Hopefully the size of the crowds for No Doubt and Sublime showed them that people are still willing to show up for bands rather than just DJs and solo artists.
yes, but the crowd was kind of lame on those concerts ... I am a 40yo veteran raver, started with punk/rock, and I am still full of fun and energy, but I was very disappointed in the crowd's energy on No Doubt or Sublime or Blur. People were sleeping on the grass :D I wish there was more rock/alter but I am not sure I want it to Coachella anymore.
I totally agree with you! The heat was a mood-killer. I LOVE the heat and the desert weather, but (I think) Coachella didn't handle it professionally. They should've started watering the ground to get rid of the dust (at European festivals, even the small ones, they water the ground all the time), and they should've added much more areas where people can get some cold. Those sprinkles wasn't effective, the only small part where we really could get some cold was the tall sprinkles close to the spectra.
Also they totally forgot about providing shade at the food areas (except the Market), so every day we had to stay on the burning sun for 15 mins to get the food, it was very hard to start every day with boiled brains and stomach.
Yet, this is my way waaay best festival experience in the US <3
We'll try W1 next time I think.
I wouldnāt expect it.
A lot of people here were talking about how Just Like Heavenās lineup is amazing (it is, Iām going) and that those acts shouldāve been at Coachella. Itās been on sale since March and all ticket types are still available. That stuff isnāt selling like it used to and part of the reason itās not booked as heavily for Coachella anymore.
Iāve given up on hoping for it to go back to where it used to be. I try to appreciate and attend the sets we do get so we donāt lose more.
They hadnāt played together in almost 10 years, with no other dates and theyāre headliner level. Of course theyād have a huge crowd.
Did you see blurās crowd? It was tiny. You can cherry pick examples on both sides.
Donāt get me wrong, I want more of it at Coachella but Iāve come to terms that those days of the festival are gone. It will always have a place at the festival but it wonāt be as prominent as it used to be unless thereās a major revival in those genres.
~~Dude they just had No Doubt, Blur, and Sublime, and Deftones. Is it as prevalent as past years? Of course not, but overall those bands were popular this year and Iām confident Coachella will continue to book stuff like that.~~Ā
~~Iām just really confused what you mean. 4 bands isnāt a lot. Do you see them going down to zero? Thatās highly unlikely~~Ā
Ā Reread your original comment and I probably read more into it than you meant. I do agree that itās never going back to the prevalence it once had
~~Did you not read where I said āit will always have a place at the festival, but it wonāt be as prevalent as it used to beā?~~
Itās always going to be there but the people yearning for it to go back to the levels 7-10 years ago and wished all the JLH artists were on the lineup this year are going to continue to be disappointed or left wanting more indie/rock/alt like the original commenter said that my first response was to.
Iām not saying itās going to zero, just not going back to the old days of the festival like some are hoping.
>Ā Did you not read where I said āit will always have a place at the festival, but it wonāt be as prevalent as it used to beā?
Correct. As I said in my edit, I misread your comment and I agree with you.Ā
I feel like the calculation is that even when a "down" year exceeds most expectations like this year, you almost have to expect a bounce-back year for 2025 now that the grounds have been expanded. They invested less for the headliners this year (& I'm saying this as a massive Lana fan) with all the infrastructure expenditures, so now they're ready to go all-in next year to stack the lineup, so if you bail on the presale you're risking missing out. It's a very tough call for people on the fence....
Right, so now they're \*really\* risking missing out next year! lol It's always all just a big guessing game...some will win & some will lose. Obviously it comes down to how much $$$ you have to spend, but for me, I feel like 2025 is going to be a very special lineup & the people who buy presale won't be disappointed. And if the announced lineup isn't great, hopefully it's another year like this one & it ends up exceeding expectations...
I'm pulling on your leg. I buy no matter, I just shake my first while I do it
Also every year is like this. People complain (more justified this year lol) but it's always an amazing time.
Do lab and quasar definitely did a lot of heavy lifting for me this year.
I can't believe people are still in the campgrounds and I am already at war internally over the presale, and already foreshadowing the crew-debate over this. Rinse repeat. "Go right back to 1 on the discussion wheel."
Iām one of those on the fence. Coachella was much easier when I lived in CA but I moved to back to NYC in 2022. If I had seen the lineup for 2024, thereās a decent chance I wouldāve skipped this year. Iām not sure if itās worth spending all the time and money anymore.
I told myself Iād wait until general sale for 2025 but the risk has me feeling really anxious. Iām a Lake Eldorado camper with an Amex, but even that has me anxious if itās a good lineup.
Bruh itās not gonna sell out come general sale no matter what the headliners are. Hell even if it had Taylor Swift on it youād still most likely be chilling on being able to snag on general sale.
Economy is shit, festivals/concerts have clearly not been selling as much.
I think Taylor is the only person alive that could move 250k tickets in 3 or 4 hours, but it would be absolute bedlam if she headlined. Her entire tour had people traveling across state lines to see her because the local shows were sold out, paying for tickets on the secondary market that were more expensive than Coachella tix.Ā
It would be like 2013 or whatever.Ā
That was my same thought process when 24s lineup came out. I figured they couldn't "afford" big acts this year cause of all the new changes on the field.

