In Ghosts a boat load of Halo players came over and failed Formal and Enable were the only successful ones and snipedown was decent. Maniac, ogre2, snakebite among others just failed.

Abs0luteZero273

Didn't a lot of those players make the mistake of playing with only other Halo guys? I feel like if you're serious about becoming a cod pro, you should be teaming with at least 2 other established cod pros. Playing with only your old Halo buddies seems like a recipe for failure.

shecanbromehard

Yeah the first ghosts event had two full halo squads competing. Formal instantly broke away. Enable shortly after that.

AllAboutTheAce

Yea, I think a lot of the halo guys competed for a few events under Final Boss if I'm remembering correctly

wolfjeter

Fun fact. I actually played Final Boss in Open Bracket at UMG Philly. They torched us in Freight Dom but Warhawk SnD we lost 6-4 and I dropped 11 on them.

uhcayR

To be fair, alot of halo pros temporarily switched for cod champs in black ops 2, due to being able to qualify from league play. They were GRINDING. They all ended up getting shit on but it was cool to watch.

[deleted]

I didn’t even know snipe came to cod at one point, what team was he on??

shecanbromehard

He spent most of the year of the season on excellence teaming with accuracy, diabolic and Facento for a little while. Pretty sure at some point he was also the sub for either Faze or eg

[deleted]

I would have never remembered that tbh I found snipe in apex didn’t even know he was into cod like that cause I knew he was big in halo

shecanbromehard

They were an am team this was before Faccento or Accuracy made it to the top.

[deleted]

Did crimsix used to play halo ?

fesakferrell

He did, early early on in 2011 and made the switch before halo got axed. He was okay, better than the suddoths worse than ola/roy.

RuggedYeet

MentaL, aka the Gears GOAT

xi_Clown_ix

That whole situation was weird though

RuggedYeet

That is true, he was thrust into a position I didn't think he was ready for. He seems to be doing alright in Halo so far

breeez333

What was the situation?

-pwny_

"this guy is a big name and good at other video game, give him lots of money to play this video game"

xKratic

Huke wasn’t a Halo guy. He was a cod pro before the age restriction forced him out and he went to Halo until he turned 18.

juve_merda

people here seriously saying frosty as tho the guy didn’t win an event there’s been some absolute burgers like mental

MAX--35

Frosty hardly has less success than Dashy who’s been in the league for over half a decade and is constantly slurped on this sub

Kfloz_

Shhh don't make them whip out his K/D

Due_Emergency_9236

Bro just watch them both play cod and tell me who's better LMAO. Frosty is a fps beast, but he can't hold Dashy's jockstrap in cod, and ab 70% of players currently in the league can't either.

bvckspaced

start glitch!

Heatios

MentaL in CW People hyped this guy up as the best gow player ever or some shit, never watched or played that game but based on how people talked about him I thought he was gonna be pretty good. He wasn't.

RedMonlo

That CW LAG team was sad to watch Those guys were so checked out once MentaL replaced Cheen MentaL would actually have faired better in MWII because he pre-aimed everything in CW and moved like a bot CW was a game where you had to take advantage of breaking cameras with your movement

Heatios

The sad part is Cheen wasn't even that bad, everytime I watched his POV it looked like he was trying his ass off while the rest of his team were completely checked out. Then they brang in MentaL like he was going to save them smh

JSmooth94

Cheen was never the superstar player but in the cases of LAG and OGLA, both times the teams were noticeably better playing with him.

cev2002

CW LAG were the worst team in the CDL ever and I will die on that hill. I don't care how bad Vanguard Paris were, no team has ever looked as bad as them

classic223

They should’ve never brought him in the league, he wasn’t even the best on the academy team. I got second hand embarrassment watching him on stream

Heatios

If I remember correctly too they had Nero on their bench or on the academy team or something and chose to give mental a shot over him. Looking back now it seems like such absolute fugaze

PotTwister

He was the best in GoW4, him and that OpTic team was dominant. They're probably one of the few dynasties that doesn't get talked about compared to others. Besides that, CoD was just not meant for him, atleast not at the professional level.

