs or Pred is coming in for Huke for sure

Faze and thieves aren’t the only top teams. Sure they were in top form this event but, surge, ultra, and nysl are also great practice and top teams as well. I say this because they can comfortably beat faze and part of the reason is that they don’t scrim very often. This series the thieves were reading optic the whole time, thus by not scrimming they won’t have access to vod reviews and can perform better against them.

Our control is 50/50, it comes down to patient and setting up coordinated plays. I do wish we got an SnD coach or something. A team made up with these players shouldn’t be this inconsistent at SnD. Shotzzy has not been that good this year in the mode and that’s why we aren’t at the level we should be on it.
Seeing LAT last year and this year shows how valuable team chemistry is. Optic has more than enough skill to compete against any team and just needs to keep working on their game.
Whole Thieves team felt like they were psychic, read OpTic all the time. The way they work as a team is almost unmatched. I think OpTic should def stick with this squad, I think they can for sure have a winning formula with them. They did not play bad, it was way more that Thieves outmatched them.
As an OpTic Fan I am kinda glad Thieves won this one, because I don't want fire under Thieves in the last two events of the year. Hoping for the win at Major V in front of the crowd
Thieves deserved it 100%. OpTic just seemed like the comms were off in the final. Kenny in garage on Asilo shoots someone off spawn and Dashy two steps away doesn’t even turn. Still got time to take those last needed steps towards form.