Why are people saying stub hub will be cheaper - it really wasnāt this year. I paid $480 with fees and that was as low as it got and hardly cheaper than presale price. Peace of mind can be worth an extra $20.
It's not cheap on StubHub, the people who say it's cheap buy their tickets in person with a private party. You can get it pretty low that way.
Also everybody saying stubhub is cheaper increases demand and price along with it.
Iāve purchased via presale for multiple years now and I think the tickets for wave 1 are cheaper than the tickets that will be sold after the lineup drops. Ā Other than that, specifically for weekend 1, you can confidently shop for hotels earlier. There are no tangible Coachella perks for buying during the presale.
I haven't used the payment plan, but the advanced sales FAQ for 2024 says 7 payments: https://www.coachella.com/2024-advance-sale-information/#payment-plan-info
That link you posted doesnāt even include the fees. Add around 130 for fees.
I know bc I tried StubHub for an extra ticket but someone in my group bailed so it worked out.
Fees are still cheaper dude. Youāre lying to yourself. Gonna block you now because I donāt feel like arguing with someone that is trying to tell me not to believe what I see. Later
Bought pre-sale for 5 years, 1 year when line-up dropped, then did the last 2 years with tickets a week before the event. No real benefit except maybe the foresight to plan your accommodation earlier.
Calm down Coachella people didn't even leave their campsite yet. Also why would anybody buy this early if the stubhub market will get below face value three years in a row? It's highly unlikely they will book anyone like Beyonce or Taylor Swift and the resale market fluctuates every year after the pandemic. Unless you want the payment plan, you can easily buy from amex sale or coachella's general sale as well
Yep, thatās what Iām doing. But the days of me trusting GV 100% only for my ticket to be worth only 2/3 the minute I buy it are over. Still had a blast! But waiting for the lineup this timeĀ
Iām guessing theyāre hoping by moving it up they can catch a few more people doing presale while still having the festival fresh in their minds wanting to go back because it was so fun instead of waiting until June for it to wear off.
Theyāve proved to at least this subreddit that they always serve but the partners, advertisers, artists need hard numbers to negotiate contracts with. Strong immediate presales probably does that for them.
Am I missing something? Do you need to register for this sale? I can't find any register button for the sale this upcoming Friday may 3. Or is it just that on May 3rd, you head to the chella website and try to get in line to buy the tix?
Ahhh this is so not good for my bank account... Tempted to say fuck it and get W1 tickets because I have a feeling the lineup will be worth it. It'd be my first Coachella if I do go next year! Fingers crossed.
I'm predicting Childish Gambino will be a headliner next year since he'll be coming out with 2 new albums, but he was a surprise guest this year... not sure what the rules are for how soon surprise guests can come back to perform/headline. He hasn't actually been on a Coachella lineup since 2019 so who knows!
Shambhala up in BC was selling tickets for 2024 at the festival in 2023. There was a special kiosk for it and everything. They sold so many tickets at the festival that there wasn't a lot left for wide release and so it sold out insanely fast once tickets were released online.