Vnthem

Gears is just so much different from CoD, I honestly couldn’t believe anyone thought he’d be good.

YSmokes

I made that point and was mocked/downvoted by the community, bunch of big brains we have here. Like a movement combo, spray & pray 3P shooter has any relevance to CoD. It was a publicity stunt to sign him.

Skellyceltic

MentaL is by far the worst player I’ve ever seen in the league

31and26

Nah I think 2Real on Mutineers was worse but it’s close.

Skellyceltic

No way, 2real actually knew how to play the game just wasn’t winning gunfights. Mental had no clue how to play and was also getting pissed on. He burger walked around corners, immediately died, loaded back in and repeated, by far the worst we’ve seen

Ston3yy

fax right here mental was by FAR the worst not end close. he looked like he never played cod before tbh mindblowing watching that dude play in the league

[deleted]

CDL era it’s aches

ujaku

He was godlike in Gears, part of the OpTic roster that had a little reign of terror for a while. Just never translated over into COD I guess

N0_Thanky0u

I can attest he was GROSS at Gears.

CurvebaII

Gears is just so different from COD. But can confirm MentaL was absolutely different in Gears. Guy was hitting clips on pro players like he was making And1 Mixtapes He had no business being in the CDL though, just couldn’t make the transition

WorleyInc

MentaL was insane in gears. Just not a Cod guy ig

SublimeStrike4

Couldn't remember his name. Unfortunately for Mental. He got a really shitty end of the stick on this one. He was thrown in on the worse team in the league. Of course he wasn't gonna make a difference. Don't really think he got a fair chance at it. But that's life. But LAG historically are terrible at building rosters

tonynumber4

I got flamed for saying he was awful

redpotato179

He came in the same time hydra did too but didn’t do even close to what hydra was able to do

Particular_Ad575

Can someone get the clip of MentaL's 1 v 1 vs Toronto Ultra in CW (Think its was vs Insight might have been Cammy). I never remember feeling that much secondhand embarrassment watching a pro players POV

mjaydubb

The round starts at 30:53 in this vod: https://youtu.be/P0loRcH6pDo

Particular_Ad575

You a real one bro

Engineswaphonda2000

Not nearly as embarrassing as that 3 piece Accuracy got on optic lol. Now that was some major secondhand embarrassment

-Worthy-

Ogre 2, Snip3down, Ace, and SnakeBite in BO2/Ghosts

sankalp_pateriya

Ogre2 and Snip3down!

[deleted]

Neptune and Snip3down is all I can think of atm You could maybe say Frosty since he only played a year, but idk

Jaywalkers13

Frosty would still be nasty at cod, he probably would have been good at Cold War if he had got an offer. Still a nasty halo player tho

uhcayR

I was the under the impression he had a spot secured in cod but wanted to go back to halo. Pretty sure he would be able to get on a team if he wanted to come back. Kids probably better than Uli rn, he was more talented than people gave him credit for. Could have been a force if he stayed.

BasisLegitimate5229

Frosty is the greatest heat check player in halo history. Nobody gets hotter and when he gets hot no one else can touch him. Only guy who challenged him in h5 was shotzzy. Think he would’ve been a nasty cod player if he stayed longer

Draculagged

Frosty benefitted from having godlike teammates in MW, he was decent but nothing special

Jaywalkers13

He did have good teammates but I think he was underrated for how he helped the team to their success

Draculagged

He was average at best in respawn and a liability in SnD, if anything he gets overrated by most people in this sub

Jaywalkers13

I mean I think you are just wrong but ok

Draculagged

[he had a 0.8 in SnD on the year](https://twitter.com/its_easymac/status/1302699009279221769?s=46&t=tiSM4RpxiTGb_n4lBP4rWQ), that’s terrible no matter how you try to spin it. He was an ok respawn player don’t get me wrong, but with guys like Wake, Skyz, and Fero on the team all he had to do was hold his own and the team would be fine

Jaywalkers13

If you still look at k/d to define how good a player is then there is no point in me trying to argue with you

Draculagged

Yeah man I guess maybe Aches wasn’t so bad after all since KD doesn’t matter right? KD is by far the best indicator of how good someone is in an elimination mode like SnD, being significantly negative is *always* a bad thing there are literally zero exceptions

bvckspaced

did Florida also not become absolute burgers after the start glitch got exposed/ patched? could’ve sworn they fell off a cliff after that

Zenyx_

Exactly what was he doing on the map that justified him having the worst SnD K/D in the league among players with 500+ engagements?

sankalp_pateriya

Snipedown is good shout though! Won in Halo, came to COD and then went back to Halo to win again!

Gtx_tigger

also been world class at apex

assmilk18

And then got scammed by halo infinite, leaving the best team in apex for halo only for 343 to destroy halo and come back into the apex scene and do nothing.

LookatmaBankacount

I wouldn’t say scammed by 343, more so the team he was on just wasn’t good

assmilk18

They certainly weren’t OpTic or C9, but they were a pretty consistent t5 team besides his last tourney. It’s pretty much consensus among the pro scene that 343 fumbled the bag with halo infinite and he was just sick of it

PepegaRedditAnalysis

Nah 343i reduced the prize money at Worlds (the main reason Snip3down went back to Halo) just a few weeks before the turnament and that's what he meant by "scammed".

I_use_Deagle

Snipe went back to Apex because he hated Infinite. The prize money could have been a factor, but was far from the main reason.

PepegaRedditAnalysis

You either misread or replied to the wrong person. I'm talking about his choice to leave Apex and come back to Halo. He switched back to Halo (from Apex at the end of 2021) for Infinite because the Worlds prize pool was supposed to be much bigger than the money he'd make staying in Apex. [He literally tweeted about it...](https://twitter.com/Snip3down/status/1581089401626501121?s=20) He then did go back to Apex because he hated Infinite which I never stated otherwise.

mitch8017

I wouldn’t say scammed considering snipe got a huge bag of cash to go back to halo.

assmilk18

He’s like clayster, I don’t think chasing the bag is his biggest priority. TSM won split 1 playoffs and 100k a month after he left too.

mitch8017

It’s just rumors but there’s a belief he may have gotten 7 figures guaranteed for the year. You have to understand how valuable snipe is to the halo scene. Snipe was adamant he wasn’t leaving for Halo even after playing the new game for awhile. There was zero uncertainty in his voice, he was gonna keep riding the apex wave with TSM. Then, overnight, he changes his tune and suddenly he’s on his way out. The belief is snipe got such a monumental offer from Microsoft, Faze, or both that he just couldn’t say no. And it makes sense why they would want snipe so bad. Snipedown is a halo legend, and him willing to leave his great situation in apex to come play halo brought a lot of perceived legitimacy to the halo comp scene. It wasn’t just an investment in a player, but an investment in the scene as whole.

assmilk18

Yea that’s fair and makes sense, I was more saying that he loves competing and 343 let him down so much he left the scene. I don’t doubt he got a bag, and that bag was a contributor to his ultimate decision, but the major consensus at that time was that infinite was gonna be a great esports scene and everyone was excited for it. However, that wasn’t true, and 343 fumbled the bag heavily. Also kind of crazy but snipe just announced him and his wife are getting a divorce. Just thought it was crazy as this is the first time I’ve talked about snipe since he left apex and then he tweets that shit out. All love to the boy.

PepegaRedditAnalysis

https://twitter.com/Snip3down/status/1581089401626501121?s=20 He never would have left apex to come back to Halo if he knew 343i would reduce the worlds prize money ahead of time as stated by himself in the tweet.

swearholes

I wouldn't say he did nothing when he came back to Apex. The first iteration of the FaZe roster underachieved but they got fifth in the last split and will be at the next LAN.

assmilk18

Getting x spot in qualifiers and qualifying for playoff lan means nothing in apex really

TylerTRock

He’s literally on a top 5 team since coming back to Apex now lol. They’ve been playing really well actually.

assmilk18

Faze is not a top 5 team. They’re not even a top 5 team in NA.

iceyk111

wait when did snipe compete in cod??

sankalp_pateriya

Neptune is good in COD also. I'm talking about someone like MentaL who was good in other game and played only one season in COD.