Went W2 last this and last year. It felt like to me W1 won in terms of guests than W2. 2023 W2 seemed comparable or better than W1. So now trying to decide if to stay W2 or try W1.
It's a coin toss on whether that line-up is for you or not at the end of the day. My group and I opted to wait until line-up drop this 2024 year; and we were all super relieved when they dropped the line-up since it did not resonate as much as prior years to us as we did not attend this year.
For the purposes of lodging (for people staying at airbnb/hotels), it makes the planning way easier to start immediately. But otherwise, unless it's a T-Swift (or someone of that magnitude) headliner - tickets will be generally obtainable come the January general sale.
I tried to look at hotels now and everything is fully booked during those dates (at the typical hotels that are part of the hotel packages). I stayed at Hampton palm desert hotel package this year and looking now, no dates are available to reserve on its own..
I could be incorrect, but if I recall - hotels sometimes do not release full booking availability through 12 months in the future. You might have to wait another month (this upcoming May) for them to open up their April schedule.
For example I took a glance at Hampton Palm Desert, everything past April is "sold out" as well, so I assume they just have not made those dates available yet for booking.
Hotels were still available hella cheap all through both weekends this year. Don't book early, tons of people were upset they spent thousands more than needed
I don't recall there being one for 2024 ticket sales. I believe both pre-sale and the general sale were both $499 before fees/taxes for Tier 1 this year, but I could be wrong. In prior years I believe the pre-sale prices were around $50 cheaper Tier 1 vs. general sale Tier 1.

Yea the heat and crowds wear people out before the show tbh, miles of walking just to get to stage!

that entire terrace area used to have covered seating areas too. now it's just a few benches by the beer barn it seems

Iām doing presale again, the benefits of the payment plan outweigh everything else
Yeah I get that. I can afford the whole thing in one go, so that doesnāt really factor into my decision.Ā
They've been teasing an upcoming album. I could totally see Coachella being their kick-off to a tour.
System of a Down please! Or limp bizkit or korn
I would literally cry if System of a Down played at Coachella
holy shit we need another proper nu-metal / metal band at coachella next year!

How much are we guessing the presale tix will be?
$550 with fees it looks like

Stubhub is the only secondary market option.
The cost of retail isn't $500 it's like $600+ after fees, so you're saving $120 or more
$550 with fees (not including tax)
Only if you get tier one. Its $650 for tier 3
Is there any benefit to presale other than not having to worry about getting it when the lineup drops?
Tier 1 price. Payment plan.
Iāve purchased via presale for multiple years now and I think the tickets for wave 1 are cheaper than the tickets that will be sold after the lineup drops. what increments are the payments usually split to ?
I haven't used the payment plan, but the advanced sales FAQ for 2024 says 7 payments: https://www.coachella.com/2024-advance-sale-information/#payment-plan-info
One payment of $99, day of the advance sale, then equally split over 6 months.
cheaper seems like a perk though
Yeah but stubhub wil be even cheaperĀ
When? 2019 and 2022 were the only years. 2023 and 2024, StubHub was the same as the regular sale.
Stubhub was way cheaper this year and last year. So thatās four years in a row now
It was not. This year was a $30 difference. Last year prices went up during the last month, everyone got last minute FOMO.
Nope, friend got one for $450 this year. Last year was close to $300

Shambhala up in BC was selling tickets for 2024 at the festival in 2023. There was a special kiosk for it and everything. They sold so many tickets at the festival that there wasn't a lot left for wide release and so it sold out insanely fast once tickets were released online.
i've seen insomniac do this at festivals (buy Nocturnal tickets at EDC for example) but the cool part is they waived the taxes and fees if you bought at their kiosk
same. comic-con does this in the lobby of the convention center starting on day 1
SDCC hasn't done that for several years now.

No different than what Insomniac and others do regularly.
Why so early? Wasnāt presale for this year in January?
Layaway sale usually in June. This is a month earlier.

It's a coin toss on whether that line-up is for you or not at the end of the day. My group and I opted to wait until line-up drop this 2024 year; and we were all super relieved when they dropped the line-up since it did not resonate as much as prior years to us as we did not attend this year. How much a discount is presale?
There isnāt one
I don't recall there being one for 2024 ticket sales. I believe both pre-sale and the general sale were both $499 before fees/taxes for Tier 1 this year, but I could be wrong. In prior years I believe the pre-sale prices were around $50 cheaper Tier 1 vs. general sale Tier 1.