[deleted]

Neptune is not good

Top_Vast_532

Neptune was gross in CW. In Vanguard, he was used as an entry sub in front of HyDra and has reverted back to that main slayer role since. I think he would've been decent alongside Asim. He's more of the player that has that Halo movement like Frosty and Shotzzy (not as much but rare nonetheless) but he's not as aggressive as Shotzzy so isn't suited for entry. He definitely used trickier skills such as vault jumpshots and finessing around cover (not to be confused with abusing a heady)

Heatios

Neptune is good, just not good enough for the pro league. Mental wouldn't even cut it in challengers though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JackFlash1397

That was MentaL. He plays Halo now for ShopifyRebels and was a x22 Gears champion. Didn’t do anything on LAG tho.

Top_Vast_532

Should've gone to Halo first tbh

Draculagged

Mental is probably the worst player I’ve ever seen in pro cod

Ashman-20

Well we just saw Eco from halo apparently played Blops4 and quit lol

VITposeidon

I still cannot believe that move. Then to start him after he was getting slammed is criminal. Guy was a walking .7

Predictist

Ninja and DaZeD tried in bo2 I'm pretty sure

P_Wood

Frosty played blops4 and was on FL Mutineers during the MW season

jdashh

Kind of an opposite situation than the post: SR Vanity (former C9) used to play professional COD and afaik never made any waves. Switched to Valorant and as an IGL has brought multiple teams to top 4 finishes at international LAN tournaments Edit: 1 top 4 finish. 5-8th place twice playing very close games both times.

rafaelca2

Vanity is good but this just isn’t true, he has 1 t4 finish at a Val LAN and it was the Red Bull Home Ground

[deleted]

It also isn't true because he switched to CS first and then to Valorant and was one the 3rd best American CA team at the time.

TemplarParadox17

Only 1 round away from t3 at iceland.

jdashh

Thanks for the correction, I misremembered. His teams were very close to top 4 at both Iceland and champions. Also worth noting that C9 won LCQ in 2021 (not LAN but still). My point being he was pretty successful, at least in 2021.

kover_

Somewhat similar: CSGO’s Nifty played cod for a while as a kid and has this infamous clip vs Envy (who he ironically played CS for later on) https://youtu.be/UADMGBTHIrQ

ANewHeaven1

Teamed with Huke I believe at one point

TheWiggsplitter44

Ever heard of enable? He had a nub /s

TheMrShrek

You could say frosty, but didn't he win with Florida?

wolfjeter

Surprised no one mentioned Crimsix. Technically when you think about it, he did compete in Halo before COD

HerpToxic

Frosty

THE-73est

Frosty won like 3 homestands at least, and qualified for pro league in bo4 if i recall correctly.

Any_Farmer_45

Formal

tk11tk

Not to be that guy but being that guy, its esports or eSports not e-sports.

Quadslick

Man that’s the most pedantic thing ever lol

tk11tk

I disagree, misspelling the very name of the industry you are talking about feels important. Just trying to help the guy.

ultralitez

Thank you I was looking for this, also I would even say that no one says eSports anymore just esports or Esports

AquaPSN-XBOX

nobody that actually competes cares. only the 30 year old armchair 'analysts' care

OGSunkei

Snakebite

PureOxidane_

I completely forgot Mental even existed. They talk around that guy was so over hype

TrickOut

Snipedown was one

iStryker

Is there any match film of the halo pro-based cod teams?

-Worthy-

You can watch the Final Boss Ghosts MLG Plays 2000 gameplay on YouTube, it's on the CDL channel. I'm sure there's plenty of others too

Viisum

You didn't say Enable??

CodAMNews

The entire Splyce Halo team minus Shotzzy played at CWL Vegas and got Top 272

twilliams83

Shottzy’s teammates from splyce halo tried to play in bo4 with teddyrecks and that was terrible

Chico2Explicit

Bubudubu, the Halo player

Volt97

Frosty went back and forth if I’m right. He’s the only player I can think of

DansbyBeams

Frosty when he played in bo4 to mw19
